Apocalypse 5

1 Je vis ensuite, à la droite de Celui qui était assis sur le trône, un livre écrit des deux côtés, fermé de sept sceaux;

Then I saw at the right hand of him who was ‘seated on the throne a book, with writing inside and out, and sealed’ with seven seals;

2 et je vis un ange d'une force extraordinaire qui s'écriait d'une voix éclatante: «Qui est digne d'ouvrir le livre et d'en rompre les sceaux?»

and I saw a mighty angel who was proclaiming in a loud voice — ‘Who is worthy to open the book and break its seals?’

3 Et personne ne put, ni dans le ciel, ni sur la terre, ni sous la terre, ouvrir le livre ni le regarder.

But no one either in Heaven or on earth or under the earth was able to open the book or look within it.

4 Et je versai bien des larmes, parce que personne n'était jugé digne d'ouvrir le livre ni de le regarder.

At this I wept long, because no one could be found who was worthy to open the book or look within it.

5 Et l'un des vieillards me dit: «Ne pleure point, voici, le lion de la tribu de Juda, le rejeton de David a réussi à ouvrir le livre et à rompre les sept sceaux.»

But one of the Councillors said to me — ‘Do not weep. The Lion conquered — the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Scion of David — and can therefore open the book with its seven seals.’

6 Et je vis, debout, au milieu du trône et des quatre animaux, et au milieu des vieillards, un agneau qui semblait égorgé; il a sept cornes et sept yeux qui sont les sept Esprits de Dieu envoyés par toute la terre.

Then, within the space between the throne and the four Creatures, and in the midst of the Councillors, I saw, standing, a Lamb, which seemed to have been sacrificed. It had seven horns and seven eyes. (These eyes are the seven Spirits of God, and they are sent into all the world.)

7 Et il vint, et il prit le livre de la main droite de Celui qui était assis sur le trône.

The Lamb came forward; and he has taken the book from the right hand of him who was seated on the throne.

8 Et quand il le prit, les quatre animaux et les vingt-quatre vieillards se prosternèrent devant l'agneau, et chacun avait une harpe et des coupes d'or pleines de parfums (les prières des saints), et ils chantaient un cantique nouveau et disaient:

And, when he had taken the book, the four Creatures and the twenty-four Councillors prostrated themselves before the Lamb, each of them holding a harp and golden bowls full of incense. (These are the prayers of Christ’s People.)

9 «Toi, tu es digne de prendre le livre et d'en ouvrir les sceaux; car tu as été égorgé, et, avec ton sang, tu as acheté pour Dieu des élus de toute tribu, de toute langue, de tout peuple, de toute race, et tu en as fait pour notre Dieu un Royaume, et tu en as fait des prêtres, et ils régneront sur la terre!

And they are singing a new song — ‘Thou art worthy to take the book and break its seals, for thou wast sacrificed, and with thy blood thou didst buy for God men of every tribe, and language, and people, and nation,

10 Et je regardai, et j'entendis comme la voix d'une foule d'anges réunis autour du trône et des animaux et des vieillards,

and didst make them a Kingdom of Priests in the service of our God, and they are reigning upon the earth.’

11 et il y en avait des myriades de myriades, des milliers de milliers qui disaient d'une voix éclatante:

Then, in my vision, I heard the voices of many angels round the throne, and of the Creatures, and of the Councillors. In number they were ‘ten thousand times ten thousand and thousands of thousands,’

12 «Digne est l'agneau égorgé de recevoir la puissance, et la richesse, et la sagesse, et la force, et l'honneur, et la gloire, et la bénédiction!»

and they cried in a loud voice — ‘Worthy is the Lamb that was sacrificed to receive all power, and wealth, and wisdom, and might, and honour, and praise, and blessing.’

13 Et j'entendis toute créature dans le ciel, sur la terre, sous la terre, sur la mer, j'entendis tout ce qu'ils contiennent qui disait: «A Celui qui est assis sur le trône et à l'agneau soient la bénédiction, et l'honneur, et la gloire, et la force aux siècles des siècles!» (aiōn g165)

And I heard every created thing in the air, and on the earth, and under the earth, and on the sea, and all that is in them crying — ‘To him who is seated on the throne and to the Lamb be ascribed all blessing, and honour, and praise, and dominion for ever and ever.’ (aiōn g165)

14 Et les quatre animaux dirent: «Amen.» Et les vieillards se prosternèrent et adorèrent.

And the four Creatures said ‘Amen,’ and the Councillors prostrated themselves and worshiped.
