Matthaeus 8
1 Als er aber von dem Berge herabgestiegen war, folgte ihm eine große Volksmenge.
When Jesus had come down from the hill, large crowds followed him.
2 Und siehe, ein Aussätziger kam herzu und huldigte ihm und sprach: Herr, wenn du willst, kannst du mich reinigen.
Behold, a leper came to him and bowed before him, saying, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.”
3 Und er streckte seine Hand aus, rührte ihn an und sprach: Ich will; sei gereinigt! Und alsbald wurde sein Aussatz gereinigt.
Jesus reached out his hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing. Be clean.” Immediately he was cleansed of his leprosy.
4 Und Jesus spricht zu ihm: Siehe, sage es niemandem; sondern gehe hin, zeige dich dem Priester, und bringe die Gabe dar, die Moses angeordnet hat, ihnen zum Zeugnis.
Jesus said to him, “See that you say nothing to any man. Go on your way, and show yourself to the priest and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony to them.”
5 Als er aber in Kapernaum eintrat, kam ein Hauptmann zu ihm, der ihn bat
When Jesus had entered into Capernaum, a centurion came to him and asked him,
6 und sprach: Herr, mein Knecht liegt zu Hause gelähmt und wird schrecklich gequält.
saying, “Lord, my servant lies in the house paralyzed and in terrible pain.”
7 Und Jesus spricht zu ihm: Ich will kommen und ihn heilen.
Jesus said to him, “I will come and heal him.”
8 Der Hauptmann aber antwortete und sprach: Herr, ich bin nicht würdig, [O. genugsam, tüchtig] daß du unter mein Dach eingehest; sondern sprich nur ein Wort, und mein Knecht wird gesund werden.
The centurion answered and said, “Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, only say the word and my servant will be healed.
9 Denn auch ich bin ein Mensch unter Gewalt und habe Kriegsknechte unter mir; und ich sage zu diesem: Gehe hin, und er geht; und zu einem anderen: Komm, und er kommt; und zu meinem Knechte: [O. Sklaven] Tue dieses, und er tuts.
For I also am a man who is placed under authority, and I have soldiers under me. I say to this one, 'Go,' and he goes, and to another one, 'Come,' and he comes, and to my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it.”
10 Als aber Jesus es hörte, verwunderte er sich und sprach zu denen, welche nachfolgten: Wahrlich, ich sage euch, selbst nicht in Israel habe ich so großen Glauben gefunden.
When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and said to those who were following him, “Truly I say to you, I have not found anyone with such faith in Israel.
11 Ich sage euch aber, daß viele von Osten und Westen kommen und mit Abraham und Isaak und Jakob zu Tische liegen werden in dem Reiche der Himmel,
I tell you, many will come from the east and the west, and they will recline at the table with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.
12 aber die Söhne des Reiches werden hinausgeworfen werden in die äußere Finsternis: [O. in der Finsternis draußen] da wird sein das Weinen und das Zähneknirschen.
But the sons of the kingdom will be thrown into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and grinding of teeth.”
13 Und Jesus sprach zu dem Hauptmann: Gehe hin, und dir geschehe, wie du geglaubt hast. Und sein Knecht wurde gesund in jener Stunde.
Jesus said to the centurion, “Go! As you have believed, so may it be done for you.” And the servant was healed at that very hour.
14 Und als Jesus in das Haus des Petrus gekommen war, sah er dessen Schwiegermutter fieberkrank daniederliegen.
When Jesus had come into Peter's house, he saw Peter's mother-in-law lying sick with a fever.
15 Und er rührte ihre Hand an, und das Fieber verließ sie; und sie stand auf und diente ihm.
Jesus touched her hand, and the fever left her. Then she got up and started serving him.
16 Als es aber Abend geworden war, brachten sie viele Besessene zu ihm; und er trieb die Geister aus mit einem Worte, und er heilte alle Leidenden,
When evening had come, the people brought to Jesus many who were possessed by demons. He drove out the spirits with a word and healed all who were sick.
17 damit erfüllt würde, was durch den Propheten Jesaias geredet ist, welcher spricht: "Er selbst nahm unsere Schwachheiten und trug unsere Krankheiten." [Jes. 53,4]
In this way was fulfilled that which had been spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying, “He himself took our sickness and bore our diseases.”
18 Als aber Jesus eine große Volksmenge um sich sah, befahl er hinwegzufahren an das jenseitige Ufer.
Now when Jesus saw the crowd around him, he gave instructions to leave for the other side of the Sea of Galilee.
19 Und ein Schriftgelehrter kam herzu und sprach zu ihm: Lehrer, ich will dir nachfolgen, wohin irgend du gehst.
Then a scribe came to him and said, “Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.”
20 Und Jesus spricht zu ihm: Die Füchse haben Höhlen, und die Vögel des Himmels Nester, aber der Sohn des Menschen hat nicht, wo er das Haupt hinlege.
Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes, and the birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.”
21 Ein anderer aber von seinen Jüngern sprach zu ihm: Herr, erlaube mir, zuvor hinzugehen und meinen Vater zu begraben.
Another of the disciples said to him, “Lord, allow me first to go and bury my father.”
22 Jesus aber sprach zu ihm: Folge mir nach, und laß die Toten ihre Toten begraben.
But Jesus said to him, “Follow me, and leave the dead to bury their own dead.”
23 Und als er in das Schiff gestiegen war, folgten ihm seine Jünger.
When Jesus had entered a boat, his disciples followed him into it.
24 Und siehe, es erhob sich ein großes Ungestüm auf dem See, so daß das Schiff von den Wellen bedeckt wurde; er aber schlief.
Behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was covered with the waves. But Jesus was asleep.
25 Und die Jünger traten hinzu, weckten ihn auf und sprachen: Herr, rette uns, wir kommen um!
The disciples came to him and woke him up, saying, “Save us, Lord; we are about to die!”
26 Und er spricht zu ihnen: Was seid ihr furchtsam, Kleingläubige? Dann stand er auf und bedrohte die Winde und den See; und es ward eine große Stille.
Jesus said to them, “Why are you afraid, you of little faith?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the sea. Then there was a great calm.
27 Die Menschen aber verwunderten sich und sprachen: Was für einer ist dieser, daß auch die Winde und der See ihm gehorchen?
The men marveled and said, “What sort of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him?”
28 Und als er an das jenseitige Ufer gekommen war, in das Land der Gergesener, [Viell. ist hier mit mehreren Handschriften "Gadarener" zu lesen] begegneten ihm zwei Besessene, die aus den Grüften hervorkamen, sehr wütend, so daß niemand jenes Weges vorbeizugehen vermochte.
When Jesus had come to the other side and to the country of the Gadarenes, two men who were possessed by demons met him. They were coming out of the tombs and were very violent, so that no traveler could pass that way.
29 Und siehe, sie schrieen und sprachen: Was haben wir mit dir zu schaffen, Sohn Gottes? Bist du hierhergekommen, vor der Zeit uns zu quälen?
Behold, they cried out and said, “What do we have to do with you, Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before the set time?”
30 Es war aber fern von ihnen eine Herde vieler Schweine, welche weidete.
Now a herd of many pigs was there feeding, not too far away from them.
31 Die Dämonen aber baten ihn und sprachen: Wenn du uns austreibst, so sende uns in die Herde Schweine.
The demons kept imploring Jesus and saying, “If you cast us out, send us away into that herd of pigs.”
32 Und er sprach zu ihnen: Gehet hin. Sie aber fuhren aus und fuhren in die Herde Schweine. Und siehe, die ganze Herde Schweine stürzte sich den Abhang hinab in den See, und sie kamen um in dem Gewässer.
Jesus said to them, “Go!” The demons came out and went into the pigs; and behold, the whole herd rushed down the steep hill into the sea and they died in the water.
33 Die Hüter aber flohen und gingen in die Stadt und verkündeten alles und das von den Besessenen.
Those who had been tending the pigs ran away and they went into the city and reported everything, especially what had happened to the men who had been possessed by demons.
34 Und siehe, die ganze Stadt ging hinaus, Jesu entgegen, und als sie ihn sahen, baten sie, daß er aus ihren Grenzen weggehen möchte. -
Behold, all the city came out to meet Jesus. When they saw him, they begged him to leave their region.
