Nehemia 13
1 An selbigem Tage wurde in dem Buche Moses vor den Ohren des Volkes gelesen; und es fand sich darin geschrieben, daß kein Ammoniter und Moabiter in die Versammlung Gottes kommen sollte ewiglich;
On that day there was read in the book of Moses, in the ears of the people, and it hath been found written in it that an Ammonite and Moabite doth not come into the assembly of God — unto the age,
2 weil sie den Kindern Israel nicht mit Brot und mit Wasser entgegen gekommen waren, und Bileam wider sie gedungen hatten, um sie zu verfluchen; [Vergl. 5. Mose 23,3. 4] aber unser Gott wandelte den Fluch in Segen.
because they have not come before the sons of Israel with bread and with water, and hire against them Balaam to revile them, and our God turneth the reviling into a blessing.
3 Und es geschah, als sie das Gesetz hörten, da sonderten sie alles Mischvolk von Israel ab.
And it cometh to pass, at their hearing the law, that they separate all the mixed people from Israel.
4 Und vor diesem hatte Eljaschib, der Priester, der über die Zellen des Hauses unseres Gottes gesetzt war, ein Verwandter des Tobija,
And before this Eliashib the priest, appointed over chambers of the house of our God, [is] a relation of Tobiah,
5 diesem eine große Zelle gemacht, wohin man vordem die Speisopfer legte, den Weihrauch und die Geräte und den Zehnten vom Getreide, Most und Öl, das für die Leviten und die Sänger und die Torhüter Gebotene, und die Hebopfer der Priester.
and he maketh for him a great chamber, and there they were formerly putting the present, the frankincense, and the vessels, and the tithe of the corn, the new wine, and the oil — the commanded thing of the Levites, and the singers, and the gatekeepers — and the heave-offering of the priests.
6 Während diesem allem war ich aber nicht in Jerusalem; denn im 32. Jahre Artasastas, des Königs von Babel, war ich zu dem König zurückgekommen. Und nach Verlauf einer Zeit erbat ich mir Urlaub von dem König;
And during all this I was not in Jerusalem, for in the thirty and second year of Artaxerxes king of Babylon did I come unto the king, and at the end of days I have asked of the king,
7 und als ich nach Jerusalem kam, bemerkte ich das Böse, welches Eljaschib zugunsten Tobijas getan, indem er ihm eine Zelle in den Höfen des Hauses Gottes gemacht hatte.
and I come in to Jerusalem, and understand concerning the evil that Eliashib hath done for Tobiah, to make to him a chamber in the courts of the house of God,
8 Und es mißfiel mir sehr, und ich warf alle Hausgeräte Tobijas aus der Zelle hinaus;
and it is very displeasing to me, and I cast all the vessels of the house of Tobiah without, out of the chamber,
9 und ich befahl, daß man die Zellen reinigen sollte; und ich brachte die Geräte des Hauses Gottes, das Speisopfer und den Weihrauch wieder hinein.
and I speak, and they cleanse the chambers, and I bring back thither the vessels of the house of God with the present and the frankincense.
10 Und ich erfuhr, daß die Teile der Leviten nicht gegeben worden, und daß die Leviten und die Sänger, welche das Werk taten, entflohen waren, ein jeder auf sein Feld. [S. Kap. 12, 28. 29]
And I know that the portions of the Levites have not been given, and they flee each to his field — the Levites and the singers, doing the work.
11 Da zankte ich mit den Vorstehern und sprach: Warum ist das Haus Gottes verlassen worden? Und ich versammelte sie und stellte sie an ihre Stelle.
And I strive with the prefects, and say, 'Wherefore hath the house of God been forsaken?' and I gather them, and set them on their station;
12 Und ganz Juda brachte den Zehnten vom Getreide und Most und Öl in die Vorratskammern.
and all Judah have brought in the tithe of the corn, and of the new wine, and of the oil, to the treasuries.
13 Und ich bestellte zu Schatzmeistern über die Vorräte: Schelemja, den Priester, und Zadok, den Schreiber, und Pedaja, von den Leviten, und ihnen zur Seite Hanan, den Sohn Sakkurs, des Sohnes Mattanjas; denn sie wurden für treu geachtet, und ihnen lag es ob, ihren Brüdern auszuteilen.
And I appoint treasurers over the treasuries, Shelemiah the priest, and Zadok the scribe, and Pedaiah of the Levites; and by their hand [is] Hanan son of Zaccur, son of Mattaniah, for stedfast they have been reckoned, and on them [it is] to give a portion to their brethren.
14 Gedenke meiner um dessentwillen, mein Gott, und tilge nicht aus meine guten Taten, die ich am Hause meines Gottes und an dessen Hut [Eig. an dessen Beobachtungen, Dienstleistungen] erwiesen habe!
Be mindful of me, O my God, for this, and do not blot out my kind acts that I have done, for the house of my God, and for its charges.
15 In jenen Tagen sah ich einige in Juda, welche am Sabbath die Keltern traten, und Garben einbrachten und auf Esel luden, und auch Wein, Trauben und Feigen und allerlei Last, und es am Sabbathtage nach Jerusalem hereinbrachten; und ich zeugte wider sie [O. warnte, ermahnte sie; so auch v 21] an dem Tage, da sie die Lebensmittel verkauften.
In those days I have seen in Judah those treading wine-vats on sabbath, and bringing in the sheaves, and lading on the asses, and also, wine, grapes, and figs, and every burden, yea, they are bringing in to Jerusalem on the sabbath-day, and I testify in the day of their selling provision.
16 Auch Tyrer wohnten darin, welche Fische und allerlei Waren hereinbrachten und sie am Sabbath den Kindern Juda und in Jerusalem verkauften.
And the Tyrians have dwelt in it, bringing in fish, and every ware, and selling on sabbath to the sons of Judah and in Jerusalem.
17 Da zankte ich mit den Edlen von Juda und sprach zu ihnen: Was ist das für eine böse Sache, die ihr tut, daß ihr den Sabbathtag entheiliget?
And I strive with the freemen of Judah, and say to them, 'What [is] this evil thing that ye are doing, and polluting the sabbath-day?
18 Haben nicht eure Väter ebenso getan, so daß unser Gott all dieses Unglück über uns und über diese Stadt brachte? Und ihr mehret die Zornglut über Israel, indem ihr den Sabbath entheiliget!
Thus did not your fathers do? and our God bringeth in on us all this evil, and on this city, and ye are adding fierceness on Israel, to pollute the sabbath.'
19 Und es geschah, sowie es in den Toren Jerusalems vor dem Sabbath dunkel wurde, da befahl ich, daß die Türen geschlossen würden; und ich befahl, daß man sie nicht auftun sollte bis nach dem Sabbath. Und ich bestellte einige von meinen Dienern [S. die Anm. zu Kap. 4,16] über die Tore, damit keine Last am Sabbathtage hereinkäme.
And it cometh to pass, when the gates of Jerusalem have been dark before the sabbath, that I speak, and the doors are shut, and I say, that they do not open them till after the sabbath; and of my servants I have stationed at the gates; there doth not come in a burden on the sabbath-day.
20 Da übernachteten die Krämer und die Verkäufer von allerlei Ware draußen vor Jerusalem einmal und zweimal.
And they lodge — the merchants and sellers of all ware — at the outside of Jerusalem, once or twice,
21 Und ich zeugte wider sie und sprach zu ihnen: Warum übernachtet ihr vor der Mauer? Wenn ihr es wieder tut, werde ich Hand an euch legen! Von dieser Zeit an kamen sie nicht mehr am Sabbath.
and I testify against them, and say unto them, 'Wherefore are ye lodging over-against the wall? if ye repeat [it], a hand I put forth upon you;' from that time they have not come in on the sabbath.
22 Und ich befahl den Leviten, daß sie sich reinigen und kommen sollten, die Tore zu bewachen, um den Sabbathtag zu heiligen. Auch das gedenke mir, mein Gott, und schone meiner nach der Größe deiner Güte! [O. Huld]
And I say to the Levites, that they be cleansed, and, coming in, keeping the gates, to sanctify the sabbath-day. Also, this, remember for me, O my God, and have pity on me, according to the abundance of Thy kindness.
23 Auch besuchte ich in jenen Tagen die Juden, welche asdoditische, ammonitische und moabitische Weiber heimgeführt hatten. [Vergl. Esra 9,1;10,2 usw.]
Also, in those days, I have seen the Jews [who] have settled women of Ashdod, of Ammon, of Moab.
24 Und die Hälfte ihrer Kinder redete asdoditisch und wußte nicht jüdisch zu reden, sondern redete nach der Sprache des einen oder anderen Volkes.
And of their sons, half are speaking Ashdoditish — and are not knowing to speak Jewish — and according to the language of people and people.
25 Und ich zankte mit ihnen und fluchte ihnen, und schlug einige Männer von ihnen und raufte sie. Und ich beschwor sie bei Gott: [O. ließ sie schwören bei Gott und sprach] Wenn ihr eure Töchter ihren Söhnen geben werdet, und wenn ihr von ihren Töchtern für eure Söhne und für euch nehmen werdet!
And I strive with them, and declare them vile, and smite certain of them, and pluck off their hair, and cause them to swear by God, 'Ye do not give your daughters to their sons, nor do ye take of their daughters to your sons, and to yourselves.
26 Hat nicht Salomo, der König von Israel, ihretwegen [d. h. der fremden Weiber wegen] gesündigt? Und seinesgleichen ist unter den vielen Nationen kein König gewesen; und er war geliebt von seinem Gott, und Gott setzte ihn zum König über ganz Israel; doch ihn [O. selbst ihn] machten die fremden Weiber sündigen.
'By these did not Solomon king of Israel sin? and among the many nations there was no king like him, and beloved by his God he was, and God maketh him king over all Israel — even him did the strange women cause to sin.
27 Und sollten wir auf euch hören, [O. und sollte man von euch hören] daß ihr all dieses große Übel tut, treulos zu handeln gegen unseren Gott, indem ihr fremde Weiber heimführet!
And to you do we hearken to do all this great evil, to trespass against our God, to settle strange women?'
28 Und einer von den Söhnen Jojadas, des Sohnes Eljaschibs, des Hohenpriesters, war ein Eidam Sanballats, des Horoniters; und ich jagte ihn von mir weg.
And [one] of the sons of Joiada son of Eliashib the high priest, [is] son-in-law to Sanballat the Horonite, and I cause him to flee from off me.
29 Gedenke es ihnen, mein Gott, wegen der Verunreinigungen des Priestertums und des Bundes des Priestertums und der Leviten!
Be mindful of them, O my God, for the redeemed of the priesthood, and the covenant of the priesthood, and of the Levites.
30 Und so reinigte ich sie von allem Fremden, [O. allen Fremden] und ich stellte die Dienstleistungen der Priester und der Leviten fest, für einen jeden in seinem Geschäft,
And I have cleansed them from every stranger, and appoint charges to priests and to Levites, each in his work,
31 und für die Holzspende zu bestimmten Zeiten und für die Erstlinge. Gedenke es mir, mein Gott, zum Guten!
and for the wood-offering at appointed times, and for first-fruits. Be mindful of me, O my God, for good.
