Psalm 50
1 [Ein Psalm; von Asaph.] Der Mächtige, [El] Gott, Jehova, hat geredet und die Erde gerufen vom Aufgang der Sonne bis zu ihrem Niedergang.
A psalm of Asaph. The Lord God has spoken: He summons the earth from sunrise to sunset.
2 Aus Zion, der Schönheit Vollendung, ist Gott hervorgestrahlt.
From Zion, perfection of beauty, God’s glory shines forth.
3 Unser Gott kommt, und er wird nicht schweigen; Feuer frißt vor ihm her, und rings um ihn stürmt es gewaltig.
Our God comes, he cannot keep silence, devouring fire is before him, and furious tempest around him.
4 Er ruft dem Himmel droben und der Erde, um sein Volk zu richten:
He summons the heavens above and the earth to judge his people.
5 "Versammelt mir meine Frommen, die meinen Bund geschlossen haben beim Opfer!"
Gather to him his saints by covenant-sacrifice bound to him;
6 Und die Himmel verkünden seine Gerechtigkeit, denn Gott ist es, der richtet. [O. denn Gott steht im Begriff zu richten] (Sela)
that the heavens may declare his justice, for a God of justice is he. (Selah)
7 "Höre, mein Volk, und ich will reden, Israel, und ich will wider dich zeugen! Ich, ich bin Gott, dein Gott.
‘Hear, O my people, and I will speak, and protest to you, O Israel: I am the Lord, your God.
8 Nicht wegen deiner Schlachtopfer tadle ich dich, und deine Brandopfer sind beständig vor mir.
Not for your sacrifices will I reprove you your burnt-offerings are ever before me
9 Nicht werde ich Farren nehmen aus deinem Hause, noch Böcke aus deinen Hürden.
Not a bullock will I take from your house, nor male goats out of your folds;
10 Denn mein ist alles Getier des Waldes, das Vieh auf tausend Bergen.
for all beasts of the forest are mine, and the kine on a thousand hills.
11 Ich kenne alles Gevögel der Berge, und das Wild [Eig. was sich tummelt; so auch Ps. 80,13] des Gefildes ist mir bekannt.
I know all the birds of the air, all that moves on the fields is mine.
12 Wenn mich hungerte, ich würde es dir nicht sagen: denn mein ist der Erdkreis und seine Fülle.
Were I hungry, I would not tell you, for the world and its fulness are mine.
13 Sollte ich das Fleisch von Stieren [Eig. von Starken] essen und das Blut von Böcken trinken?
Am I such as to eat bulls’ flesh, or drink the blood of goats?
14 Opfere Gott Lob, [O. Dank] und bezahle dem Höchsten deine Gelübde;
Offer to God a thank-offering, pay the Most High your vows.
15 Und rufe mich an am Tage der Bedrängnis: ich will dich erretten, und du wirst mich verherrlichen!"
Summon me in the day of distress, I will rescue you, so will you honour me.’
16 Zu dem Gesetzlosen aber spricht Gott: "Was hast du meine Satzungen herzusagen und meinen Bund in deinen Mund zu nehmen?
But to the wicked God says: ‘What right have you to talk of my statutes, or take my covenant into your mouth
17 Du hast ja die Zucht [O. Unterweisung, Zurechtweisung] gehaßt und hinter dich geworfen meine Worte.
while you yourself hate correction, and cast my words behind you?
18 Wenn du einen Dieb sahst, so gingst du gern mit ihm um, und dein Teil war mit Ehebrechern.
When you see a thief, you run with them; with adulterers you keep company.
19 Deinen Mund ließest du los zum Bösen, und Trug flocht deine Zunge.
You let your mouth loose for evil, your tongue contrives deceit.
20 Du saßest da, redetest wider deinen Bruder, wider den Sohn deiner Mutter stießest du Schmähung aus.
You shamefully speak of your kin, and slander your own mother’s son.
21 Solches hast du getan, und ich schwieg; du dachtest, ich sei ganz wie du. Ich werde dich strafen [O. überführen] und es dir vor Augen stellen."
And because I kept silence at this, you did take me for one like yourself. But I will convict you and show you plainly.
22 Merket doch dieses, die ihr Gottes [Eloah] vergesset, damit ich nicht zerreiße, und kein Erretter sei da!
‘Now you who forget God, mark this, lest I rend you, past hope of deliverance.
23 Wer Lob [O. Dank] opfert, verherrlicht mich, und wer seinen Weg einrichtet, ihn werde ich das Heil Gottes sehen lassen.
Those who bring a thank-offering honour me; but to those: who follows my way, I will show the salvation of God.’
