Psalm 74
1 [Ein Maskil; [S. die Anm. zu Ps. 32] von Asaph.] Gott, warum hast du verworfen für immer, raucht dein Zorn wider die Herde deiner Weide?
Understanding for Asaph. O God, why hast thou cast us off unto the end: why is thy wrath enkindled against the sheep of thy pasture?
2 Gedenke deiner Gemeinde, die du erworben hast vor alters, erlöst als dein Erbteil, [W. als Stamm deines Erbes] -des Berges Zion, auf welchem du gewohnt hast!
Remember thy congregation, which thou hast possessed from the beginning. The sceptre of thy inheritance which thou hast redeemed: mount Sion in which thou hast dwelt.
3 Erhebe deine Tritte zu den immerwährenden Trümmern! Alles im Heiligtum hat der Feind verderbt.
Lift up thy hands against their pride unto the end; see what things the enemy hath done wickedly in the sanctuary.
4 Es brüllen deine Widersacher inmitten deiner Versammlungsstätte; sie haben ihre Zeichen [O. Wunder; so auch v 9] als Zeichen [O. Wunder; so auch v 9] gesetzt.
And they that hate thee have made their boasts, in the midst of thy solemnity. They have set up their ensigns for signs,
5 Sie erscheinen [W. Er [d. h. jeder einzelne von ihnen] wird wahrgenommen; od.: Es sieht sich an, wie wenn einer usw.] wie einer, der die Axt emporhebt im Dickicht des Waldes;
And they knew not both in the going out and on the highest top. As with axes in a wood of trees,
6 und jetzt zerschlagen sie sein Schnitzwerk allzumal mit Beilen und mit Hämmern.
They have cut down at once the gates thereof, with axe and hatchet they have brought it down.
7 Sie haben dein Heiligtum in Brand gesteckt, zu Boden entweiht die Wohnung deines Namens.
They have set fire to thy sanctuary: they have defiled the dwelling place of thy name on the earth.
8 Sie sprachen in ihrem Herzen: Laßt uns sie niederzwingen allesamt! -Verbrannt haben sie alle Versammlungsstätten Gottes [El] im Lande.
They said in their heart, the whole kindred of them together: Let us abolish all the festival days of God from the land.
9 Unsere Zeichen sehen wir nicht; kein Prophet ist mehr da, und keiner bei uns, welcher weiß, bis wann.
Our signs we have not seen, there is now no prophet: and he will know us no more.
10 Bis wann, o Gott, soll höhnen der Bedränger, soll der Feind deinen Namen verachten immerfort?
How long, O God, shall the enemy reproach: is the adversary to provoke thy name for ever?
11 Warum ziehst du deine Hand und deine Rechte zurück? Hervor aus deinem Busen, mache ein Ende! [O. vernichte sie]
Why dost thou turn away thy hand: and thy right hand out of the midst of thy bosom for ever?
12 Gott ist ja mein König von alters her, der Rettungen schafft inmitten des Landes. [O. der Erde]
But God is our king before ages: he hath wrought salvation in the midst of the earth.
13 Du zerteiltest das Meer durch deine Macht, zerschelltest die Häupter der Wasserungeheuer auf den Wassern.
Thou by thy strength didst make the sea firm: thou didst crush the heads of the dragons in the waters.
14 Du zerschmettertest die Häupter des Leviathans, gabst ihn zur Speise dem Volke, den Bewohnern der Wüste. [d. h. den Tieren der Wüste]
Thou hast broken the heads of the dragon: thou hast given him to be meat for the people of the Ethiopians.
15 Du ließest Quell und Bach hervorbrechen, immerfließende Ströme trocknetest du aus.
Thou hast broken up the fountains and the torrents: thou hast dried up the Ethan rivers.
16 Dein ist der Tag, dein auch die Nacht; den Mond [Eig. die Leuchte] und die Sonne hast du bereitet.
Thine is the day, and thine is the night: thou hast made the morning light and the sun.
17 Du hast festgestellt alle Grenzen der Erde; Sommer und Winter, du hast sie gebildet.
Thou hast made all the borders of the earth: the summer and the spring were formed by thee.
18 Gedenke dessen: der Feind hat Jehova gehöhnt, und ein törichtes [O. gemeines, gottloses] Volk hat deinen Namen verachtet.
Remember this, the enemy hath reproached the Lord: and a foolish people hath provoked thy name.
19 Gib nicht dem Raubtiere hin die Seele deiner Turteltaube; die Schar deiner Elenden vergiß nicht für immer!
Deliver not up to beasts the souls that confess to thee: and forget not to the end the souls of thy poor.
20 Schaue hin auf den Bund! denn die finsteren Örter der Erde sind voll von Wohnungen der Gewalttat.
Have regard to thy covenant: for they that are the obscure of the earth have been filled with dwellings of iniquity.
21 Nicht kehre beschämt zurück der Unterdrückte; laß den Elenden und Armen deinen Namen loben!
Let not the humble be turned away with confusion: the poor and needy shall praise thy name.
22 Stehe auf, o Gott, führe deinen Rechtsstreit! gedenke deiner Verhöhnung von den Toren [wie Ps. 14,1] den ganzen Tag!
Arise, O God, judge thy own cause: remember thy reproaches with which the foolish man hath reproached thee all the day.
23 Vergiß nicht die Stimme deiner Widersacher! das Getöse derer, die sich wider dich erheben, steigt auf beständig. [O. das beständig aufsteigt]
Forget not the voices of thy enemies: the pride of them that hate thee ascendeth continually.
