Apostelgeschichte 14

1 In Ikonium gingen sie ebenfalls in die jüdische Synagoge und predigten, So daß eine große Menge von Juden und Heiden gläubig wurde.

And it came to pass in Iconium, that they went together into the synagogue of the Jews, and so spoke that a great multitude of the Jews and Greeks believed.

2 Die Juden aber, die ungläubig blieben, reizten und erbitterten die Heiden gegen die Brüder.

But the unbelieving Jews excited and embittered the minds of the Gentiles against the brethren.

3 Trotzdem konnten Sie dort noch eine Zeitlang bleiben und predigten freimütig im Vertrauen auf den Herrn, der für das Wort seiner Gnade Zeugnis gab durch Zeichen und Wunder, die er durch ihre Hände geschehen ließ.

Therefore, they continued a long time, and spoke boldly in the Lord, who gave testimony to the word of his grace, by granting signs and wonders to be done by their hands.

4 Da spaltete sich die Bevölkerung der Stadt; die einen hielten es mit den Juden, die anderen mit den Aposteln.

But the multitude of the city were divided; and some were with the Jews, and some with the apostles.

5 Als aber bei Heiden und Juden unter Anführung ihrer Vorsteher eine Bewegung entstand, sie zu mißhandeln und zu steinigen,

But when there was a violent purpose on the part of the Gentiles and of the Jews, with their rulers, to outrage and to stone them,

6 brachten sie sich, sobald sie das merkten, in den Städten Lykaoniens in Sicherheit: in Lystra, Derbe und in deren Umgegend.

being aware of it, they fled to the cities of Lycaonia, Lystra, and Derbe, and to the region round about,

7 Dort verkündigten sie nun das Evangelium.

and there they preached the gospel.

8 In Lystra saß ein Mann da, kraftlos an seinen Füßen von Geburt an; er hatte niemals gehen können.

And there was a certain man in Lystra, without strength in his feet, who sat, for he was a cripple from his mother’s womb, and had never walked.

9 Dieser hörte der Predigt des Paulus aufmerksam zu. Der aber blickte ihn an, sah, daß er Glauben hatte, um geheilt werden zu können,

This man heard Paul speak, who, looking earnestly on him, and seeing that he had faith to be saved,

10 und sprach zu ihm mit lauter Stimme: "Stell dich aufrecht auf deine Füße!" Und er sprang auf und ging umher.

said, with a loud voice: Stand erect upon your feet. And he leaped and walked.

11 Als die Volksscharen sahen, was Paulus getan hatte, erhoben sie ihre Stimmen und riefen auf lykaonisch: "Götter in Menschengestalt sind zu uns herabgestiegen."

When the multitude saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voice, and said, in the Lycaonian language: The Gods have come down to us in the likeness of men.

12 Den Barnabas nannten sie Zeus, den Paulus Hermes, weil er das Wort führte.

And they called Barnabas, Jupiter, and Paul, Mercury, for he was the chief speaker.

13 Der Priester des Zeus vor der Stadt ließ Stiere und Kränze an das Tor bringen und wollte samt den Volksscharen opfern.

Then the priest of Jupiter, whose temple was before the city, having brought bulls and garlands to the entrance, intended to offer sacrifice, with the multitudes.

14 Als die Apostel Barnabas und Paulus dies erfuhren, zerrissen sie ihre Kleider, sprangen unter das Volk

But when the apostles, Barnabas and Paul, heard of it, they rent their clothes, and ran in among the multitude, crying out,

15 und riefen laut: "Ihr Männer! Was macht ihr da? Auch wir sind schwache Menschen wie ihr. Wir bringen euch die frohe Botschaft, damit ihr von diesen nichtigen Götzen euch bekehren sollt zu dem lebendigen Gott, der Himmel, Erde, Meer und alles, was darinnen ist, erschaffen hat.

and saying: Men, why are you doing these things? We also are human beings, with passions like your own, and we preach the gospel to you, that you may turn from these vanities to the living God, who made the heaven, and the earth, and the sea, and all things that are in them;

16 In den vergangenen Zeiten ließ er alle Völker ihre eigenen Wege gehen.

who, in past generations, permitted all the nations to walk in their own ways;

17 Gleichwohl hat er sich nicht unbezeugt gelassen: Er spendete Wohltaten: Vom Himmel her gibt er euch Regen und fruchtbare Zeiten, er schenkt euch Nahrung und erfüllt eure Herzen mit Frohsinn."

and yet he did not leave himself without testimony, doing good, and giving you rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling your hearts with food and gladness.

18 Nur mit Mühe konnten sie durch diese Worte die Volkscharen abhalten, ihnen Opfer darzubringen.

And with these words they hardly restrained the multitudes from offering sacrifice to them.

19 Dann kamen aber Juden von Antiochien und Ikonium her und brachten das Volk auf ihre Seite. Sie steinigten den Paulus und schleiften ihn zur Stadt hinaus, weil sie ihn für tot hielten.

Then came thither, from Antioch and Iconium, Jews, who persuaded the multitudes; and having stoned Paul, they dragged him out of the city, supposing that he was dead.

20 Wie nun die Jünger um ihn herum standen, erhob er sich und kehrte in die Stadt zurück. Am folgenden Tage ging er mit Barnabas weiter nach Derbe.

But while the disciples were standing around him, he arose, and went into the city. And on the next day, he departed with Barnabas to Derbe;

21 Sie verkündeten in dieser Stadt das Evangelium und gewannen viele Jünger. Dann kehrten sie über Lystra und Ikonium wieder nach Antiochien zurück.

and when they had preached the gospel to that city, and had made many disciples, they returned to Lystra, and to Iconium, and to Antioch,

22 Sie stärkten dabei die Herzen der Jünger, ermahnten sie, im Glauben zu beharren, und wiesen sie darauf hin, daß wir durch viele Drangsale in das Reich Gottes eingehen müßten.

strengthening the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and saying, that through many afflictions we mast enter the kingdom of God.

23 Sie stellten in jeder Gemeinde unter Handauflegung mit Gebet und Fasten Presbyter für sie auf und empfahlen sie dem Herrn, dem sie sich gläubig zugewandt hatten.

And when they had appointed elders for them in every church, with prayer and fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they believed.

24 Sie kamen dann über Pisidien nach Pamphylien

And having passed through Pisidia, they came into Pamphylia;

25 und verkündeten das Wort des Herrn in Perge. Von da reisten sie nach Attalia hinab.

and when they had preached the word in Perga, they went down to Attalia:

26 Hier gingen sie nach Antiochien in See. Dort hatte man sie ja der Gnade Gottes übergeben zu dem Werke, das sie nun vollendet hatten.

thence they sailed to Antioch, from which place they had been commended to the grace of God, for the work which they had accomplished.

27 Nach ihrer Ankunft versammelten sie die Gemeinde und erzählten, welch große Dinge Gott durch sie gewirkt und daß er den Heiden die Tür des Glaubens geöffnet habe.

And having come and called together the church, they reported all that God had done with them, and that he had opened the door of faith to the Gentiles.

28 Sie verweilten geraume Zeit bei den Jüngern.

And they continued a long time with the disciples.
