Joel 1
1 Das Herrnwort, das an Joel, Petuels Sohn, erging:
[the] word of Yahweh which it came to Joel [the] son of Pethuel.
2 "Vernehmet dies, ihr Ältesten! Horcht alle auf, die ihr im Lande wohnt! Geschah dergleichen wohl in euren Tagen? Geschah's in eurer Väter Tagen?
Hear this O elders and give ear O all [the] inhabitants of the land ¿ has it happened this in days your and or? in [the] days of ancestors your.
3 Davon erzählet euren Kindern, und eure Kinder ihren Kindern, und deren Kinder einem künftigen Geschlecht!
On it to children your recount and children your to children their and children their to a generation another.
4 Was übrigließ der Nager, fraß die Heuschrecke; was übrigließ die Heuschrecke, das fraß der Fresser, und was der Fresser übrigließ, das fraß der Abschäler."

5 Ihr Zecher, wachet auf und weinet! Und heult, ihr Weinvertilger alle, um den Wein, daß eurem Munde er entzogen ist!
Awake O drunkards and weep and wail O all drinkers of wine on sweet wine for it has been cut off from mouth your.
6 "Ein Volk drang in mein Land, gewaltig, ohne Zahl, und seine Zähne waren Löwenzähne, sein Gebiß das einer Löwin.
For a nation it has come up on land my mighty and there not [is] number teeth its [are the] teeth of a lion and [the] fangs of a lioness [belong] to it.
7 Es machte meinen Weinstock wüst und meinen Feigenbaum zu Reisig; es hat ihn gänzlich abgeschält und ihn vernichtet, und seine Ranken wurden blaß
It has made vine[s] my into a waste and fig tree[s] my into a stump completely it has stripped bare it and it has thrown [it] away they have become white branches its.
8 wie eine Jungfrau, die ihr Trauerkleid sich anlegt wegen des Verlobten ihrer Jugend."
Wail like a virgin girded of sackcloth on [the] husband of youth her.
9 Speise- und Trankopfer im Haus des Herrn gibt's nimmermehr. Die Priester schmachten hin, des Herren Diener.
It has been cut off grain offering and drink offering from [the] house of Yahweh they are in mourning the priests [the] servants of Yahweh.
10 "Verwüstet ist die Flur, in Trauer das Gefilde; denn abgestorben ist das Korn, der Wein versiegt, das Öl vertrocknet."
It is devastated [the] field[s] it is dried up [the] ground for it is devastated [the] grain it has dried up [the] new wine it has dried out [the] fresh oil.
11 Die Ackersleute sind enttäuscht; die Bauern klagen um den Weizen und die Gerste. Des Feldes Ernte ist dahin.
Be ashamed O farmers wail O vinedressers on [the] wheat and on [the] barley for it has perished [the] harvest of [the] field.
12 "Der Weinstock ist verdorrt, der Feigenbaum verwelkt. Granaten, Palmen, Apfelbäume, des Feldes Bäume insgesamt sind dürr. - Beschämt entfloh die Freude von den Menschkindern."
The vine it has dried up and the fig tree it has dried out [the] pomegranate tree also [the] palm tree and [the] apple tree all [the] trees of the field they have dried up for it has been ashamed joy from [the] children of humankind.
13 So hüllet euch in Bußgewänder! Klagt, Priester! Wehklagt, Diener des Altars! Geht heim! Verbringt die Nacht in Bußgewändern, ihr, meines Gottes Diener! Versagt sind die Speise- und Trankopfer dem Hause eures Gottes.
Gird yourselves and lament O priests wail O servants of [the] altar come spend [the] night in sackcloth O servants of God my for it has been withheld from [the] house of God your grain offering and drink offering.
14 Ein Fasten ordnet an! Berufet eine Volksversammlung, Älteste! Versammelt alle Einwohner des Landes hin zum Haus des Herren, eures Gottes, und ruft zum Herrn:
Consecrate a fast call an assembly gather [the] elders all [the] inhabitants of the land [the] house of Yahweh God your and cry out to Yahweh.
15 "Weh, welch ein Tag!" Ja, nahe ist der Tag des Herrn; Lawinen aus dem Hochgebirge gleich kommt er heran.
Alas! for the day for [is] near [the] day of Yahweh and like devastation from [the] Almighty it will come.
16 "Ward nicht vor unsern Augen Nahrung weggenommen, aus unseres Gottes Haus die Freude und der Jubel?"
¿ Not before eyes our food has it been cut off from [the] house of God our joy and rejoicing.
17 "Die Körner sind vertrocknet unter ihren Schollen. Verödet sind die Speicher, entleert die Scheunen; denn das Getreide ist dahin.
They have shriveled [the] seeds under shovels their they are desolate [the] storehouses they have been torn down [the] granaries for it has dried up [the] grain.
18 Wie klagt das Vieh? Die Rinderherden sind verstört; denn nirgends Weide mehr für sie! Zugrunde gehn der Schafe Herden."
How! it has groaned [the] livestock they have wandered in confusion [the] herds of cattle for not pasture [belongs] to them also [the] flocks of sheep they have suffered.
19 Sie schreien, Herr, zu Dir. Denn Feuer zehrt der Steppe Auen auf und Flammenglut des Feldes Bäume all.
To you O Yahweh I call for fire it has consumed [the] pastures of [the] wilderness and a flame it has set ablaze all [the] trees of the field.
20 Des Feldes wilde Tiere schreien selbst zu Dir. Denn ausgetrocknet sind die Wasserbäche; Feuer hat verzehrt der Steppe Auen.
Also [the] animals of [the] field it pants to you for they have dried up [the] channels of water and fire it has consumed [the] pastures of the wilderness.
