Psalm 54

1 Auf den Siegesspender, bei Saitenspiel, ein Lehrgedicht, von David, als die Ziphiter zu Saul kamen und sagten "HäIt bei uns sich David nicht verborgen?" Hilf mir, o Gott, durch Deinen Namen! Verschaff mir Recht durch Deine Stärke!

“To the chief musician on Neginoth, a Maskil of David, When the Ziphim came and said to Saul, Behold, David is hiding himself with us.” O God, by thy name save me, and by thy strength grant me justice.

2 Gott! Höre mein Gebet! Vernimm die Worte meines Mundes'

O God, hear my prayer; give ear to the words of my mouth.

3 Erheben Fremdlinge sich gegen mich und trachten Mächtige mir nach dem Leben und stellen Gott sich nicht vor Augen, (Sela)

For strangers [to goodness] are risen up against me, and powerful oppressors seek after my soul: they have not set God before them. (Selah)

4 so ist mir Gott ein Helfer. Der Herr bleibt der Beschirmer meines Lebens.

Behold, God is a helper unto me: the Lord is among those that uphold my soul.

5 Auf meine Feinde falle Ungemach zurück! Vertilge sie nach Deiner Treue!

He will cause the evil to return upon those that regard me with envy: in thy truth cut them off.

6 Ein reichlich Opfer bringe ich Dir darund rühme Deinen Namen, Herr, daß er so gütig ist.

I will liberally sacrifice unto thee: I will give thanks unto thy name, O Lord; for it is good.

7 Er rettet mich aus aller Not; mein Auge weidet sich an meinen Feinden.

For out of all distress hath he delivered me: and my eye hath seen [its desire] on my enemies.
