2 Samuel 18
1 Nun musterte David das Kriegsvolk, das er bei sich hatte, und stellte an ihre Spitze Anführer über je tausend und über je hundert.
Therfor Dauid, whanne the puple `was biholdun, ordeynede tribunes and centuriouns on hem.
2 Sodann teilte David das Kriegsvolk in drei Teile, ein Dritteil unter dem Befehle Joabs, ein Dritteil unter dem Befehle von Joabs Bruder Abisai, dem Sohne der Zeruja, ein Dritteil unter den Befehle des Gathiters Ithai. Dabei erklärte David den Leuten: Ich bin entschlossen, ebenfalls mit euch ins Feld zu ziehen.
And he yaf the thridde part of the puple vndur the hond of Joab; and the thridde part vndur the hond of Abisai, sone of Saruye, brother of Joab; and the thridde part vndur the hond of Ethai, that was of Geth. And the kyng seide to the puple, Also Y schal go out with you.
3 Die Leute erwiderten: Du darfst nicht ins Feld ziehen! Denn falls wir die Flucht ergriffen, wird man sich um uns nicht kümmern; auch wenn die Hälfte von uns ums Leben käme, wird man sich um uns nicht kümmern, denn du bist wie von uns zehntausend. Auch ist es jetzt besser, wenn du uns von der Stadt aus zur Hilfe bereit bist.
And the puple answeride, Thou schalt not go out; for whether we fleen, it schal not perteyne to hem bi greet werk of vs; whether half the part fallith doun of vs, thei schulen not recke ynow, for thou art rekynyd for ten thousynde; therfor it is betere, that thou be to vs in the citee in stronge hold.
4 Der König entgegnete ihnen: Was euch gut dünkt, will ich thun. Sodann stellte sich der König an die Seite des Thors, während alles Volk nach Hunderten und Tausenden auszog.
`To whiche the kyng seide, Y schal do this, that semeth riytful to you. Therfor the kyng stood bisidis the yate, and the puple yede out bi her cumpenyes, bi hundridis and bi thousyndis.
5 Der König gab aber Joab, Abisai und Ithai den Befehl: Verfahrt mir gelinde mit dem jungen Manne, mit Absalom! Und alles Volk hörte zu, wie der König allen Heerführern Absaloms halber Befehl erteilte.
And the king comaundide to Joab, and to Abisai, and Ethai, and seyde, Kepe ye to me the child Absolon. And al the puple herde the kyng comaundinge to alle the princes for Absolon.
6 So zogen die Leute ins Feld, Israel entgegen. Im Walde von Mahanaim kam es zur Schlacht.
Therfor the puple yede out in to the feeld ayens Israel; and the batel was maad in the forest of Effraym.
7 Dort wurden die Leute von Israel von Davids Kriegern zurückgeschlagen, so saß an jenem Tage dort eine schwere Niederlage erfolgte - zwanzigtausend Mann.
And the puple of Israel was slayn there of the oost of Dauid, and a greet sleyng of twenti thousynde was maad in that dai.
8 Es verbreitete sich aber dort der Kampf über das ganze Land, und der Wald raffte mehr Leute hinweg, als das Schwert an jenem Tage weggerafft hatte.
Forsothe the batel was scaterid there on the face of al erthe, and many mo weren of the puple whiche the forest wastide, than thei whiche the swerd deuourid in that dai.
9 Da kam Absalom zufällig Davids Kriegern unter die Augen. Absalom ritt nämlich ein Maultier, und das Maultier drang in das dichte Terebinthengebüsch ein, so daß sein Kopf in einer Terebinthe hängen blieb, und er so zwischen Himmel und Erde schwebte, während das Maultier unter ihm davonlief.
Sotheli it bifeld, that Absalon sittinge on a mule, cam ayens the seruauntis of Dauid; and whanne the mule hadde entrid vndur a thicke ook, and greet, the heed of Absolon cleuyde to the ook; and whanne he was hangid bitwixe heuene and erthe, the mule, on which he sat, passide.
10 Das sah einer, der teilte es Joab mit und sprach: Da habe ich eben Absalom an der Therebinthe hängen sehen!
Sotheli `sum man siy this, and telde to Joab, and seide, Y siy Absolon hange on an ook.
11 Joab erwiderte dem Manne, der ihm die Kunde brachte: Nun, wenn du ihn gesehen hast, warum hast du ihn da nicht auf der Stelle zu Boden geschlagen? An mir wäre es dann gewesen, dir zehn Silbersekel und einen Gürtel zu geben!
And Joab seide to the man that `hadde telde to hym, If thou siyest, whi persidist thou not hym to the erthe, and Y schulde haue youe `to thee ten siclis of siluer, and a girdil?
12 Der Mann entgegnete jedoch Joab: Und wenn man mir tausend Silbersekel in die Hand zahlte - ich würde an des Königs Sohn nicht Hand anlegen; hat doch der König vor unseren Ohren dir, Abisai und Ithai den Befehl gegeben: Habt mir auf den jungen Mann, auf Absalom acht!
And he seide to Joab, Thouy thou paiedist in myn hondis a thousynde platis of siluer, Y nolde sende myn hond in to the sone of the king; for the while we herden, the kyng comaundide to thee, and to Abisai, and to Ethai, and seide, Kepe ye to me the child Absolon.
13 Hätte ich aber heimtückisch gegen ihn gehandelt - es bleibt ja dem Könige nicht das Geringste verborgen -, du würdest dich dann doch beiseite halten!
But and if Y hadde do ayens my lijf hardili, this myyte not be hid fro the kyng, and thou woldist stonde on the contrarye side.
14 Da rief Joab: Unter diesen Umständen mag ich mich nicht länger mit dir aufhalten! ergriff drei Wurfspieße und stieß sie Absalom in die Brust. da er aber im Gezweige der Terebinthe hängend noch am Leben war,
And Joab seide, Not as thou wolt, `Absolon schal be kept, but Y schal asaile hym bifor thee. Therfore Joab took thre speris in his hond, and fitchide tho in the herte of Absolon. And whanne he spraulide, yit cleuynge in the ook,
15 traten zehn Knappen, Joabs Waffenträger, herzu und schlugen Absalom vollends tot.
ten yonge squieris of Joab runnen, and smytiden, and killiden hym.
16 Alsdann ließ Joab in die Posaune stoßen; da standen die Krieger von der Verfolgung Israels ab, denn Joab gebot den Kriegern Halt.
Sotheli Joab sownede with a clarioun, and withhelde the puple, lest it pursuede Israel fleynge, and he wolde spare the multitude.
17 Darauf nahmen sie Absalom, warfen ihn in ein großes Loch im Wald und türmten einen mächtigen Steinhaufen über ihm auf. Die Israeliten aber hatten sich ingesamt ein jeder in seine Heimat geflüchtet.
And thei token Absolon, and castiden forth him in to a greet dich in the forest, and baren togidere a ful greet heep of stoonys on hym; forsothe al Israel fledde in to his tabernaclis.
18 Absalom hatte schon bei Lebzeiten den Malstein im Königsthale genommen und ihn für sich errichtet, weil er sich sagte: Ich habe keinen Sohn, um meinen Namen fortleben zu lassen! und hatte den Malstein mit seinem Namen benannt. Daher heißt er bis zum heutigen Tage das Denkmal Absaloms.
Forsothe Absolon, while he lyuyde yit, hadde reisid to hym a memorial, which is in the valey of the kyng; for he seide, Y haue no sone, and this schal be the mynde of my name; and he clepide `the memorial bi his name, and it is clepid the Hond, `that is, werk, of Absolon `til to this dai.
19 Ahimaaz aber, der Sohn Zadoks, rief: Ich möchte gern hinlaufen und dem Könige die Botschaft bringen, daß ihm Jahwe Recht geschafft hat gegenüber seinen Feinden.
Forsothe Achymaas, sone of Sadoch, seide, Y schal renne, and Y schal telle to the kyng, that the Lord hath maad doom to hym of the hond of hise enemyes.
20 Joab erwiderte ihm: Du bist am heutigen Tage nicht der Mann für eine Botschaft; ein andermal magst du Botschaft bringen: am heutigen Tage aber darfst du nicht Botschaft bringen, ist ja doch des Königs Sohn tot!
To whom Joab seide, Thou schalt not be messanger in this dai, but thou schalt telle in another dai; I nyle that thou telle to dai, for the sone of the kyng is deed.
21 Hierauf gebot Joab dem Mohren: geh, melde dem Könige, was du gesehen hast! Da warf sich der Mohr vor Joab nieder und lief davon.
And Joab seide to Chusi, Go thou, and telle to the kyng tho thingis that thou hast seyn. Chusi worschypide Joab, and ran.
22 Nun redete Ahimaaz, der Sohn Zadoks, Joab noch einmal an: Mag kommen, was da will: ich möchte doch auch noch hinter dem Mohren herlaufen! Joab entgegnete. Was willst du den hinlaufen, mein Sohn, da dir doch kein Botenlohn ausgezahlt werden wird?
Eft Achymaas, sone of Sadoch, seide to Joab, What lettith, if also Y renne aftir Chusi? And Joab seide to hym, What wolt thou renne, my sone? Come thou hidur, thou schalt not be a berere of good message.
23 Er antwortete: Mag kommen, was da will - ich laufe hin! Da sprach er zu ihm: So laufe! Da lief Ahimaaz den Weg durch die Jordanaue und überholte den Mohren.
Which answeride, `What sotheli if Y schal renne? And Joab seide to hym, Renn thou. Therfor Achymaas ran bi the weie of schortnesse, `and sped, and passide Chusi.
24 David saß eben zwischen den beiden Thoren. Der Späher aber stieg auf das Dach des Thors gegen die Mauer hin. Als er nun ausschaute, nahm er war, wie ein Mann allein daherlief.
Forsothe Dauid sat bitwixe twei yatis; sotheli the spiere, that was in the hiynesse of the yate on the wal, reiside the iyen, and siy a man aloone rennynge;
25 Der Späher rief dem Könige die Meldung zu. der König sprach: Ist er allein, so bringt er gute Botschaft! Jener lief und lief und war schon nahe herangekommen,
and the spiere criede, and schewide to the kyng. And the kyng seide to hym, If he is aloone, good message is in his mouth.
26 da sah der Späher einen zweiten Mann einherlaufen. Der Späher rief ins Thor hinein: Da läuft noch ein zweiter Mann allein daher. Der König sprach: Auch der bringt gute Botschaft!
Sotheli while he hastide, and neiyede neer, the spiere siy another man rennynge; and the spiere criede `in the hiynesse, and seide, Another man rennynge aloone apperith to me. And the kyng seide to hym, And this man is a good messanger.
27 Da rief der Späher: So viel ich sehe, gleicht das Laufen des ersten dem Laufen des Ahimaaz, des Sohnes Zadoks. Der König sprach: Das ist ein trefflicher Mann, der kommt zu glücklicher Botschaft!
Sotheli the spiere seide, Y biholde the rennyng of the formere, as the rennyng of Achymaas, sone of Sadoch. And the kyng seide, He is a good man, and he cometh bryngynge a good message.
28 Ahimaaz aber kam heran und rief dem Könige zu: Heil! warf sich sodann vor dem Könige mit dem Angesicht zur Erde nieder und sprach: Gepriesen sei Jahwe, dein Gott, der die Leute preisgegeben hat, die wider meinen königlichen Herrn ihre Hand erhoben haben!
Forsothe Achymaas criede, and seide to the kyng, Heil kyng! And he worschipide the kyng lowli bifor hym to erthe, and seide, Blessid be thi Lord God, that closide togidere the men, that reisyden her hondis ayens my lord the kyng.
29 Der König fragte: Geht es dem jungen Manne, dem Absalom, wohl? Ahimaaz sagte: Ich sah einen großen Zusammenlauf, als Joab deinen Sklaven abschickte; aber ich habe nicht erfahren, was vorging.
And the kyng seide, Whether pees is to the child Absolon? And Achymaas seide, Y siy, `that is, Y herde, a great noise, whanne Joab, thi seruaunt, thou kyng, sente me thi seruaunt; Y kan noon othir thing.
30 Der König erwiderte: Tritt beiseite und stelle dich hierher! Da trat er beiseite und stand da,
To whom the kyng seide, Passe thou, and stonde here. And whanne he hadde passid, and stood, Chusi apperide;
31 als eben der Mohr eintraf. Der Mohr rief: Mein königlicher Herr lasse sich frohe Botschaft melden; denn heute hat Jahwe dir Recht geschafft gegenüber allen, die sich gegen dich empört haben!
and he cam and seide, My lord the kyng, Y brynge good message; for the Lord hath demed to dai for thee of the hond of alle men that risiden ayens thee.
32 Der König fragte den Mohren: Geht es dem jungen Manne, dem Absalom, wohl? Der Mohr erwiderte: Mögen die Feinde meines königlichen Herrn und alle, die sich feindlich wider dich erheben, dem jungen Manne gleich werden!
Forsothe the kyng seide to Chusi, Whether pees is to the child Absolon? To whom Chusi answeride, and seide, The enemyes of my lord the kyng, and alle men that risiden ayens hym in to yuel, be maad as the child.
33 Da erbebte der König, ging in das Obergemach im Thore hinauf und weinte. Im Gehen aber rief er die Worte: Mein Sohn Absalom! Mein Sohn, mein Sohn Absalom! O wäre doch ich statt deiner gestorben, Absalom, mein Sohn, mein Sohn!
Therfor the kyng was sory, and stiede in to the soler of the yate, and wepte, and spak thus goynge, My sone, Absolon! Absolon, my sone! who yyueth to me, that Y die for thee? Absolon, my sone! my sone, Absolon!
