4 Mose 32
1 Es hatten aber die Rubeniten und die Gaditen einen großen Viehstand, einen sehr starken. Als sie nun den Bezirk Jaeser und den Bezirk Gilead besichtigten, fanden sie, daß die Gegend zur Viehzucht geeignet sei.
And much cattle hath been to the sons of Reuben and to the sons of Gad, very many; and they see the land of Jazer, and the land of Gilead, and lo, the place [is] a place [for] cattle;
2 Da gingen die Gaditen und die Rubeniten hin und sprachen zu Mose und zu Eleasar, dem Priester, und zu den Vorständen der Gemeinde also:
and the sons of Gad, and the sons of Reuben, come in and speak unto Moses, and unto Eleazar the priest, and unto the princes of the company, saying:
3 Ataroth, Dibon, Jaeser, Nimra, Hesbon, Eleals, Sebam, Nebo und Beon, -
'Ataroth, and Dibon, and Jazer, and Nimrah, and Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Shebam, and Nebo, and Beon —
4 der Bezirk, den Jahwe von der Gemeinde Israel hat bezwingen lassen, - ist wohlgeeignet zur Viehzucht, und wir, deine Knechte, haben starken Viehstand.
the land which Jehovah hath smitten before the company of Israel, is a land for cattle, and thy servants have cattle.'
5 Und sie sprachen: Wenn wir Gnade bei dir gefunden haben, so möge doch dieser Bezirk deinen Knechten als erblicher Besitze verliehen werden; führe uns nicht über den Jordan!
And they say, 'If we have found grace in thine eyes, let this land be given to thy servants for a possession; cause us not to pass over the Jordan.'
6 Mose antwortete den Gaditen und Rubeniten: Wie? eure Brüder sollen in den Kampf ziehen, und ihr wollt hier bleiben?
And Moses saith to the sons of Gad and to the sons of Reuben, 'Do your brethren go in to the battle, and ye — do ye sit here?
7 Warum wollt ihr doch euren Brüdern den Mut benehmen, in das Land hinüberzuziehen, das ihnen Jahwe verliehen hat?
and why discourage ye the heart of the sons of Israel from passing over unto the land which Jehovah hath given to them?
8 Gerade so haben eure Väter gehandelt, als ich sie von Kades Barnea aussandte, das Land zu besichtigen.
'Thus did your fathers in my sending them from Kadesh-Barnea to see the land;
9 Als sie aber bis zum Thal Eskol gelangt waren und das Land besichtigt hatten, benahmen sie den Israeliten den Mut, so daß sie nicht in das Land wollten, das ihnen Jahwe verliehen hatte.
and they go up unto the valley of Eshcol, and see the land, and discourage the heart of the sons of Israel so as not to go in unto the land which Jehovah hath given to them;
10 Jenes Tags geriet Jahwe in Zorn und that den Schwur:
and the anger of Jehovah burneth in that day, and He sweareth, saying,
11 Die Männer, die aus Ägypten gezogen sind, von zwanzig Jahren an und darüber, sollen das Land nicht zu sehen bekommen, das ich Abraham, Isaak und Jakob zugeschworen habe. Denn Sie haben mir nicht vollen Gehorsam bewiesen,
They do not see — the men who are coming up out of Egypt from a son of twenty years and upward — the ground which I have sworn to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, for they have not been fully after Me;
12 ausgenommen Kaleb, der Sohn Jephunnes, der Kenisiter, und Josua, der Sohn Nuns; denn sie haben Jahwe vollen Gehorsam bewiesen.
save Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenezite, and Joshua son of Nun, for they have been fully after Jehovah;
13 Und Jahwe wurde zornig über Israel und er ließ sie hin und her ziehen in der Steppe vierzig Jahre lang, bis das ganze Geschlecht ausgestorben war, das sich gegen Jahwe versündigt hatte.
and the anger of Jehovah burneth against Israel, and He causeth them to wander in the wilderness forty years, until the consumption of all the generation which is doing the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah.
14 Und nun seid ihr aufgetreten an Stelle eurer Väter, eine Brut von Sündern, um den heftigen Zorn Jahwes über Israel noch zu steigern.
'And lo, ye have risen in the stead of your fathers, an increase of men — sinners, to add yet to the fury of the anger of Jehovah toward Israel;
15 Wenn ihr euch von ihm abwendet, so wird er es noch länger in der Steppe lassen, und ihr werdet so dieses ganze Volk ins Verderben stürzen!
when ye turn back from after Him, then He hath added yet to leave him in the wilderness, and ye have done corruptly to all this people.'
16 Und sie traten zu ihm heran und sprachen: Wir wollen hier Schafhürden für unsere Herden errichten und Städte für unsere kleinen Kinder.
And they come nigh unto him, and say, 'Folds for the flock we build for our cattle here, and cities for our infants;
17 Wir selbst aber wollen kampfgerüstet an der Spitze der Israeliten einherziehen, bis wir sie in ihre Wohnsitze gebracht haben; unsere kleinen Kinder aber sollen wegen der Bewohner des Landes in den festen Städten bleiben.
and we — we are armed hasting before the sons of Israel till that we have brought them in unto their place; and our infants have dwelt in the cities of defence because of the inhabitants of the land;
18 Wir wollen nicht eher zu unseren Häusern zurückkehren, als bis sämtliche Israeliten zu ihrem Erbbesitze gelangt sind.
we do not turn back unto our houses till the sons of Israel have inherited each his inheritance,
19 Denn wir werden so ja nicht zusammen mit ihnen drüben über dem Jordan Erbbesitz erhalten, sondern uns ist die Gegend östlich vom Jordan als Erbbesitz zugefallen.
for we do not inherit with them beyond the Jordan and yonder, for our inheritance hath come unto us beyond the Jordan at the [sun] -rising.'
20 Mose sprach zu ihnen: Wenn ihr das thun wollt, daß ihr euch im Angesichte Jahwes zum Kampfe rüstet,
And Moses saith unto them, 'If ye do this thing: if ye are armed before Jehovah for battle,
21 und daß alle die unter euch, welche gerüstet sind, im Angesichte Jahwes den Jordan überschreiten, bis er seine Feinde vor sich ausgetrieben hat,
and every armed one of you hath passed over the Jordan before Jehovah, till his dispossessing His enemies from before Him,
22 und ihr erst dann umkehrt, wenn das Land von Jahwe bezwungen ist, so sollt ihr eurer Verpflichtung gegenüber Jahwe und gegenüber Israel ledig sein, und dieses Land soll euch nach dem Willen Jahwes als Erbbesitz zufallen.
and the land hath been subdued before Jehovah — then afterwards ye do turn back, and have been acquitted by Jehovah, and by Israel; and this land hath been to you for a possession before Jehovah.
23 Wenn ihr aber nicht so handelt, so versündigt ihr euch damit gegen Jahwe und sollt erfahren, was euch infolge eurer Versündigung betreffen wird.
'And if ye do not so, lo, ye have sinned against Jehovah, and know ye your sin, that it doth find you;
24 Baut euch Städte für eure kleinen Kinder und Hürden für eure Schafe und thut, wie ihr gesagt habt.
build for yourselves cities for your infants, and folds for your flock, and that which is going out from your mouth do ye.'
25 Da erwiderten die Gaditen und Rubeniten Mose Folgendes: Deine Knechte werden thun, wie du, o Herr, befiehlst.
And the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben speak unto Moses, saying, 'Thy servants do as my lord is commanding;
26 Unsere kleinen Kinder, unsere Weiber, unser Vieh und unsere sämtlichen Lasttiere sollen hier bleiben in den Städten Gileads.
our infants, our wives, our cattle, and all our beasts, are there in cities of Gilead,
27 Wir aber, deine Knechte, wollen im Angesichte Jahwes, so viele von uns kriegsgerüstet sind, hinüber in den Kampf ziehen, wie du, o Herr, gesagt hast.
and thy servants pass over, every armed one of the host, before Jehovah, to battle, as my lord is saying.'
28 Da gab Mose Eleasar, dem Priester, und Josua, dem Sohne Nuns, und den Stammhäuptern der Israeliten ihrethalben Anweisung.
And Moses commandeth concerning them Eleazar the priest, and Joshua son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the sons of Israel;
29 Und Mose sprach zu ihnen: Wenn die Gaditen und Rubeniten, so viele ihrer gerüstet sind, mit euch im Angesichte Jahwes über den Jordan hinüber in den Kampf ziehen, und das Land von euch bezwungen sein wird, so gebt ihnen das Land Gilead zum Erbbesitz.
and Moses saith unto them, 'If the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben pass over with you the Jordan, every one armed for battle, before Jehovah, and the land hath been subdued before you, then ye have given to them the land of Gilead for a possession;
30 Ziehen sie aber nicht kampfgerüstet mit euch hinüber, so sollen sie unter euch in Kanaan ansässig werden.
and if they do not pass over armed with you, then they have possessions in your midst in the land of Canaan.'
31 Da antworteten die Gaditen und Rubeniten also: Wie Jahwe in Bezug auf uns, deine Knechte, geredet hat, so wollen wir thun.
And the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben answer, saying, 'That which Jehovah hath spoken unto thy servants — so we do;
32 Wir wollen kampfgerüstet im Angesichte Jahwes hinüberziehen nach Kannan, damit uns unser Erbbesitz jenseits des Jordans verbleibe.
we — we pass over armed before Jehovah [to] the land of Canaan, and with us [is] the possession of our inheritance beyond the Jordan.'
33 Da verlieh ihnen Mose - den Gaditen, den Rubeniten und dem halben Stamme Mansses, des Sohnes Josephs, - das Königreich Sihons, des Königs der Amoriter, und das Königreich Ogs, des Königs von Basan, das Land und die Städte darin samt den zugehörigen Bezirken, die Städte im Lande ringsum.
And Moses giveth to them, to the sons of Gad, and to the sons of Reuben, and to the half of the tribe of Manasseh son of Joseph, the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorite, and the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, the land by its cities, in the borders, the cities of the land round about.
34 Da bauten die Gaditen wieder auf: Dibon, Ataroth, Aroer,
And the sons of Gad build Dihon, and Ataroth, and Aroer,
35 Aterot, Sophan, Jaeser, Jogbeha,
and Atroth, Shophan, and Jaazer, and Jogbehah,
36 Beth Nimra und Beth Haran - feste Städte und Schafhürden.
and Beth-Nimrah, and Beth-Haran, cities of defence, and sheepfolds.
37 Die Rubeniten aber bauten wieder auf: Hesbon, Eleale, Kirjathaim,
And the sons of Reuben have build Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Kirjathaim,
38 Nebo, Baal Meon (mit verändertem Namen zu sprechen!) und Sibma; und sie gaben den Städten, die sie wieder aufgebaut hatten, Namen.
and Nebo, and Baal-Meon (changed in name), and Shibmah, and they call by [these] names the names of the cities which they have built.
39 Die Söhne Machirs aber, des Sohnes Manasses, zogen nach Gilead und eroberten es und vertrieben die Amoriter, die darin waren.
And sons of Machir son of Manasseh go to Gilead, and capture it, and dispossess the Amorite, who [is] in it;
40 Und Mose verlieh Machir, dem Sohne Manasses, Gilead, und er ließ sich darin nieder.
and Moses giveth Gilead to Machir son of Manasseh, and he dwelleth in it.
41 Jair aber, der Sohn Machirs, zog hin, eroberte ihre Zeltdörfer und nannte sie Zeltdörfer Jairs.
And Jair son of Manasseh hath gone and captureth their towns, and calleth them 'Towns of Jair;'
42 Und Nobah zog hin, eroberte Kenath samt den zugehörigen Ortschaften und benannte es nach seinem Namen Nobah.
and Nobah hath gone and captureth Kenath, and its villages, and calleth it Nobah, by his own name.
