Psalm 70

1 Dem Musikmeister. Von David, um in Erinnerung zu bringen. Laß dir's gefallen, Gott, mich zu retten; Jahwe, eile mir zu Hilfe!

God, please save me! Yahweh, come quickly to help me!

2 Laß beschämt und enttäuscht werden, die mir nach dem Leben trachten: laß zurückweichen und zu Schanden werden, die mein Unglück wollen.

Humble those who are happy about my troubles/difficulties, and cause them to be disgraced/ashamed. Chase away those who are trying to kill me.

3 Laß umkehren ob ihrer Schande, die da rufen: Ha, Ha!

I hope/desire that you will cause them to become dismayed and ashamed [because you have defeated them].

4 Laß jubeln und sich freuen über dich alle, die dich suchen, und mögen immerdar rufen: Groß ist Gott! die nach deinem Heile verlangen.

[But] I hope/desire that all those who go to [worship] you will be very joyful [DOU]. I want those who love you because you saved them to shout repeatedly [HYP], “God is great!”

5 Ich aber bin elend und arm; o Gott, eile, mir zu gut! Meine Hilfe und mein Retter bist du; Jahwe, säume nicht!

As for me, I am poor and needy [DOU]; [so] God, come quickly to help me! Yahweh, you are the one who saves and helps me, [so please] come quickly!
