1 Ja, du bist schön, meine Freundin, ja du bist schön: deine Augen sind Taubenaugen zwischen deinem Schleier hervor. Dein Haar gleicht der Ziegenherde, die am Berge Gilead herab sich lagert.
Behold, thou [art] fair, my love; behold, thou [art] fair; thou [hast] doves’ eyes within thy locks: thy hair [is] as a flock of goats, that appear from mount Gilead.
2 Deine Zähne sind wie eine Herde frisch geschorener Schafe, die aus der Schwemme gestiegen, die allzumal Zwillinge tragen, und deren keines unfruchtbar.
Thy teeth [are] like a flock [of sheep that are even] shorn, which came up from the washing; whereof every one bear twins, and none [is] barren among them.
3 Wie ein Scharlachfaden sind deine Lippen, und lieblich dein Mund. Wie eine Granatapfelscheibe leuchtet deine Schläfe hinter deinem Schleier hervor.
Thy lips [are] like a thread of scarlet, and thy speech [is] comely: thy temples [are] like a piece of a pomegranate within thy locks.
4 Wie Davids Turm ist dein Hals, erbaut für Trophäenschmuck. Tausend Schilde hängen daran, alle Tartschen der Helden.
Thy neck [is] like the tower of David builded for an armoury, whereon there hang a thousand bucklers, all shields of mighty men.
5 Deine Brüste gleichen zwei Rehkälbchen, Gazellenzwillingen, die in den Lilien weiden.
Thy two breasts [are] like two young roes that are twins, which feed among the lilies.
6 Bis der Tag sich verkühlt, und die Schatten fliehn, will ich zum Balsamberge gehn und zum Weihrauchhügel.
Until the day break, and the shadows flee away, I will get me to the mountain of myrrh, and to the hill of frankincense.
7 Alles ist schön an dir, meine Freundin, und kein Fehl ist an dir!
Thou [art] all fair, my love; [there is] no spot in thee.
8 Mit mir, vom Libanon, o Braut, komm mit mir vom Libanon! Wandre herab von Amanas Gipfel, vom Gipfel des Senir und Hermon, von den Löwenwohnungen, von den Pantherbergen.
Come with me from Lebanon, [my] spouse, with me from Lebanon: look from the top of Amana, from the top of Shenir and Hermon, from the lions’ dens, from the mountains of the leopards.
9 Du hast mich des Verstandes beraubt, meine Schwester Braut, du hast mich des Verstandes beraubt durch einen deiner Blicke, durch eine Kette von deinem Halsgeschmeide.
Thou hast ravished my heart, my sister, [my] spouse; thou hast ravished my heart with one of thine eyes, with one chain of thy neck.
10 Wie süß ist deine Liebe, meine Schwester Braut! Wie viel köstlicher ist deine Liebe als Wein, und deiner Salben Duft als alle Wohlgerüche!
How fair is thy love, my sister, [my] spouse! how much better is thy love than wine! and the smell of thine ointments than all spices!
11 Honigseim träufeln deine Lippen, Braut, Honig und Milch birgt deine Zunge, und der Duft deiner Kleider gleicht dem Dufte des Libanon.
Thy lips, O [my] spouse, drop [as] the honeycomb: honey and milk [are] under thy tongue; and the smell of thy garments [is] like the smell of Lebanon.
12 Ein verschlossener Garten ist meine Schwester Braut, ein verschlossener Born, ein versiegelter Quell.
A garden inclosed [is] my sister, [my] spouse; a spring shut up, a fountain sealed.
13 Deine Schößlinge sind ein Granatenhain mit köstlichen Früchten, Cyprusblumen samt Narden,
Thy plants [are] an orchard of pomegranates, with pleasant fruits; camphire, with spikenard,
14 Narde und Krokus, Kalmus und Zimt samt allerlei Weihrauchsträuchern, Balsam und Aloe samt allerlei besten Spezereien.
Spikenard and saffron; calamus and cinnamon, with all trees of frankincense; myrrh and aloes, with all the chief spices:
15 Eine Gartenquelle bist du, ein Brunnen lebendigen Wassers und vom Libanon rinnende Bäche.
A fountain of gardens, a well of living waters, and streams from Lebanon.
16 Erwache, Nord, und komm, o Süd, durchwehe meinen Garten, daß sein Balsamduft ströme! Es komme mein Geliebter in seinen Garten und genieße seine köstlichen Früchte.
Awake, O north wind; and come, thou south; blow upon my garden, [that] the spices thereof may flow out. Let my beloved come into his garden, and eat his pleasant fruits.
