Γένεσις 28
1 Και προσκαλέσας ο Ισαάκ τον Ιακώβ ευλόγησεν αυτόν, και παρήγγειλε προς αυτόν λέγων, Δεν θέλεις λάβει γυναίκα εκ των θυγατέρων Χαναάν·
And Isaac having called for Jacob, blessed him, and charged him, saying, Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of the Chananites.
2 σηκωθείς ύπαγε εις Παδάν-αράμ, εις την οικίαν Βαθουήλ του πατρός της μητρός σου· και εκείθεν λάβε εις σεαυτόν γυναίκα, εκ των θυγατέρων Λάβαν του αδελφού της μητρός σου·
Rise and depart quickly into Mesopotamia, to the house of Bathuel the father of thy mother, and take to thyself thence a wife of the daughters of Laban thy mother's brother.
3 και ο Θεός ο Παντοδύναμος να σε ευλογήση και να σε αυξήση και να σε πληθύνη, ώστε να γείνης εις πλήθος λαών·
And may my God bless thee, and increase thee, and multiply thee, and thou shalt become gatherings of nations.
4 και να σοι δώση την ευλογίαν του Αβραάμ, εις σε και εις το σπέρμα σου μετά σε, διά να κληρονομήσης την γην της παροικήσεώς σου, την οποίαν έδωκεν ο Θεός εις τον Αβραάμ.
And may he give thee the blessing of my father Abraam, even to thee and to thy seed after thee, to inherit the land of thy sojourning, which God gave to Abraam.
5 Και εξαπέστειλεν ο Ισαάκ τον Ιακώβ· και υπήγεν εις Παδάν-αράμ προς Λάβαν, τον υιόν του Βαθουήλ του Σύρου, τον αδελφόν Ρεβέκκας της μητρός του Ιακώβ και του Ησαύ.
So Isaac sent away Jacob, and he went into Mesopotamia to Laban the son of Bethuel the Syrian, the brother of Rebecca the mother of Jacob and Esau.
6 Ιδών δε ο Ησαύ ότι ευλόγησεν ο Ισαάκ τον Ιακώβ και εξαπέστειλεν αυτόν εις Παδάν-αράμ, διά να λάβη εις εαυτόν γυναίκα εκείθεν, και ότι, ενώ ευλόγει αυτόν, παρήγγειλεν εις αυτόν, λέγων, Δεν θέλεις λάβει γυναίκα εκ των θυγατέρων Χαναάν·
And Esau saw that Isaac blessed Jacob, and sent him away to Mesopotamia of Syria as he blessed him, to take to himself a wife thence, and [that] he charged him, saying, Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of the Chananites;
7 και ότι υπήκουσεν ο Ιακώβ εις τον πατέρα αυτού και την μητέρα αυτού· και υπήγεν εις Παδάν-αράμ·
and [that] Jacob hearkened to his father and his mother, and went to Mesopotamia of Syria.
8 και ιδών ο Ησαύ ότι αι θυγατέρες Χαναάν είναι μισηταί εις τους οφθαλμούς του πατρός αυτού Ισαάκ,
And Esau also having seen that the daughters of Chanaan were evil before his father Isaac,
9 υπήγεν ο Ησαύ προς τον Ισμαήλ, και εκτός των άλλων γυναικών αυτού έλαβεν εις εαυτόν γυναίκα την Μαελέθ, θυγατέρα Ισμαήλ του υιού του Αβραάμ, την αδελφήν του Ναβαϊώθ.
Esau went to Ismael, and took Maeleth the daughter of Ismael, the son of Abraam, the sister of Nabeoth, a wife in addition to his [other] wives.
10 Και εξήλθεν ο Ιακώβ από Βηρ-σαβεέ, και υπήγεν εις Χαρράν.
And Jacob went forth from the well of the oath, and departed into Charrhan.
11 Και έφθασεν εις τινά τόπον και διενυκτέρευσεν εκεί, διότι είχε δύσει ο ήλιος· και έλαβεν εκ των λίθων του τόπου και έθεσε προσκεφάλαιον αυτού, και εκοιμήθη εν τω τόπω εκείνω.
And came to a certain place and slept there, for the sun had gone down; and he took [one] of the stones of the place, and put it at his head, and lay down to sleep in that place,
12 Και είδεν ενύπνιον, και ιδού, κλίμαξ εστηριγμένη εις την γην, της οποίας η κορυφή έφθανεν εις τον ουρανόν· και ιδού, οι άγγελοι του Θεού ανέβαινον και κατέβαινον επ' αυτής.
and dreamed, and behold a ladder fixed on the earth, whose top reached to heaven, and the angels of God ascended and descended on it.
13 Και ιδού, ο Κύριος ίστατο επάνωθεν αυτής και είπεν, Εγώ είμαι Κύριος ο Θεός του Αβραάμ του πατρός σου, και ο Θεός του Ισαάκ· την γην, επί της οποίας κοιμάσαι, εις σε θέλω δώσει αυτήν και εις το σπέρμα σου.
And the Lord stood upon it, and said, I am the God of thy father Abraam, and the God of Isaac; fear not, the land on which thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed.
14 και θέλει είσθαι το σπέρμα σου ως η άμμος της γης, και θέλεις εξαπλωθή προς δύσιν και προς ανατολήν και προς βορράν και προς νότον· και θέλουσιν ευλογηθή εν σοι, και εν τω σπέρματί σου πάσαι αι φυλαί της γής·
And thy seed shall be as the sand of the earth; and it shall spread abroad to the sea, and the south, and the north, and to the east; and in thee and in thy seed shall all the tribes of the earth be blessed.
15 και ιδού, εγώ είμαι μετά σου, και θέλω σε διαφυλάττει πανταχού, όπου αν υπάγης, και θέλω σε επαναφέρει εις την γην ταύτην· διότι δεν θέλω σε εγκαταλείψει, εωσού κάμω όσα ελάλησα προς σε.
And behold I am with thee to preserve thee continually in all the way wherein thou shalt go; and I will bring thee back to this land; for I will not desert thee, until I have done all that I have said to thee.
16 Και εξεγερθείς ο Ιακώβ εκ του ύπνου αυτού, είπε, Βέβαια ο Κύριος είναι εν τω τόπω τούτω, και εγώ δεν ήξευρον.
And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and said, The Lord is in this place, and I knew it not.
17 Και εφοβήθη και είπε, Πόσον φοβερός είναι ο τόπος ούτος· δεν είναι τούτο, ειμή οίκος Θεού, και αύτη η πύλη του ουρανού.
And he was afraid, and said, How fearful is this place! this is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.
18 Και σηκωθείς ο Ιακώβ ενωρίς το πρωΐ, έλαβε τον λίθον τον οποίον είχε θέσει προσκεφάλαιον αυτού, και έστησεν αυτόν διά στήλην και έχυσεν έλαιον επί την κορυφήν αυτής.
And Jacob rose up in the morning, and took the stone he [had] laid there by his head, and he set it up [as] a pillar, and poured oil on the top of it.
19 Και εκάλεσε το όνομα του τόπου εκείνου, Βαιθήλ· το δε όνομα της πόλεως εκείνης ήτο πρότερον Λούζ.
And he called the name of that place, the House of God; and the name of the city before was Ulam-luz.
20 Και ευχήθη ο Ιακώβ ευχήν, λέγων, Αν ο Θεός ήναι μετ' εμού και με διαφυλάξη εν τη οδώ ταύτη εις την οποίαν υπάγω, και μοι δώση άρτον να φάγω και ένδυμα να ενδυθώ,
And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If the Lord God will be with me, and guard me throughout on this journey, on which I am going, and give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on,
21 και επιστρέψω εν ειρήνη εις τον οίκον του πατρός μου, τότε ο Κύριος θέλει είσθαι Θεός μου·
and bring me back in safety to the house of my father, then shall the Lord be for a God to me.
22 και ο λίθος ούτος, τον οποίον έστησα διά στήλην, θέλει είσθαι οίκος Θεού· και εκ πάντων όσα μοι δώσης, το δέκατον θέλω προσφέρει εις σε.
And this stone, which I have set up for a pillar, shall be to me a house of God; and of all whatsoever thou shalt give me, I will tithe a tenth for thee.
