Jeremiás 19

1 Így szól az Örökkévaló: Menj és végy cserépkancsót a fazekastól, és néhánnyal a nép vénei közül és a papok vénei közül

Thus said YHWH: “Go, and you have acquired a potter’s earthen vessel, and from [the] elderly of the people, and from [the] elderly of the priests,

2 menj ki Ben-Hinnóm völgyébe, mely a Charszit-kapu bejáratánál van és hirdesd ott a szavakat, melyeket szólni fogok hozzád.

and you have gone forth to the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, that [is] at the opening of the gate of the pottery, and have proclaimed there the words that I speak to you,

3 És mondjad: Halljátok az Örökkévaló igéjét, Jehúda királyai és Jeruzsálem lakói. Így szól az Örökkévaló, a seregek ura, Izrael Istene: íme én oly veszedelmet hozok e helyre, hogy bárki hallja megcsendülnek fülei.

and have said, Hear a word of YHWH, you kings of Judah, and inhabitants of Jerusalem!” Thus said YHWH of Hosts, God of Israel: “Behold, I am bringing in evil on this place, at which the ears of everyone who is hearing it tingles,

4 Mivelhogy elhagytak engem és idegenné tették ezt a helyet, füstölögtettek benne más isteneknek, amelyeket nem ismertek, ők és őseik és Jehúda királyai, és megtöltötték ezt a helyet ártatlanok vérével.

because that they have forsaken Me, and make known this place, and make incense in it to other gods, that they did not know, they and their fathers, and the kings of Judah, and they have filled this place [with] innocent blood,

5 És építették a Báal magaslatait, hogy fiaikat tűzben égessék el, égőáldozatokul a Báalnak, amit nem parancsoltam és nem mondtam és ami nem jutott eszembe.

and have built the high places of Ba‘al to burn their sons with fire, burnt-offerings to Ba‘al, that I did not command, nor spoke of, nor did it come up on My heart.

6 Azért íme napok jönnek, úgymond az Örökkévaló, és nem nevezik többé ezt a helyet Tófetnek és Hinnóm fia völgyének, hanem öldöklés völgyének.

Therefore, behold, days are coming,” a declaration of YHWH, “and this place is no longer called The Tophet and Valley of the Son of Hinnom, but Valley of the Slaughter.

7 Es kiürítem Jehúda és Jeruzsálem tanácsát ezen a helyen és elejtem őket kard által ellenségeik előtt és azok keze által, kik életükre törnek, és hullájukat eledelül adom az ég madarának és a föld vadjának.

And I have made void the counsel of Judah and Jerusalem in this place, and have caused them to fall by the sword before their enemies, and by the hand of those seeking their life, and I have given their carcass for food to the bird of the heavens, and to the beast of the earth,

8 És teszem ezt a várost iszonyattá és pisszegéssé; bárki elmegy mellette, eliszonyodik és pisszeg mind a csapásai miatt.

and I have made this city for a desolation, and for a hissing, everyone passing by it is astonished, and hisses for all its plagues.

9 És megetetem velük fiaik húsát és leányaik húsát és kiki felebarátjának húsát eszi a körülzárásban és a szorongatásban, mellyel szorongatják őket ellenségeik és azok, kik életükre törnek.

And I have caused them to eat the flesh of their sons, and the flesh of their daughters, and they each eat the flesh of his friend, in the siege and in the constriction with which their enemies constrict them, and those seeking their life.”

10 Erre törd el a kancsót azon emberek szeme láttára, kik veled mennek.

“And you have broken the bottle before the eyes of the men who are going with you,

11 És szólj hozzájuk: Így szól az Örökkévaló, a seregek ura: Úgy fogom eltörni ezt a népet és ezt a várost, amint eltörik a fazekas edényét, amely többé helyre nem állítható; és majd Tófetben temetnek, mert nincs hely temetésre.

and have said to them, Thus said YHWH of Hosts: Thus I break this people and this city, as one breaks the potter’s vessel, that is not able to be repaired again, and in Tophet they bury—without place to bury;

12 Így fogok tenni e hellyel, úgymond az Örökkévaló, és lakóival, hogy olyanná teszem ezt a várost, mint Tófet.

so I do to this place—a declaration of YHWH—and to its inhabitants, so as to make this city as Tophet;

13 Olyanok lesznek ugyanis Jeruzsálem házai és Jehúda királyainak házai, mint Tófet helye, tisztátalanok, mindama házak, amelyeknek tetőin füstölögtettek az ég egész seregének és öntőáldozatokat öntöttek más isteneknek.

and the houses of Jerusalem, and the houses of the kings of Judah, have been as the place of Tophet—defiled, even all the houses on whose roofs they have made incense to all the host of the heavens, so as to pour out oblations to other gods.”

14 És jött Jirmejáhú Tófetből, ahová őt az Örökkévaló küldötte volt, hogy prófétáljon, és megállt az Örökkévaló házának udvarában és szólt az egész néphez:

And Jeremiah comes in from Tophet, to where YHWH had sent him to prophesy, and he stands in the court of the house of YHWH, and he says to all the people:

15 Így szól az Örökkévaló, a seregek ura, Izrael Istene: Íme én elhozom a városra és mind a városaira azt az egész veszedelmet, melyet kimondtam ellene, mert megkeményítették nyakukat, nem hallgatva szavamra.

“Thus said YHWH of Hosts, God of Israel: Behold, I am bringing to this city, and on all its cities, all the calamity that I have spoken against it, for they have hardened their neck to not hear My words!”
