1 Ket rimmuar dagiti amin a tattao ti Israel a kas maysa a tao, manipud Dan agingga iti Beerseba, agraman pay ti daga ti Galaad, ket naguummongda iti sangoanan ni Yahweh idiay Mizpa.
Then all the children of Israel went out and gathered together as one man from Dan to Bersabee, with the land of Galaad, to the Lord in Maspha:
2 Dagiti mangidadaulo kadagiti amin a tattao, kadagiti amin a tribu ti Israel, napanda iti lugarda iti taripnong dagiti tattao ti Dios—400, 000 a lallaki a magmagna, a nakasagana a makigubat babaen iti kampilan.
And all the chiefs of the people, and all the tribes of Israel met together in the assembly of the people of God, four hundred thousand footmen fit for war.
3 Ita, nadamag dagiti tattao ti Benjamin a simmang-at dagiti tattao ti Israel idiay Mizpa. Kinuna dagiti tattao ti Israel, “Ibagayo kadakami no kasano a napasamak daytoy a nadangkes a banag?”
(Nor were the children of Benjamin ignorant that the children of Israel were come up to Maspha.) And the Levite the husband of the woman that was killed, being asked, how so great a wickedness had been committed,
4 Insungbat ti Levita nga asawa ti babai a napapatay, “Nakagtengak idiay Gabaa iti masakupan iti Benjamin, siak ken ti kakabkabbalayko, tapno agpalabas iti rabii.
Answered: I came into Gabaa of Benjamin with my wife, and there I lodged:
5 Kabayatan iti rabii, rinautdak dagiti kakabagian ti Gabaa, linawlawda ti balay ket gandatdak a papatayen. Ginammatan ken kinaiddada ti kakabkabbalayko, ket natay isuna.
And behold the men of that city in the night beset the house wherein I was, intending to kill me, and abused my wife with an incredible fury of lust, so that at last she died.
6 Innalak ti kakabkabbalayko ket rinangrangkayko ti bagina, ket impatulodko dagitoy iti tunggal rehion iti tawid ti Israel, gapu ta nakaaramidda iti kasta a kinadangkes ken kinapalalo iti Israel.
And I took her and cut her in pieces, and sent the, parts into all the borders of your possession: because there never was so heinous a crime, and so great an abomination committed in Israel.
7 Ita, aminkayo nga Israelita, agsaokayo ket itedyo ti pammagbaga ken pangngeddengyo iti daytoy!”
You are all here, O children of Israel, determine what you ought to do.
8 Timmakder dagiti amin a tattao a kas maysa a tao, ket kinunada, “Awan kadatayo ti mapan iti toldana ken awan kadatayo ti agsubli iti balayna!
And all the people standing, answered as by the voice of one man: We will not return to our tents, neither shall any one of us go into his own house:
9 Ngem ita, daytoy ti masapul nga aramidentayo iti Gabaa: rautentayo daytoy segun iti iturturong kadatayo ti binnunotan.
But this we will do in common against Gabaa:
10 Mangalatayo iti sangapulo a lallaki manipud iti sangagasut kadagiti amin a tribu ti Israel, ken sangagasut manipud iti sangaribu, ken sangaribu manipud iti sangapulo a ribu, tapno mangala kadagiti taraon para kadagitoy a tattao, tapno inton makadanonda idiay Gabaa idiay Benjamin, dusaenda ida gapu iti kinadangkes nga inaramidda iti Israel.”
We will take ten men of a hundred out of all the tribes of Israel, and a hundred out of a thousand, and a thousand out of ten thousand, to bring victuals for the army, that we might fight against Gabaa of Benjamin, and render to it for its wickedness, what it deserveth.
11 Naguummong ngarud dagiti amin a soldado ti Israel a maibusor iti siudad, nagmaymaysada nga addaan iti maymaysa a panggep.
And all Israel were gathered together against the city, as one man, with one mind, and one counsel:
12 Nangibaon dagiti tribu ti Israel kadagiti lallaki a mapan iti entero a tribu ti Benjamin, a kinunada, “Ania daytoy a kinadangkes a napasamak kadakayo?
And they sent messengers to all the tribe of Benjamin to say to them: Why hath so great an abomination been found among you?
13 Iyawatyo ngarud kadakami dagidiay a nadangkes a lallaki ti Gabaa, tapno mapapataymi ida, ken tapno naan-anay a maikkatmi daytoy a kinadakes iti Israel.” Ngem saan a dimngeg dagiti Benjaminita iti timek dagiti kakabsatda a tattao ti Israel.
Deliver up the men of Gabaa, that have committed this heinous crime, that they may die, and the evil may be taken away out of Israel. But they would not hearken to the proposition of their brethren the children of Israel:
14 Ket nagmaymaysa a rimmuar dagiti tattao ti Benjamin kadagiti siudad ket nagturongda idiay Gabaa tapno agsaganada a makigubat kadagiti tattao ti Israel.
But out of all the cities which were of their lot, they gathered themselves together into Gabaa, to aid them, and to fight against the whole people of Israel.
15 Inummong dagiti tattao ti Benjamin dagiti 26, 000 a nasanay a soldado a makigubat babaen iti kampilan manipud kadagiti siudadda; mainayon pay iti dayta a bilang ti pito gasut kadagiti napili a tattaoda manipud kadagiti agnanaed idiay Gabaa.
And there were found of Benjamin five and twenty thousand men that drew the sword, besides the inhabitants of Gabaa,
16 Karaman kadagitoy amin a soldado ti pito gasut a napili a lallaki a pasig a kattigid; tunggal maysa kadakuada ket kabaelanna a pallatibongan ti maysa a buok ket saan nga agmintis.
Who were seven hundred most valiant men, fighting with the left hand as well as with the right: and slinging stones so sure that they could hit even a hair, and not miss by the stone’s going on either side.
17 Dagiti soldado ti Israel, saan a naibilang dagiti nagapu iti Benjamin, ket 400, 000 a lallaki a nasanay a makigubat babaen iti kampilan. Amin dagitoy ket lallaki a mannakigubat.
Of the men of Israel also, beside the children of Benjamin, were found four hundred thousand that drew swords, and were prepared to fight.
18 Nagrubbuat dagiti tattao ti Israel, simmang-atda idiay Betel, ket dimmawatda iti pammagbaga manipud iti Dios. Sinaludsodda, “Siasino ti umuna a mangraut kadagiti tattao ti Benjamin para kadakami?” Kinuna ni Yahweh, “Ti Juda ti umuna a rumaut.”
And they arose and came to the house of God, that is, to Silo: and they consulted God, and said: Who shall be in our army the first to go to the battle against the children of Benjamin? And the Lord answered them: Let Juda be your leader.
19 Bimmangon dagiti tattao ti Israel iti agsapa ket sinangoda ti Gabaa ken nagsaganada a makigubat.
And forthwith the children of Israel rising in the morning, camped by Gabaa:
20 Rimmuar dagiti soldado ti Israel tapno gubatenda ti Benjamin. Nagpuestoda idiay Gabaa a makigubat kadakuada.
And going out from thence to fight against Benjamin, began to assault the city.
21 Rimmuar dagiti soldado ti Benjamin idiay Gabaa, ket pinatayda ti 22, 000 a lallaki iti armada ti Israel iti dayta nga aldaw.
And the children of Benjamin coming out of Gabaa, slew of the children of Israel that day two and twenty thousand men.
22 Ngem pinapigsa dagiti soldado ti Israel dagiti bagbagida, ket nagpuestoda manen iti isu met laeng a lugar a nagpuestoanda iti umuna nga aldaw.
Again Israel trusting in their strength and their number, set their army in array in the same place, where they had fought before:
23 Ket simmang-at dagiti tattao ti Israel ket nagmalmalem a nagdungdung-awda iti sangoanan ni Yahweh. Ket dimmawatda iti panangidalan manipud kenni Yahweh, “Rumbeng kadi nga umasidegkami manen a makigubat kadagiti kakabsatmi, dagiti tattao ti Benjamin?” Ket kinuna ni Yahweh, “Rautenyo ida!”
Yet so that they first went up and wept before the Lord until night: and consulted him, and said: Shall I go out any more to fight against the children of Benjamin my brethren, or not? And he answered them: Go up against them, and join battle.
24 Napan ngarud nakiranget dagiti soldado ti Israel kadagiti soldado ti Benjamin iti maikadua nga aldaw.
And when the children of Israel went out the next day to fight against the children of Benjamin,
25 Iti maikadua nga aldaw, rimmuar manipud Gabaa ti Benjamin a maibusor kadakuada ket napapatayda ti 18, 000 a lallaki manipud kadagiti soldado ti Israel. Aminda ket lallaki a nasanay a makigubat babaen iti kampilan.
The children of Benjamin sallied forth out of the gates of Gabaa: and meeting them made so great a slaughter of them, as to kill eighteen thousand men that drew the sword.
26 Ket simmang-at idiay Betel dagiti amin a soldado ti Israel, ken dagiti amin a tattao ket nagsangitda, ken nagtugawda sadiay iti sangoanan ni Yahweh ken nagayunarda iti dayta nga aldaw agingga iti rabii, ken nagidatonda kadagiti daton a mapuoran ken kadagiti daton a pakikappia iti sangoanan ni Yahweh.
Wherefore all the children of Israel came to the house of God, and sat and wept before the Lord: and they fasted that day till the evening, and offered to him holocausts, and victims of peace offerings,
27 Nagsaludsod dagiti tattao ti Israel kenni Yahweh, —ta adda sadiay ti lakasa ti tulag ti Dios kadagidiay nga aldaw,
And inquired of him concerning their state. At that time the ark of the covenant of the Lord was there,
28 ket agserserbi ni Finees a putot a lalaki ni Eleazar a putot a lalaki ni Aaron iti sangoanan ti lakasa ti tulag kadagidiay nga aldaw—”Rumbeng kadi a rummuarkami a mapan makigubat iti maminsan pay kadagiti tattao ti Benjamin a kakabsatmi, wenno isardengmin?” Kinuna ni Yahweh, “Rumautkayo, ta inton bigat tulongankayo a mangparmek kadakuada.”
And Phinees the son of Eleazar the son of Aaron was over the house. So they consulted the Lord and said: Shall we go out any more to fight against the children of Benjamin our brethren, or shall we cease? And the Lord said to them: Go up, for tomorrow I will deliver them into your hands.
29 Nangipuesto ngarud ti Israel kadagiti lallaki kadagiti nalimed a luglugar iti aglawlaw ti Gabaa.
And the children of Israel set ambushes round about the city of Gabaa:
30 Nakiranget dagiti soldado ti Israel kadagiti soldado ti Benjamin iti maikatlo nga aldaw, ket nagpuestoda a maibusor iti Gabaa a kas iti inaramidda iti napalabas.
And they drew up their army against Benjamin the third time, as they had done the first and second.
31 Napan nakiranget dagiti tattao ti Benjamin kadagiti tattao Israel, ket naiyadayoda iti siudad. Rinugianda a papatayen iti sumagmamano kadagiti tattao ti Israel. Adda natay nga agarup tallu pulo a lallaki ti Israel kadagiti talon ken kadagiti dalan—maysa kadagiti dalan ket sumang-at idiay Betel, ken ti maysa ket agturong idiay Gabaa.
And the children of Benjamin boldly issued out of the city, and seeing their enemies flee, pursued them a long way, so as to wound and kill some of them, as they had done the first and second day, whilst they fled by two highways, whereof one goeth up to Bethel, and the other to Gabaa, and they slew about thirty men:
32 Ket kinuna dagiti tattao ti Benjamin, “Naabakdan ket itartarayandatayon, a kas idi damo.” Ngem kinuna dagiti soldado ti Israel, “Agsublitayo ket iyadayotayo ida manipud iti siudad agingga kadagiti kalsada.”
For they thought to cut them off, as they did before. But they artfully feigning a flight, designed to draw them away from the city, and by their seeming to flee to bring them to the highways aforesaid.
33 Rimmuar dagiti amin a soldado ti Israel kadagiti lugarda ket nagpuestoda a makigubat idiay Baal Tamar. Kalpasanna, rimmuar dagiti soldado ti Israel nga aglemlemmeng kadagiti nalimed a luglugar a nagpuestoanda idiay Maare Gabaa.
Then all the children of Israel rising up out of the places where they were, set their army in battle array, in the place which is called Baalthamar. The ambushes also which were about the city, began by little and little to come forth,
34 Dimteng a maibusor iti Gabaa ti 10, 000 a napili a lallaki manipud iti entero nga Israel, nakaro ti panagririnnangetda, ngem saan nga ammo dagiti Benjaminita nga asidegen ti didigra kadakuada.
And to march from the west side of the city. And other ten thousand men chosen out of all Israel attacked the inhabitants of the city. And the battle grew hot against the children of Benjamin: and they understood not that present death threatened them on every side.
35 Pinarmek ni Yahweh ti Benjamin iti sangoanan ti Israel. Iti dayta nga aldaw, napapatay dagiti soldado ti Israel ti 25, 100 a lallaki ti Benjamin. Amin dagitoy a napapatay ket dagiti nasanay a makigubat babaen iti kampilan.
And the Lord defeated them before the children of Israel, and they slew of them in that day five and twenty thousand, and one hundred, all fighting men and that drew the sword.
36 Ket nakita dagiti soldado ti Benjamin a naparmekdan. Inggagara nga intarayan dagiti lallaki ti Israel ti Benjamin gapu ta mangnamnamada kadagiti lallaki a pinagpuestoda kadagiti nalimed a lugar iti ruar ti Gabaa.
But the children of Benjamin when they saw themselves to be too weak, began to flee. Which the children of Israel seeing, gave them place to flee, that they might come to the ambushes that were prepared, which they had set near the city.
37 Ket nagdardaras a timmakder dagiti lallaki nga aglemlemmeng ken inalistoanda ti napan idiay Gabaa, ken pinatayda ti tunggal maysa nga agnanaed iti siudad babaen kadagiti kampilanda.
And they that were in ambush arose on a sudden out of their coverts, and whilst Benjamin turned their backs to the slayers, went into the city, and smote it with the edge of the sword.
38 Ita, ti nagtutulagan a pagilasinan iti nagbaetan dagiti soldado ti Israel ken dagiti lallaki nga aglemlemmeng iti nalimed ket addanto ti napuskol nga asuk nga agpangato manipud iti siudad—
Now the children of Israel had given a sign to them, whom they had laid in ambushes, that after they had taken the city, they should make a fire: that by the smoke rising on high, they might shew that the city was taken.
39 —ket umadayonto dagiti soldado ti Israel iti paggugubatan. Ita, rinugian ti Benjamin ti nangraut ket napapatayda ti agarup tallopulo a lallaki ti Israel, ket kinunada, “Awan duadua a naparmekda iti sangoanantayo, a kas iti umuna a gubat.”
And when the children of Israel saw this in the battle (for the children of Benjamin thought they fled and pursued them vigorously, killing thirty men of their army)
40 Ngem idi mangrugin nga agpangato ti asuk manipud iti siudad, timalliaw dagiti Benjaminita ket nakitada ti asuk nga agpangpangato manipud iti entero a siudad.
And perceived as it were a pillar of smoke rise up from the city; and Benjamin looking back, saw that the city was taken, and that the flames ascended on high:
41 Ket sinublian ida dagiti soldado ti Israel. Nagbuteng dagiti lallaki ti Benjamin ta nakitada a dimtengen ti didigra kadakuada.
They that before had made as if they fled, turning their faces stood bravely against them; which the children of Benjamin seeing, turned their backs,
42 Isu nga intarayanda dagiti soldado ti Israel, naglibasda iti dalan a mapan idiay let-ang. Ngem kinamat ida ti panagraranget. Rimmuar dagiti soldado ti Israel kadagiti siudad ket pinatayda ida iti nagtakderanda.
And began to go towards the way of the desert, the enemy pursuing them thither also. And they that fired the city came also out to meet them.
43 Pinalawlawanda dagiti Benjaminita ken kinamatda ida; ket binaddebaddekanda ida idiay Noha, ket pinatayda amin ida iti dalan agingga iti daya a paset ti Gabaa.
And so it was, that they were slain on both sides by the enemies, and there was no rest of their men dying. They fell and were beaten down on the east side of the city Gabaa.
44 Manipud iti tribu ti Benjamin, 18, 000 a soldado ti napapatay, aminda ket lallaki a mabigbigbig iti pannakigubat.
And they that were slain in the same place were eighteen thousand men, all most valiant soldiers.
45 Naglikkoda ket naglibasda a nagturong iti let-ang iti bato ti Rimmon. Pinatay dagiti Israelita ti lima ribu pay kadakuada kadagiti kalsada. Nagtultuloy a kinamkamatda ida, nainget a sinursurotda ida agingga iti dalan nga agpa-Gidom, ket napapatayda pay sadiay ti dua a ribu.
And when they that remained of Benjamin saw this, they fled into the wilderness and made towards the rock that is called Remmon. In that flight, also as they were straggling and going different ways, they slew of them five thousand men. And as they went farther, they still pursued them, and slew also other two thousand.
46 25, 000 amin ti soldado ti Benjamin a napasag iti dayta nga aldaw— lallaki a nasanay a makigubat babaen iti kampilan; aminda ket mabigbigbig a mannakigubat.
And so it came to pass, that all that were slain of Benjamin in divers places, were five and twenty thousand fighting men, most valiant for war.
47 Ngem 600 a lallaki ti naglikko ken naglibas a napan idiay let-ang, nagturongda iti bato ti Rimmon. Ket nagtalinaedda iti bato ti Rimmon iti uppat a bulan.
And there remained of all the number of Benjamin only six hundred men that were able to escape, and flee to the wilderness: and they abode in the rock Remmon four months.
48 Sinublianan dagiti soldado ti Israel dagiti tattao ti Benjamin ket rinaut ken pinatayda ida—ti entero a siudad, dagiti taraken, ken amin a banag a nasarakanda. Ken pinuoranda ti tunggal ili a malabsanda.
But the children of Israel returning, put all the remains of the city to the sword, both men and beasts, and all the cities and villages of Benjamin were consumed with devouring flames.
