Giobbe 8
1 Allora prese a dire Bildad il Suchita:
Then Bildad the Shuhite answered,
2 Fino a quando dirai queste cose e vento impetuoso saranno le parole della tua bocca?
"How long will you speak these things? Shall the words of your mouth be a mighty wind?
3 Può forse Dio deviare il diritto o l'Onnipotente sovvertire la giustizia?
Does God pervert justice? Or does Shaddai pervert righteousness?
4 Se i tuoi figli hanno peccato contro di lui, li ha messi in balìa della loro iniquità.
If your children have sinned against him, He has delivered them into the hand of their disobedience.
5 Se tu cercherai Dio e implorerai l'Onnipotente,
If you want to seek God diligently, make your petition to Shaddai.
6 se puro e integro tu sei, fin d'ora veglierà su di te e ristabilirà la dimora della tua giustizia;
If you were pure and upright, surely now he would awaken for you, and make the habitation of your righteousness prosperous.
7 piccola cosa sarà la tua condizione di prima, di fronte alla grandezza che avrà la futura.
Though your beginning was small, yet your latter end would greatly increase.
8 Chiedilo infatti alle generazioni passate, poni mente all'esperienza dei loro padri,
"Please inquire of past generations. Find out about the learning of their fathers.
9 perché noi siamo di ieri e nulla sappiamo, come un'ombra sono i nostri giorni sulla terra.
(For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, because our days on earth are a shadow.)
10 Essi forse non ti istruiranno e ti parleranno traendo le parole dal cuore?
Shall they not teach you, tell you, and utter words out of their heart?
11 Cresce forse il papiro fuori della palude e si sviluppa forse il giunco senz'acqua?
"Can the papyrus grow up without mire? Can the rushes grow without water?
12 E' ancora verde, non buono per tagliarlo, e inaridisce prima d'ogn'altra erba.
While it is yet in its greenness, not cut down, it withers before any other reed.
13 Tale il destino di chi dimentica Dio, così svanisce la speranza dell'empio;
So are the paths of all who forget God. The hope of the godless man shall perish,
14 la sua fiducia è come un filo e una tela di ragno è la sua sicurezza:
Whose confidence shall break apart, Whose trust is a spider's web.
15 si appoggi alla sua casa, essa non resiste, vi si aggrappi, ma essa non regge.
He shall lean on his house, but it shall not stand. He shall cling to it, but it shall not endure.
16 Rigoglioso sia pure in faccia al sole e sopra il giardino si spandano i suoi rami,
He is green before the sun. His shoots go forth over his garden.
17 sul terreno sassoso s'intreccino le sue radici, tra le pietre attinga la vita.
His roots are wrapped around the rock pile. He sees the place of stones.
18 Se lo si toglie dal suo luogo, questo lo rinnega: «Non t'ho mai visto!».
If he is destroyed from his place, then it shall deny him, saying, 'I have not seen you.'
19 Ecco la gioia del suo destino e dalla terra altri rispuntano.
Look, this is the joy of his way: out of the earth, others shall spring.
20 Dunque, Dio non rigetta l'uomo integro, e non sostiene la mano dei malfattori.
"Look, God will not cast away a blameless man, neither will he uphold the evildoers.
21 Colmerà di nuovo la tua bocca di sorriso e le tue labbra di gioia.
He will still fill your mouth with laughter, your lips with shouting.
22 I tuoi nemici saran coperti di vergogna e la tenda degli empi più non sarà.
Those who hate you shall be clothed with shame. The tent of the wicked shall be no more."
