Giosué 2

1 In seguito Giosuè, figlio di Nun, di nascosto inviò da Sittim due spie, ingiungendo: «Andate, osservate il territorio e Gerico». Essi andarono ed entrarono in casa di una donna, una prostituta chiamata Raab, dove passarono la notte.

And he sent Joshua [the] son of Nun from Shittim two men spies secretly saying go see the land and Jericho and they went and they went [the] house of a woman a prostitute and name her [was] Rahab and they lay down there.

2 Ma fu riferito al re di Gerico: «Ecco alcuni degli Israeliti sono venuti qui questa notte per esplorare il paese».

And it was told to [the] king of Jericho saying here! men they have come hither this night from [the] people of Israel to spy out the land.

3 Allora il re di Gerico mandò a dire a Raab: «Fà uscire gli uomini che sono venuti da te e sono entrati in casa tua, perché sono venuti per esplorare tutto il paese».

And he sent [the] king of Jericho to Rahab saying bring out the men who came to you who they came to house your for to spy out all the land they have come.

4 Allora la donna prese i due uomini e, dopo averli nascosti, rispose: «Sì, sono venuti da me quegli uomini, ma non sapevo di dove fossero.

And she took the woman [the] two the men and she hid him and she said - right they came to me the men and not I knew from where [were] they.

5 Ma quando stava per chiudersi la porta della città al cader della notte, essi uscirono e non so dove siano andati. Inseguiteli subito e li raggiungerete».

And it was the gate [about] to shut at darkness and the men they went out not I know where? did they go the men pursue quickly after them for you will overtake them.

6 Essa invece li aveva fatti salire sulla terrazza e li aveva nascosti fra gli steli di lino che vi aveva accatastato.

And she she had taken up them the roof towards and she had hidden them among [the] flax of the tree that had been arranged by her on the roof.

7 Gli uomini li inseguirono sulla strada del Giordano verso i guadi e si chiuse la porta, dopo che furono usciti gli inseguitori.

And the men they pursued after them [the] road of the Jordan to the fords and the gate people closed after just when they had gone out the pursuers after them.

8 Quelli non si erano ancora coricati quando la donna salì da loro sulla terrazza

And they not yet they had lain down! and she she went up to them on the roof.

9 e disse loro: «So che il Signore vi ha assegnato il paese, che il terrore da voi gettato si è abbattuto su di noi e che tutti gli abitanti della regione sono sopraffatti dallo spavento davanti a voi,

And she said to the men I know that he has given Yahweh to you the land and that it has fallen dread your on us and that they have melted away all [the] inhabitants of the land because of you.

10 perché abbiamo sentito come il Signore ha prosciugato le acque del Mare Rosso davanti a voi, alla vostra uscita dall'Egitto e come avete trattato i due re Amorrei, che erano oltre il Giordano, Sicon ed Og, da voi votati allo sterminio.

For we have heard this: he dried up Yahweh [the] waters of [the] sea of reed[s] from before you when came out you from Egypt and [that] which you did to [the] two [the] kings of the Amorite[s] who [was] on [the] other side of the Jordan to Sihon and to Og whom you totally destroyed them.

11 Lo si è saputo e il nostro cuore è venuto meno e nessuno ardisce di fiatare dinanzi a voi, perché il Signore vostro Dio è Dio lassù in cielo e quaggiù sulla terra.

And we heard and it melted heart our and not it arose again spirit in anyone because of you for Yahweh God your he [is] God in the heavens above and on the earth beneath.

12 Ora giuratemi per il Signore che, come io ho usato benevolenza, anche voi userete benevolenza alla casa di mio padre; datemi dunque un segno certo

And therefore swear please to me by Yahweh for I have done with you loyalty and you will do also you with [the] household of father my loyalty and you will give to me a sign of faithfulness.

13 che lascerete vivi mio padre, mia madre, i miei fratelli, le mie sorelle e quanto loro appartiene e risparmierete le nostre vite dalla morte».

And you will let live father my and mother my and brothers my and (sisters my *QK) and all who [belong] to them and you will deliver lives our from death.

14 Gli uomini le dissero: «A morte le nostre vite al posto vostro, purché non riveliate questo nostro affare; quando poi il Signore ci darà il paese, ti tratteremo con benevolenza e lealtà».

And they said to her the men life our for you to die if not you will tell business our this and it will be when gives Yahweh to us the land and we will do with you loyalty and faithfulness.

15 Allora essa li fece scendere con una corda dalla finestra, perché la sua casa era addossata al muro di cinta; infatti sulle mura aveva l'abitazione.

And she let down them with rope through the window for house her [was] in [the] wall of the city wall and in the city wall she [was] dwelling.

16 Disse loro: «Andate verso la montagna, perché non si imbattano in voi i vostri inseguitori e là rimarrete nascosti tre giorni fino al loro ritorno; poi andrete per la vostra strada».

And she said to them the hill country towards go lest they should meet you the pursuers and you will hide yourselves there three days until return the pursuers and after you will go to way your.

17 Le risposero allora gli uomini: «Saremo sciolti da questo giuramento, che ci hai fatto fare, a queste condizioni:

And they said to her the men [will be] free we from oath your this which you made swear us.

18 quando noi entreremo nel paese, legherai questa cordicella di filo scarlatto alla finestra, per la quale ci hai fatto scendere e radunerai presso di te in casa tuo padre, tua madre, i tuoi fratelli e tutta la famiglia di tuo padre.

Here! we [are] about to come in the land [the] cord of [the] thread of the scarlet this you will bind in the window which you let down us in it and father your and mother your and brothers your and all [the] household of father your you will gather to you the house towards.

19 Chiunque allora uscirà dalla porta di casa tua, il suo sangue ricadrà sulla sua testa e noi non ne avremo colpa; chiunque invece sarà con te in casa, il suo sangue ricada sulla nostra testa, se gli si metterà addosso una mano.

And it will be every [one] who he will go out from [the] doors of house your - the outside towards blood his [will be] on own head his and we [will be] free and every [one] who he will be with you in the house blood his [will be] on head our if a hand it will be on him.

20 Ma se tu rivelerai questo nostro affare, noi saremo liberi da ciò che ci hai fatto giurare».

And if you will tell business our this and we will be free from oath your which you made swear us.

21 Essa allora rispose: «Sia così secondo le vostre parole». Poi li congedò e quelli se ne andarono. Essa legò la cordicella scarlatta alla finestra.

And she said according to words your [be] so it and she sent off them and they went and she bound [the] cord of the scarlet in the window.

22 Se ne andarono dunque e giunsero alla montagna dove rimasero tre giorni, finché non furono tornati gli inseguitori. Gli inseguitori li avevano cercati in ogni direzione senza trovarli.

And they went and they came the hill country towards and they remained there three days until they returned the pursuers and they searched the pursuers in all the way and not they found [them].

23 I due uomini allora tornarono sui loro passi, scesero dalla montagna, passarono il Giordano e vennero da Giosuè, figlio di Nun, e gli raccontarono quanto era loro accaduto.

And they returned [the] two the men and they went down from the hill country and they passed over and they came to Joshua [the] son of Nun and they recounted to him all the [things that] had found with them.

24 Dissero a Giosuè: «Dio ha messo nelle nostre mani tutto il paese e tutti gli abitanti del paese sono gia disfatti dinanzi a noi».

And they said to Joshua that he has given Yahweh in hand our all the land and also they have melted away all [the] inhabitants of the land because of us.
