1 Samuele 29
1 OR i Filistei adunarono tutti i lor campi in Afec; e gl'Israeliti erano accampati presso alla fonte ch'[è] in Izreel.
And the Philistines gather all their armies to Aphec, and Israel encamped in Aendor, which is in Jezrael.
2 E i principati de' Filistei passarono a cento a cento, e a mille a mille; e Davide, con la sua gente, passò nella retroguardia con Achis.
And the lords of the Philistines went on by hundreds and thousands, and David and his men went on in the rear with Anchus.
3 E i capitani de' Filistei dissero: Che [fanno qui] questi Ebrei? Ed Achis disse a' capitani de' Filistei: Non [è] costui Davide, servitore di Saulle re d'Israele, il quale è stato meco già un anno e più; ed in cui non ho trovato nulla, dal giorno ch'egli si è rivoltato [da parte mia] fino ad oggi?
And the lords of the Philistines said, Who [are] these that pass by? And Anchus said to the captains of the Philistines, [Is] not this David the servant of Saul king of Israel? He has been with us some time, even this second year, and I have not found any fault in him from the day that he attached himself to me even until this day.
4 Ma i capitani de' Filistei si adirarono contro a lui, e gli dissero: Rimanda quest'uomo, e ritorni al luogo suo, ove tu l'hai costituito, e non iscenda con noi alla battaglia; che talora non si rivolti contro a noi nella battaglia; perciocchè, con che potrebbe costui racquistarsi la grazia del suo signore? non [sarebbe egli] con le teste di questi uomini?
And the captains of the Philistines were displeased at him, and they say to him, Send the man away, and let him return to his place, where thou didst set him; and let him not come with us to the war, and let him not be a traitor in the camp: and wherewith will he be reconciled to his master? Will it not be with the heads of those men?
5 Non [è] costui quel Davide, del quale si cantava nelle danze, dicendo: Saulle ne ha percossi i suoi mille, E Davide i suoi diecimila?
[Is] not this David whom they celebrated in dances, saying, Saul has smitten his thousands, and David his ten thousands?
6 Allora Achis chiamò Davide, e gli disse: [Come] il Signore vive, tu [sei uomo] diritto, e il tuo andare e venire meco nel campo mi è piaciuto; perciocchè io non ho trovato in te alcun male, dal dì che tu venisti a me fino ad oggi; ma tu non piaci a' principi.
And Anchus called David, and said to him, [As] the Lord lives, thou [art] right and approved in my eyes, and [so is] thy going out and thy coming in with me in the army, and I have not found [any] evil to charge against thee from the day that thou camest to me until this day: but thou art not approved in the eyes of the lords.
7 Ora dunque, ritornatene, e vattene in pace, e non fare una cosa che dispiacerebbe a' principi de' Filistei.
Now then return and go in peace, thus thou shalt not do evil in the sight of the lords of the Philistines.
8 E Davide disse ad Achis: Ma pure che ho fatto? e che hai trovato nel tuo servitore, dal dì che io sono stato al tuo servigio infino ad oggi, che io non debba andare a combattere contro a' nemici del re, mio signore?
And David said to Anchus, What have I done to thee? and what hast thou found in thy servant from the [first] day that I was before thee even until this day, that I should not come and war against the enemies of the lord my king?
9 Ed Achis rispose, e disse a Davide: Io [il] so; conciossiachè tu mi piaccia, come un angelo di Dio; ma i capitani de' Filistei hanno detto: Non salga costui con noi alla battaglia.
And Anchus answered David, I know that thou [art] good in my eyes, but the lords of the Philistines say, He shall not come with us to the war.
10 Ora dunque, levati domattina a buon'ora, insieme co' servitori del tuo signore che son venuti teco; ed in su lo schiarir del dì, levatevi, e andatevene.
Now then rise up early in the morning, thou and the servants of thy lord that are come with thee, and go to the place where I appointed you, and entertain no evil thought in thy heart, for thou [art] good in my sight: and rise early for your journey when it is light, and depart.
11 Davide adunque si levò la mattina seguente a buon'ora, insieme con la sua gente, per andarsene, e per ritornar nel paese de' Filistei. E i Filistei salirono in Izreel.
So David arose early, he and his men, to depart and guard the land of the Philistines: and the Philistines went up to Jezrael to battle.
