Isaia 41
1 ISOLE, fatemi silenzio; e rinforzinsi le nazioni; accostinsi, [ed] allora parlino; veniamo insieme a giudicio.
Keep silent towards Me, O isles, And the peoples pass on [to] power, They come nigh, then they speak, 'Together — to judgment we draw near.'
2 Chi ha eccitata la giustizia dall'Oriente? [chi] l'ha chiamata, perchè lo seguiti a passo a passo? [chi] mette davanti a sè le genti, e signoreggia i re, [e] rende le spade loro come polvere, [e] i loro archi come stoppia agitata?
Who stirred up from the east a righteous one? He calleth him to His foot, He giveth before him nations, And kings He causeth him to rule, He giveth [them] as dust [to] his sword, As driven stubble [to] his bow.
3 Egli li persegue, [e] passa oltre pacificamente, per una strada, per la quale non è venuto coi suoi piedi.
He pursueth them, he passeth over in safety A path with his feet he entereth not.
4 Chi ha operato, e fatto [questo?] Colui, che fin dal principio chiama le generazoni; io, il Signore, che [sono] il primiero, ed [anche son] con gli ultimi; io son desso.
Who hath wrought and done, Calling the generations from the first? I, Jehovah, the first, and with the last I [am] He.
5 Le isole hanno veduto, ed hanno temuto; le estremità della terra hanno tremato, si sono appressate, e son venute.
Seen have isles and fear, ends of the earth tremble, They have drawn near, yea, they come.
6 Ciascuno aiuta il suo prossimo, e dice al suo fratello: Fa' animo.
Each his neighbour they help, And to his brother he saith, 'Be strong.'
7 Il fabbro conforta l'orafo; colui che tocca [l'opera] col martello [conforta] colui che colpisce su l'incudine; [l'uno] dice: Quest'è buono per esser saldato; [l'altro] ferma [il lavoro] con chiodi, [acciocchè] non si smuova.
And strengthen doth an artisan the refiner, A smoother [with] a hammer, Him who is beating [on] an anvil, Saying, 'For joining it [is] good,' And he strengtheneth it with nails, it is not moved!
8 Ma tu, Israele, mio servitore; [e tu], Giacobbe, che io ho eletto; progenie d'Abrahamo, mio amico
— And thou, O Israel, My servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen, Seed of Abraham, My lover,
9 (conciossiachè io ti abbia preso dalle estremità della terra, e ti abbia chiamato d'infra i maggiori di essa, e ti abbia detto: Tu [sei] mio servitore; io ti ho eletto, e non ti ho riprovato);
Whom I have taken hold of, from the ends of the earth, And from its near places I have called thee, And I say to thee, My servant Thou [art], I have chosen thee, and not rejected thee.
10 non temere, perciocchè io [son] teco; non ismarrirti, perciocchè io [sono] il tuo Dio; io t'ho fortificato, anzi aiutato, anzi sostenuto con la destra della mia giustizia.
Be not afraid, for with thee I [am], Look not around, for I [am] thy God, I have strengthened thee, Yea, I have helped thee, yea, I upheld thee, With the right hand of My righteousness.
11 Ecco, tutti quelli che sono attizzati contro a te saranno svergognati e confusi; i tuoi avversari saranno ridotti a nulla, e periranno.
Lo, all those displeased with thee, They are ashamed and blush, They are as nothing, yea, perish Do the men who strive with thee.
12 Tu cercherai quelli che contendono teco, e non li troverai; quelli che ti fanno guerra saranno ridotti a nulla, e consumati.
Thou seekest them, and findest them not, The men who debate with thee, They are as nothing, yea, as nothing, The men who war with thee.
13 Perciocchè io [sono] il Signore Iddio tuo, che ti tengo per la man destra; che ti dico: Non temere, io ti aiuto.
For I, Jehovah thy God, Am strengthening thy right hand, He who is saying to thee, 'Fear not, I have helped thee.'
14 Non temere, o verme di Giacobbe, uomini d'Israele; io ti aiuto, dice il Signore; e il tuo Redentore [è] il Santo d'Israele.
Fear not, O worm Jacob, ye men of Israel, I helped thee, an affirmation of Jehovah, Even thy redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.
15 Ecco, io ti farò essere come una trebbia, [come] una erpice a denti nuova; tu trebbierai i monti, e [li] triterai; e renderai i colli simili a della pula.
Lo, I have set thee for a new sharp threshing instrument, Possessing teeth, thou threshest mountains, And beatest small, and hills as chaff thou makest.
16 Tu li sventolerai, e il vento li porterà via, e li turbo li dispergerà; ma tu giubilerai nel Signore, tu ti glorierai nel Santo d'Israele.
Thou winnowest them, and a wind lifteth them up, And a whirlwind scattereth them, And thou — thou rejoicest in Jehovah, In the Holy One of Israel dost boast thyself.
17 Quant'è a' poveri e bisognosi, che cercano dell'acque, e non [ne trovano] alcune; la cui lingua spasima di sete; io, il Signore, li esaudirò; [io], l'Iddio d'Israele, non li abbandonerà.
The poor and the needy are seeking water, And there is none, Their tongue with thirst hath failed, I, Jehovah do answer them, The God of Israel — I forsake them not.
18 Io farò sorgere de' fiumi sopra i luoghi eccelsi, e delle fonti in mezzo delle campagne; io ridurrò il deserto in istagna d'acque, e la terra asciutta in rampolli d'acque.
I open on high places rivers, And in midst of valleys fountains, I make a wilderness become a pond of water, And a dry land become springs of water.
19 Io metterò nel deserto il cedro, l'acacia, ed il mirto, e l'ulivo; il metterò nella solitudine l'abete, l'olmo, e il busso insieme.
I give in a wilderness the cedar, Shittah, and myrtle, and oil-tree, I set in a desert the fir-pine and box-wood together.
20 Acciocchè tutti insieme veggano, e conoscano, e considerino, ed intendano, che la mano del Signore ha fatto questo, e che il Santo d'Israele l'ha creato.
So that they see, and know, And regard, and act wisely together, For the hand of Jehovah hath done this, And the Holy One of Israel hath prepared it.
21 Producete la vostra lite, dirà il Signore; recate le ragioni, delle quali voi vi fortificate, dirà il Re di Giacobbe.
Bring near your cause, saith Jehovah, Bring nigh your mighty ones, saith the king of Jacob.
22 Facciano pure accostare [i lor dii], e ci annunzino essi le cose che avverranno; annunziate quali saranno le primiere, e noi [vi] porrem mente, e conosceremo le cose che seguiranno dopo quelle; ovvero anche, fateci intendere quelle che verranno appresso.
They bring nigh, and declare to us that which doth happen, The first things — what they [are] declare ye, And we set our heart, and know their latter end, Or the coming things cause us to hear.
23 Annunziate le cose che avverranno ne' tempi appresso, e noi conosceremo che [siete] dii; ovvero anche fate qualche bene, o qualche male, e noi lo mireremo con diletto, e lo vedremo tutti insieme.
Declare the things that are coming hereafter, And we know that ye [are] gods, Yea, ye may do good or do evil, And we look around and see [it] together.
24 Ecco, voi [siete] di niente, e l'opera vostra [è] di nulla; [chi] vi elegge [è] abbominazione.
Lo, ye [are] of nothing, and your work of nought, An abomination — it fixeth on you.
25 Io ho suscitato [colui] dall'Aquilone, ed egli verrà; egli prediccherà il mio Nome dal sol levante; egli calpesterà i potentati come fango, ed a guisa che il vasellaio calca l'argilla.
I have stirred up [one] from the north, And he cometh, From the rising of the sun he calleth in My name, And he cometh in [on] prefects as [on] clay, And as a potter treadeth down mire.
26 Chi ha annunziate [queste cose] da principio, e noi [lo] riconosceremo? ed ab antico, e noi [lo] pronunzieremo giusto? Ma certo non [vi è stato] alcuno che [le] abbia dichiarate, nè che [le] abbia pur fatte intendere; ed anche non [vi è] alcuno che ne abbia uditi i vostri ragionamenti.
Who hath declared from the first, and we know? And beforetime, and we say, 'Righteous?' yea, there is none declaring, Yea, there is none proclaiming, Yea, there is none hearing your sayings.
27 Il primiero[verrà] a Sion, [dicendo: ] Ecco, ecco quelle cose; ed io manderò a Gerusalemme un messo di buone novelle.
First to Zion, Behold, behold them, And to Jerusalem one proclaiming tidings I give,
28 Or io ho riguardato, e non [vi è] alcuno; eziandio fra coloro, e non [vi è] alcuno che dia consiglio, il quale, quando io lo domando, dia alcuna risposta.
And I see that there is no man, Yea, of these that there is no counsellor, And I ask them, and they return word:
29 Ecco, essi tutti [son] vanità; le opere loro [son] nulla; le loro statue di getto [son] vento, e cosa vana.
'Lo, all of them [are] vanity, Nought [are] their works, Wind and emptiness their molten images!'
