Salmi 109
1 Salmo di Davide, [dato] al Capo de' Musici O DIO della mia lode, non tacere;
For the end, a Psalm of David. For the end, a Psalm of David. O God, pass not over my praise in silence;
2 Perciocchè la bocca dell'empio e la bocca di frode si sono aperte contro a me; Hanno parlato meco con lingua bugiarda;
for the mouth of the sinner and the mouth of the crafty [man] have been opened against me: they have spoken against me with a crafty tongue.
3 E mi hanno assediato con parole d'odio; E mi hanno fatta guerra senza cagione.
And they have compassed me with words of hatred; and fought against me without a cause.
4 In vece dell'amore che ho loro portato, mi sono stati avversari; Ed io [ho loro renduta] preghiera.
Instead of loving me, they falsely accused me: but I continued to pray.
5 Essi mi hanno renduto male per bene, E odio per lo mio amore.
And they rewarded me evil for good, and hatred for my love.
6 Costituisci il maligno sopra lui; E fa' che Satana gli stia alla destra.
Set thou a sinner against him; and let the devil stand at his right hand.
7 Quando sarà giudicato, esca condannato; E la sua preghiera [gli] torni in peccato.
When he is judged, let him go forth condemned: and let his prayer become sin.
8 Sieno i suoi giorni pochi; Un altro prenda il suo ufficio.
Let his days be few: and let another take his office of overseer.
9 Sieno i suoi figliuoli orfani, E la sua moglie vedova.
Let his children be orphans, and his wife a widow.
10 E vadano i suoi figliuoli del continuo vagando; E mendichino, ed accattino, [uscendo fuor] de' lor casolari.
Let his children wander without a dwelling-place, and beg: let them be cast out of their habitations.
11 L'usuraio tenda la rete a tutto ciò ch'egli ha; E rubino gli strani le sue fatiche.
Let [his] creditor exact all that belongs to him: and let strangers spoil his labours.
12 Non siavi alcuno che stenda la [sua] benignità inverso lui; E non vi sia chi abbia pietà de' suoi orfani.
Let him have no helper; neither let there be any one to have compassion on his fatherless children.
13 Sieno distrutti i suoi discendenti; Sia cancellato il lor nome nella seconda generazione.
Let his children be [given up] to utter destruction: in one generation let his name be blotted out.
14 Sia ricordata l'iniquità de' suoi padri appo il Signore; E il peccato di sua madre non sia cancellato.
Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered before the Lord; and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out.
15 Sieno [que' peccati] del continuo nel cospetto del Signore; E stermini egli d'in su la terra la memoria di essi.
Let them be before the Lord continually; and let their memorial be blotted out from the earth.
16 Perciocchè egli non si è ricordato d'usar benignità, Ed ha perseguitato l'uomo povero, ed afflitto, E tribolato di cuore, per uccider[lo].
Because he remembered not to shew mercy, but persecuted the needy and poor man, and [that] to slay him that was pricked in the heart.
17 Poichè egli ha amata la maledizione, vengagli; E [poichè] non si è compiaciuto nella benedizione, allontanisi ella da lui.
He loved cursing also, and it shall come upon him; and he took not pleasure in blessing, so it shall be removed far from him.
18 E sia vestito di maledizione, come del suo manto; Ed entri quella come acqua nelle sue interiora, E come olio nelle sue ossa.
Yea, he put on cursing as a garment, and it is come as water into his bowels, and as oil into his bones.
19 Siagli quella a guisa di vestimento, [del quale] egli sia avvolto; Ed a guisa di cintura, della quale sempre sia cinto.
Let it be to him as a garment which he puts on, and as a girdle with which he girds himself continually.
20 [Tal] sia, da parte del Signore, la ricompensa de' miei avversari, E di quelli che parlano male contro all'anima mia.
This is the dealing of the Lord with those who falsely accuse me, and of them that speak evil against my soul.
21 Ma tu, o Signore Iddio, opera inverso me, per amor del tuo Nome; Liberami, perciocchè la tua benignità [è] buona.
But thou, O Lord, Lord, deal [mercifully] with me, for thy name's sake: for thy mercy is good.
22 Perciocchè io sono afflitto, e povero; E il mio cuore è piagato dentro di me.
Deliver me, for I am poor and needy; and my heart is troubled within me.
23 Io me ne vo, come l'ombra quando dichina; Io sono agitato come una locusta.
I am removed as a shadow in its going down: I am tossed up and down like locusts.
24 Le mie ginocchia vacillano per li [miei] digiuni; E la mia carne è dimagrata, e non ha [più] grassezza alcuna.
My knees are weakened through fasting, and my flesh is changed by reason of [the want of] oil.
25 Ed anche son loro in vituperio; [Quando] mi veggono, scuotono la testa.
I became also a reproach to them: [when] they saw me they shook their heads.
26 Aiutami, Signore Iddio mio; Salvami secondo la tua benignità.
Help me, O Lord my God; and save me according to thy mercy.
27 E sappiano che questo [è] la tua mano, [E che] tu, Signore, hai fatto questo.
And let them know that this is thy hand; and [that] thou, Lord, hast wrought it.
28 Essi malediranno, e tu benedirai; Si sono innalzati, ma saran confusi, Ed il tuo servitore si rallegrerà.
Let them curse, but thou shalt bless: let them that rise up against me be ashamed, but let thy servant rejoice.
29 Sieno i miei avversari vestiti di vituperio, Ed avvolti della lor vergogna, come di un mantello.
Let those that falsely accuse me be clothed with shame, and let them cover themselves with their shame as with a mantle.
30 Io celebrerò altamente il Signore colla mia bocca; E lo loderò in mezzo de' grandi.
I will give thanks to the Lord abundantly with my mouth; and in the midst of many I will praise him.
31 Perciocchè egli sta alla destra del povero, Per salvar[lo] da quelli che lo condannano a morte.
For he stood on the right hand of the poor, to save [me] from them that persecute my soul.
