ಪೂರ್ವಕಾಲವೃತ್ತಾಂತ ದ್ವಿತೀಯ ಭಾಗ 26

1 ಆಗ ಯೆಹೂದ ಜನರೆಲ್ಲರು ಹದಿನಾರು ವರ್ಷದವನಾದ ಉಜ್ಜೀಯನನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು, ಅವನನ್ನು ಅವನ ತಂದೆ ಅಮಚ್ಯನಿಗೆ ಬದಲಾಗಿ ಅರಸನನ್ನಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿದರು.

Then all the people of Judah took Uzziah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king instead of his father Amaziah.

2 ಅರಸನು ತನ್ನ ಪಿತೃಗಳ ಜೊತೆ ಸೇರಿದ ತರುವಾಯ, ಉಜ್ಜೀಯನು ಏಲೋತ್ ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಿಸಿ, ಅದನ್ನು ಯೆಹೂದಕ್ಕೆ ತಿರುಗಿ ಸೇರಿಸಿದನು.

He built Eloth, and restored it to Judah, after the king slept with his fathers.

3 ಉಜ್ಜೀಯನು ಅರಸನಾದಾಗ, ಹದಿನಾರು ವರ್ಷದವನಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಐವತ್ತೆರಡು ವರ್ಷ ಆಳಿದನು. ಅವನ ತಾಯಿಯ ಹೆಸರು ಯೆಕೊಲ್ಯಳು, ಅವಳು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನವಳು.

Sixteen years old was Uzziah when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty and two years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name also was Jecoliah of Jerusalem.

4 ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯಾದ ಅಮಚ್ಯನಂತೆ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿದನು.

And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his father Amaziah did.

5 ದೇವರ ದರ್ಶನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಗ್ರಹಿಕೆಯುಳ್ಳವನಾದ ಜೆಕರ್ಯನ ದಿವಸಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನು ದೇವರನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕಿದನು. ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕುವ ದಿವಸಗಳ ಮಟ್ಟಿಗೂ, ದೇವರು ಅವನನ್ನು ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿ ಪಡಿಸಿದರು.

And he sought God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the visions of God: and as long as he sought the LORD, God made him to prosper.

6 ಅವನು ಹೊರಟುಹೋಗಿ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ಮೇಲೆ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡಿ, ಗತ್‌ನ ಗೋಡೆಯನ್ನೂ, ಯಬ್ನೆಯ ಗೋಡೆಯನ್ನೂ, ಅಷ್ಡೋದಿನ ಗೋಡೆಯನ್ನೂ ಕೆಡವಿಬಿಟ್ಟು, ಅಷ್ಡೋದಿನ ಮತ್ತು ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಿಸಿದನು.

And he went forth and warred against the Philistines, and broke down the wall of Gath, and the wall of Jabneh, and the wall of Ashdod, and built cities about Ashdod, and among the Philistines.

7 ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ಮೇಲೆಯೂ, ಗುರ್ಬಾಳಿನಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸವಾಗಿದ್ದ ಅರಬಿಯರ ಮೇಲೆಯೂ, ಮೆಗೂನ್ಯರ ಮೇಲೆಯೂ ಅವನು ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡಿದಾಗ, ದೇವರು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಸಹಾಯ ಮಾಡಿದರು.

And God helped him against the Philistines, and against the Arabians that dwelt in Gurbaal, and the Mehunims.

8 ಅಮ್ಮೋನ್ಯರು ಉಜ್ಜೀಯನಿಗೆ ಕಪ್ಪವನ್ನು ಕೊಟ್ಟರು. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವನ ಹೆಸರು ಈಜಿಪ್ಟಿನ ಪ್ರದೇಶದವರೆಗೂ ಬಹಳವಾಗಿ ಹಬ್ಬಿತು. ಅವನು ಬಹಳವಾಗಿ ಬಲಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದನು.

And the Ammonites gave gifts to Uzziah: and his name spread abroad even to the entrance of Egypt; for he strengthened himself exceedingly.

9 ಉಜ್ಜೀಯನು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಮೂಲೆ ಬಾಗಿಲ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿಯೂ, ತಗ್ಗಿನ ಬಾಗಿಲ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿಯೂ, ಕೋಟೆಯ ಮೂಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಬುರುಜುಗಳನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಿಸಿದನು.

Moreover Uzziah built towers in Jerusalem at the corner gate, and at the valley gate, and at the turning of the wall, and fortified them.

10 ತಗ್ಗಿನ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ, ಬಯಲು ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಬಹು ಪಶುಗಳಿದ್ದವು. ಆ ಅಡವಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬುರುಜುಗಳನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಿಸಿ ಅನೇಕ ಬಾವಿಗಳನ್ನು ತೋಡಿಸಿದನು. ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಪರ್ವತಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೂ, ಕರ್ಮೆಲಿನಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಒಕ್ಕಲಿಗರೂ, ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಿ ವ್ಯವಸಾಯದವರೂ ಇದ್ದರು. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಅವನು ವ್ಯವಸಾಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಷ್ಟವುಳ್ಳವನಾಗಿದ್ದನು.

Also he built towers in the desert, and dug many wells: for he had many cattle, both in the low country, and in the plains: farmers also, and vinedressers in the mountains, and in Carmel: for he loved the soil.

11 ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಲೇಖಕನಾದ ಯೆಹೀಯೇಲನ ಕೈಯಿಂದಲೂ, ಅಧಿಪತಿಯಾದ ಮಾಸೇಯನ ಕೈಯಿಂದ ಬರೆದಿರುವ ಲೆಕ್ಕದ ಪ್ರಕಾರ, ಗುಂಪುಗುಂಪಾಗಿ ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗುವ ಯುದ್ಧವೀರರ ಸೈನ್ಯವು ಉಜ್ಜೀಯನಿಗೆ ಇತ್ತು. ಆ ಸೈನ್ಯವು ಅರಸನ ಪ್ರಧಾನರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬನಾದ ಹನನ್ಯನ ಕೈಕೆಳಗೆ ಇತ್ತು.

Moreover Uzziah had an army of fighting men, that went out to war by bands, according to the number of their reckoning by the hand of Jeiel the scribe and Maaseiah the ruler, under the hand of Hananiah, one of the king’s captains.

12 ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಶಾಲಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಟುಂಬಗಳ ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಥರ ಲೆಕ್ಕವು 2,600 ಮಂದಿ.

The whole number of the heads of the father’s houses of the mighty men of valour were two thousand and six hundred.

13 ಅವರ ಕೈಕೆಳಗೆ ಅರಸನಿಗೆ ಸಹಾಯವಾಗಿ ಶತ್ರುವಿನ ಮೇಲೆ ಬಹಳ ಪರಾಕ್ರಮದಿಂದ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡುವ 3,07,500 ಮಂದಿಯುಳ್ಳ ಸೈನ್ಯವಿತ್ತು.

And under their hand was an army, three hundred thousand and seven thousand and five hundred, that made war with mighty power, to help the king against the enemy.

14 ಉಜ್ಜೀಯನು ಸಮಸ್ತ ದಂಡಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರ ನಿಮಿತ್ತ ಗುರಾಣಿಗಳನ್ನೂ, ಈಟಿಗಳನ್ನೂ, ಶಿರಸ್ತ್ರಾಣಗಳನ್ನೂ, ಉಕ್ಕಿನ ಕವಚಗಳನ್ನೂ, ಬಿಲ್ಲುಗಳನ್ನೂ, ಕವಣೆಗಳನ್ನೂ ಸಿದ್ಧಮಾಡಿದನು.

And Uzziah prepared for them throughout all the army shields, and spears, and helmets, and coats of mail, and bows, and slings to cast stones.

15 ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಬಾಣಗಳನ್ನೂ, ದೊಡ್ಡ ಕಲ್ಲುಗಳನ್ನೂ ಎಸೆಯುವ ನಿಮಿತ್ತ ಬುರುಜುಗಳ ಮೇಲೆಯೂ, ಮಣ್ಣುದಿಬ್ಬಗಳ ಮೇಲೆಯೂ ಇರಲು, ಪ್ರವೀಣರಿಂದ ಮಾಡಿದ ಯಂತ್ರಗಳನ್ನೂ ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾಡಿಸಿದನು. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವನ ಹೆಸರು ಬಹಳ ದೂರದವರೆಗೆ ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧಿಯಾಯಿತು. ಬಹು ಬಲಿಷ್ಠನಾಗುವ ಪರ್ಯಂತರ ಅವನು ಬಹು ಆಶ್ಚರ್ಯಕರವಾಗಿ ಸಹಾಯ ಪಡೆಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು.

And he made in Jerusalem engines, invented by skilful men, to be on the towers and upon the bulwarks, to shoot arrows and great stones. And his name spread far abroad; for he was marvellously helped, till he was strong.

16 ಆದರೆ ಅವನು ಬಲ ಹೊಂದಿದ ಮೇಲೆ ಅವನ ಗರ್ವವು ನಾಶಕ್ಕೆ ನಡೆಸಿತು. ಅವನು ಧೂಪಪೀಠದ ಮೇಲೆ ಧೂಪಸುಡುವುದಕ್ಕೂ, ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ಆಲಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರವೇಶಿಸಿ ತನ್ನ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಅಪರಾಧ ಮಾಡಿದನು.

But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up to his destruction: for he transgressed against the LORD his God, and went into the temple of the LORD to burn incense upon the altar of incense.

17 ಆಗ ಯಾಜಕನಾದ ಅಜರ್ಯನೂ, ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ಪರಾಕ್ರಮವುಳ್ಳ ಯಾಜಕರಾದ ಎಂಬತ್ತು ಮಂದಿಯೂ ಅರಸನಾದ ಉಜ್ಜೀಯನ ಹಿಂದೆ ಪ್ರವೇಶಿಸಿ,

And Azariah the priest went in after him, and with him eighty priests of the LORD, that were valiant men:

18 ಅವನನ್ನು ಎದುರಿಸಿ, “ಉಜ್ಜೀಯನೇ, ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಧೂಪ ಸುಡುವುದು ಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಠಿತರಾದ ಯಾಜಕರಾದ ಆರೋನನ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಸೇರಿದ್ದು. ನೀನು ಪರಿಶುದ್ಧ ಸ್ಥಳದಿಂದ ಹೊರಟು ಹೋಗು, ಅಪರಾಧ ಮಾಡಿದೆ. ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರಿಂದ ನಿನಗೆ ಗೌರವ ದೊರಕದು,” ಎಂದನು.

And they withstood Uzziah the king, and said to him, It appertaineth not to thee, Uzziah, to burn incense to the LORD, but to the priests the sons of Aaron, that are consecrated to burn incense: go out of the sanctuary; for thou hast trespassed; neither shall it be for thy honour from the LORD God.

19 ಆಗ ಉಜ್ಜೀಯನು ಕೋಪಿಸಿಕೊಂಡನು. ಧೂಪವನ್ನು ಸುಡಲು ಅವನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಧೂಪಾರತಿ ಇತ್ತು. ಆದರೆ ಅವನು ಯಾಜಕರ ಮೇಲೆ ಕೋಪ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗಲೇ, ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ಮಂದಿರದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಧೂಪಪೀಠದ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತ ಯಾಜಕರ ಮುಂದೆ ಅವನ ಹಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಷ್ಠವು ಬಂದಿತು.

Then Uzziah was angry, and had a censer in his hand to burn incense: and while he was angry with the priests, the leprosy even rose up in his forehead before the priests in the house of the LORD, from beside the incense altar.

20 ಆಗ ಮುಖ್ಯಯಾಜಕನಾದ ಅಜರ್ಯನೂ, ಯಾಜಕರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಅವನನ್ನು ದೃಷ್ಟಿಸಿ ನೋಡಿದಾಗ ಅವನ ಹಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಷ್ಠವು ಕಂಡುಬಂದದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವರು ಅವನನ್ನು ಶೀಘ್ರವಾಗಿ ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಹೊರಹಾಕಿದರು. ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ತನ್ನನ್ನು ಬಾಧಿಸಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವನು ಸ್ವತಃ ಹೊರಗೆ ಹೋಗಲು ತ್ವರೆಪಟ್ಟನು.

And Azariah the chief priest, and all the priests, looked upon him, and, behold, he was leprous in his forehead, and they thrust him out from there; yea, himself hastened also to go out, because the LORD had smitten him.

21 ಅರಸನಾದ ಉಜ್ಜೀಯನು ಮರಣದ ದಿವಸದವರೆಗೂ ಕುಷ್ಠರೋಗಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದು ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ಆಲಯದಿಂದ ಬಹಿಷ್ಕೃತನಾದನು. ಅವನು ಕುಷ್ಠರೋಗದ ನಿಮಿತ್ತ ಪ್ರತ್ಯೇಕವಾದ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸವಾಗಿದ್ದನು. ಅವನ ಮಗ ಯೋತಾಮನು ರಾಜಗೃಹಾಧಿಪತ್ಯವನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರಜಾಪಾಲನೆಯನ್ನೂ ನೋಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು.

And Uzziah the king was a leper to the day of his death, and dwelt in a separate house, being a leper; for he was cut off from the house of the LORD: and Jotham his son was over the king’s house, judging the people of the land.

22 ಉಜ್ಜೀಯನ ಇತರ ಕ್ರಿಯೆಗಳನ್ನು, ಮೊದಲನೆಯದಿಂದ ಕಡೆಯವರೆಗೆ ಆಮೋಚನ ಮಗನಾದ ಯೆಶಾಯನೆಂಬ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಯು ಬರೆದನು.

Now the rest of the acts of Uzziah, first and last, were written by Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz.

23 ಉಜ್ಜೀಯನು ಮೃತನಾಗಿ ತನ್ನ ಪಿತೃಗಳ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಸೇರಿದನು. ಅವನು ಕುಷ್ಠರೋಗಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದರಿಂದ, ಅವರು ಅವನ ಶವವನ್ನು ರಾಜಕುಟುಂಬದ ಸ್ಮಶಾನ ಭೂಮಿಯ ಹತ್ತಿರದ ಹೊಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಮಾಧಿಮಾಡಿದರು. ಅವನಿಗೆ ಬದಲಾಗಿ ಅವನ ಮಗನಾದ ಯೋತಾಮನು ಅರಸನಾದನು.

So Uzziah slept with his fathers, and they buried him with his fathers in the field of the burial which belonged to the kings; for they said, He is a leper: and Jotham his son reigned in his stead.
