1 Ary nony afaka andro maro, dia tonga tamin’ i Elia ny tenin’ i Jehovah tamin’ ny taona fahatelo nanao hoe: Mandehana hiseho amin’ i Ahaba, fa handatsaka ranonorana amin’ ny tany Aho.
After many dayes, the worde of the Lord came to Eliiah, in the third yeere, saying, Goe, shewe thy selfe vnto Ahab, and I will sende rayne vpon the earth.
2 Dia niainga Elia hiseho amin’ i Ahaba. Ary mafy ny mosary tany Samaria.
And Eliiah went to shew himselfe vnto Ahab, and there was a great famine in Samaria.
3 Ary Ahaba niantso an’ i Obadia, izay lehiben’ ny tao an-dapany (Obadia dia natahotra an’ i Jehovah tokoa,
And Ahab called Obadiah the gouernour of his house: (and Obadiah feared God greatly:
4 ka nony naringan’ i Jezebela ny mpaminanin’ i Jehovah, dia nalain’ i Obadia ny mpaminany zato ka nafeniny, dimam-polo avy no nataony tao an-johy iray, ary novelominy mofo sy rano ireo).
For when Iezebel destroyed the Prophets of the Lord, Obadiah tooke an hundreth Prophets, and hid them, by fiftie in a caue, and he fed them with bread and water.)
5 Ary hoy Ahaba tamin’ i Obadia: Andeha mitety ny tany, dia hatrany amin’ ny loharano rehetra sy hatrany amin’ ny lohasahan-driaka rehetra; fa angamba hahita ahitra hamelomana ny soavaly sy ny ampondra isika, mba tsy hisy hovonointsika ny biby fiompintsika.
And Ahab saide vnto Obadiah, Goe into the land, vnto all the fountaines of water, and vnto all the riuers, if so be that we may finde grasse to saue the horses and the mules aliue, lest we depriue the lande of the beastes.
6 Dia nizara lalana izy, ka Ahaba nandeha tamin’ ny lalana iray, ary Obadia kosa nandeha tamin’ ny lalana iray.
And so they deuided the lande betweene them to walke thorowe it. Ahab went one way by him selfe, and Obadiah went another way by him selfe.
7 Ary raha tany an-dalana Obadia indro, Elia nifanena taminy; ary nahalala azy izy, dia niankohoka ka nanao hoe: Hay! ianao va ity, ry Elia tompoko?
And as Obadiah was in the way, behold, Eliiah met him: and he knew him, and fell on his face, and said, Art not thou my lord Eliiah?
8 Ary izy namaly azy hoe: Eny, izaho ity, andeha, lazao amin’ ny tomponao hoe: Injao, atsy Elia.
And he answered him, Yea, goe tell thy lord, Behold, Eliiah is here.
9 Fa hoy Obadia: Inona no heloko, no anoloranao ny mpanomponao ho eo an-tànan’ i Ahaba hamonoany ahy?
And he said, What haue I sinned, that thou wouldest deliuer thy seruant into the hande of Ahab, to slay me?
10 Raha velona koa Jehovah Andriamanitrao, dia tsy misy firenena na fanjakana izay tsy nanirahan’ ny tompoko hitady anao; ary raha hoy ny olona: Tsy ato izy, dia nampianianiny izany firenena sy fanjakana izany raha tsy nahita anao izy.
As the Lord thy God liueth, there is no nation or kingdome, whither my lorde hath not sent to seeke thee: and when they sayd, He is not here, he tooke an othe of the kingdome and nation, if they had not found thee.
11 Ary ankehitriny hoy ianao: Andeha, lazao amin’ ny tomponao hoe: Injao, atsy Elia.
And now thou sayest, Goe, tell thy lorde, Beholde, Eliiah is here.
12 Nefa raha vao miala aminao aho, dia ho entin’ ny Fanahin’ i Jehovah any amin’ izay tsy fantatro ianao; koa raha tonga aho ka milaza amin’ i Ahaba, nefa tsy ho hitany ianao tsinona, dia hovonoiny aho; kanefa izaho mpanomponao matahotra an’ i Jehovah hatry ny fony mbola kely.
And when I am gone from thee, the Spirit of the Lord shall cary thee into some place that I doe not know: so when I come and tell Ahab, if he cannot finde thee, then wil he kill me: But I thy seruant feare the Lord from my youth.
13 Moa tsy nolazaina taminao va, tompoko, izay nataoko tamin’ ilay namonoan’ i Jezebela ny mpaminanin’ i Jehovah, dia ny nanafenako ny mpaminanin’ i Jehovah zato lahy, ka dimam-polo avy no nataoko tao an-johy iray, ary novelomiko mofo sy rano ireo?
Was it not tolde my lord, what I did when Iezebel slew the Prophets of the Lord, how I hid an hundreth men of the Lordes Prophets by fifties in a caue, and fed them with bread and water?
14 Nefa ankehitriny hoy ianao: Andeha, lazao amin’ ny tomponao hoe: Injao, atsy Elia; dia hamono ahy Ahaba.
And now thou sayest, Go, tel thy lord, Behold, Eliiah is here, that he may slay me.
15 Fa hoy Elia: Raha velona koa Jehovah, Tompon’ ny maro, Izay itsanganako eo anatrehany, dia hiseho aminy tokoa aho anio.
And Eliiah said, As the Lord of hostes liueth, before whome I stand, I will surely shewe my selfe vnto him this day.
16 Dia lasa Obadia nitsena an’ i Ahaba ka nilaza taminy; ary Ahaba nandeha hitsena an’ i Elia.
So Obadiah went to meete Ahab, and tolde him: And Ahab went to meete Eliiah.
17 Ary nony hitan’ i Ahaba Elia, dia hoy izy taminy: Hay! tonga etỳ ianao, ry ilay mampidi-doza amin’ ny Isiraely!
And when Ahab saw Eliiah, Ahab said vnto him, Art thou he that troubleth Israel?
18 Fa Elia namaly hoe: Tsy izaho no nampidi-doza tamin’ ny Isiraely, fa ianao sy ny mpianakavin’ ny rainao ihany tamin’ ny nandavanareo ny didin’ i Jehovah sy ny nanarahanao ireo Bala.
And he answered, I haue not troubled Israel, but thou, and thy fathers house, in that ye haue forsaken the commandements of the Lord, and thou hast followed Baalim.
19 Ary ankehitriny maniraha hamory ny Isiraely rehetra hihaona amiko any an-tendrombohitra Karmela, ary ny mpaminanin’ i Bala dimam-polo amby efa-jato sy ny mpaminanin’ ny Aseraha efa-jato, izay mihinana eo amin’ ny latabatr’ i Jezebela.
Now therefore send, and gather to me all Israel vnto mount Carmel, and the prophets of Baal foure hundreth and fiftie, and the prophets of the groues foure hundreth, which eate at Iezebels table.
20 Dia naniraka tany amin’ ny Zanak’ Isiraely rehetra Ahaba ka namory ny mpaminany ho any an-tendrombohitra Karmela.
So Ahab sent vnto all the children of Israel, and gathered the prophets together vnto mount Carmel.
21 Ary dia nankeo amin’ ny olona rehetra Elia ka nanao hoe: Mandra-pahoviana no hiroa saina ianareo? Raha Jehovah no Andriamanitra, manaraha Azy; fa raha Bala kosa, dia manaraha azy. Fa ny olona tsy namaly azy akory.
And Eliiah came vnto all the people, and said, How long halt ye betweene two opinions? If the Lord be God, follow him: but if Baal be he, then goe after him. And the people answered him not a worde.
22 Dia hoy Elia tamin’ ny olona: Izaho dia izaho irery ihany no sisa amin’ ny mpaminanin’ i Jehovah; fa ny mpaminanin’ i Bala kosa dia dimam-polo amby efa-jato lahy.
Then said Eliiah vnto the people, I onely remayne a Prophet of the Lord: but Baals prophets are foure hundreth and fiftie men.
23 Koa aoka ireo no hanome vantotr’ ombilahy roa ho antsika; ary aoka izy no hifidy ny iray ho azy, dia handrasa azy ka hametraka azy eo ambonin’ ny kitay hazo, nefa tsy hasiana afo ao; ary izaho kosa hamboatra ny iray ka hametraka azy eo ambonin’ ny kitay hazo, nefa tsy hasiana afo koa ao.
Let them therefore giue vs two bullockes, and let them chuse the one, and cut him in pieces, and lay him on the wood, but put no fire vnder, and I will prepare the other bullocke, and lay him on the wood, and will put no fire vnder.
24 Ary miantsoa ny anaran’ ny andriamanitrareo ianareo, ary izaho kosa hiantso ny anaran’ i Jehovah; koa Izay Andriamanitra mamaly amin’ ny afo, dia aoka Izy no ho Andriamanitra. Ary ny olona rehetra namaly hoe: Marina izany teny izany.
Then call ye on the name of your god, and I will call on the name of the Lord: and then the God that answereth by fire, let him be God. And all the people answered, and sayde, It is well spoken.
25 Ary hoy Elia tamin’ ireo mpaminanin’ i Bala: Mifidiana vantotr’ ombilahy iray ho anareo, ka dia manamboara aloha ianareo, satria ianareo no maro; ary miantsoa ny anaran’ ny andriamanitrareo, nefa aza asiana afo ao.
And Eliiah said vnto the prophets of Baal, Chuse you a bullocke, and prepare him first, (for ye are many) and call on the name of your gods, but put no fire vnder.
26 Dia naka ny vantotr’ ombilahy izay nomeny azy ireo ka namboatra azy, dia niantso ny anaran’ i Bala hatramin’ ny maraina ka mandra-pitataovovonan’ ny andro izy nanao hoe: Ry Bala ô, henoy izahay! Kanjo tsy nisy nanoina na namaly akory. Ary nihinjakinjaka tamin’ ny alitara izay nataony izy.
So they tooke the one bullocke, that was giuen them, and they prepared it, and called on the name of Baal, from morning to noone, saying, O Baal, heare vs: but there was no voyce, nor any to answere: and they leapt vpon the altar that was made.
27 Ary nony nitataovovonana ny andro, dia nanesoeso azy Elia ka nanao hoe: Miantsoa mafy ihany, fa andriamanitra izy; angamba sondrian-dresaka izy, na miavela, na nisy nalehany, na matory angaha izy ka tsy maintsy hofohazina.
And at noone Eliiah mocked them, and said, Crye loude: for he is a god: either he talketh or pursueth his enemies, or is in his iourney, or it may be that he sleepeth, and must be awaked.
28 Dia niantso mafy indray ireo sady nitetika ny tenany araka ny fanaony amin’ ny sabatra sy ny lefona mandra-pahaloa-drà tamin’ ny tenany.
And they cryed loude, and cut them selues as their maner was, with kniues and launcers, till the blood gushed out vpon them.
29 Ary na dia efa nitsidika aza ny andro, dia mbola naminany ihany izy hatramin’ ny fotoan’ ny fanatitra hariva; nefa tsy nisy nanoina, na namaly, na nihaino azy akory.
And when midday was passed, and they had prophecied vntil the offring of the euening sacrifice, there was neither voyce, nor one to answere, nor any that regarded.
30 Ary hoy Elia tamin’ ny olona rehetra: Manatona ahy. Dia nanatona azy ny olona rehetra. Ary Elia namboatra ny alitaran’ i Jehovah izay efa rava
And Eliiah said vnto all the people, Come to me. And all the people came to him. And he repayred the altar of the Lord that was broken downe.
31 ka naka vato roa ambin’ ny folo, araka ny isan’ ny firenen’ ny zanak’ i Jakoba, izay nihavian’ ilay tenin’ i Jehovah hoe: Isiraely no ho anaranao;
And Eliiah tooke twelue stones, according to the nomber of the tribes of the sonnes of Iaakob, (vnto whome the worde of the Lord came, saying, Israel shalbe thy name)
32 ary izany vato izany dia nataony alitara ho an’ ny anaran’ i Jehovah; ary nanao hady kely manodidina ny alitara koa izy, izay mifafy voan-javatra indroan’ ny famarana.
And with the stones he buylt an altar in the Name of the Lord: and he made a ditch round about the altar, as great as woulde conteine two measures of seede.
33 Ary nandahatra ny kitay hazo izy, dia nandrasa ny vantotr’ ombilahy ka nametraka azy teo ambonin’ ny kitay hazo,
And he put the wood in order, and hewed the bullocke in pieces, and layd him on the wood,
34 dia nanao hoe: Fenoy rano ny siny efatra, ka aidino amin’ ny fanatitra dorana sy amin’ ny kitay hazo. Dia hoy koa izy: Ataovy indray izany. Dia nataony indray. Ary hoy koa izy: Ataovy indray koa izany. Ary dia nataony indray koa.
And said, Fill foure barrels with water, and powre it on the burnt offring and on the wood. Againe he said, Doe so againe. And they did so the second time. And he sayde, Doe it the third time. And they did it the third time.
35 Ary ny rano nikorotsaka nanodidina ny alitara; ka nofenoiny rano koa ny hady kely.
And the water ran round about the altar: and he filled the ditch with water also.
36 Ary nony tamin’ ny fotoan’ ny fanatitra hariva dia nanatona Elia mpaminany ka nanao hoe: Jehovah ô. Andriamanitr’ i Abrahama sy Isaka ary Isiraely, aoka ho fantatra anio fa Hianao no Andriamanitra amin’ ny Isiraely, ary izaho no mpanomponao, ary araka ny teninao no efa nanaovako izao zavatra izao.
And when they should offer the euening sacrifice, Eliiah the Prophet came, and sayd, Lord God of Abraham, Izhak and of Israel, let it be knowen this day, that thou art the God of Israel, and that I am thy seruant, and that I haue done all these things at thy commandement.
37 Mihainoa ahy mihainoa ahy, Jehovah ô, mba hahafantaran’ ireto olona ireto fa Hianao Jehovah no Andriamanitra, ary Hianao no mampiverina ny fony indray.
Heare me, O Lord, heare me, and let this people know that thou art the Lord God, and that thou hast turned their heart againe at the last.
38 Dia latsaka ny afon’ i Jehovah ka nandevona ny fanatitra dorana sy ny kitay hazo sy ny vato ary ny vovoka sady nandritra ny rano tao amin’ ny hady kely.
Then the fire of the Lord fell, and consumed the burnt offring, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked vp the water that was in the ditche.
39 Ary raha nahita izany ny olona rehetra, dia niankohoka ka nanao hoe: Jehovah, Izy no Andriamanitra; Jehovah, Izy no Andriamanitra.
And when all the people sawe it, they fell on their faces, and saide, The Lord is God, the Lord is God.
40 Ary hoy Elia taminy: Sambory ny mpaminanin’ i Bala; aza avela hisy afa-mandositra izy na dia iray akory aza. Dia nosamborin’ ny olona izy; ary nentin’ i Elia ho eo amin’ ny ony Kisona, ka dia novonoiny teo.
And Elijah said vnto them, Take the prophets of Baal, let not a man of them escape. and they tooke them, and Eliiah brought them to the brooke Kishon, and slewe them there.
41 Ary hoy Elia tamin’ i Ahaba: Miakara hihinana sy hisotro, fa misasasasa izato ny ranonorana be.
And Eliiah sayde vnto Ahab, Get thee vp, eate and drinke, for there is a sound of much rayne.
42 Dia niakatra hihinana sy hisotro Ahaba. Fa Elia kosa niakatra ho eo an-tampon’ i Karmela, dia niankohoka tamin’ ny tany, ary ny lohany nataony teo anelanelan’ ny lohaliny
So Ahab went vp to eate and to drinke, and Eliiah went vp to the top of Carmel: and he crouched vnto the earth, and put his face betweene his knees,
43 Ary hoy izy tamin’ ny zatovony: Miakara kely, ka tazano ny ranomasina. Dia niakatra izy ka nitazana, dia nanao hoe: Tsy misy na inona na inona. Ary hoy izy: Mandehana koa impito.
And sayde to his seruant, Goe vp now and looke towarde the way of the Sea. And he went vp, and looked, and sayde, There is nothing. Againe he sayd, Goe againe seuen times.
44 Ary nony fanimpitony, dia hoy izy: Misy rahona kely hoatra ny tànan’ olona miakatra avy eny amin’ ny ranomasina. Dia hoy izy: Miakara, ka lazao amin’ i Ahaba hoe: Amboary ny kalesinao, ka midìna, fandrao voasakan’ ny ranonorana ianao.
And at the seuenth time he sayd, Behold, there ariseth a litle cloude out of the sea like a mans hand. Then he sayd, Vp, and say vnto Ahab, Make readie thy charet, and get thee downe, that the raine stay thee not.
45 Ary vetivety dia maintin’ ny rahona sy ny rivotra ny lanitra, ka nisy ranonorana be. Ary Ahaba niakatra tamin’ ny kalesy ka nankany Jezirela.
And in the meane while the heauen was blacke with cloudes and winde, and there was a great rayne. Then Ahab went vp and came to Izreel.
46 Ary ny tànan’ i Jehovah dia tao amin’ i Elia, dia nisikina izy ka nihazakazaka teo alohan i Ahaba mandra-pahatongany tany Jezirela.
And the hand of the Lord was on Eliiah, and he girded vp his Ioynes, and ran before Ahab till he came to Izreel.
