1 Mijanjiña ry Israele! Fa hitsake Iardeney irehe te anito himoaha’o, ho tavane’o ty rofoko bey naho maozatse te ama’o, rova jabajaba, aman-kijoly miningoningo mb’ andikerañe ey;
Hear, Israel; you are about to cross over the Jordan today, to go in to dispossess nations greater and mightier than yourself, and cities that are great and fortified up to heaven,
2 ondaty fatratse naho mijoalajoala o anan-te-Anakeo, toe fohi’o, vaho jinanji’o ty ama’e ty hoe, Ia ty mahafijohañe aolo’ o nte-Anakeo?
a people great and tall, the sons of the Anakim, whom you know, and of whom you have heard people say, 'Who can stand before the sons of Anak?'
3 Aa le mahafohina anito te hiaolo azo hitsake mb’eo manahake ty afo mamorototo t’Iehovà Andrianañahare’o; ho rotsahe’e iereo vaho hampiambanè’e aolo’o eo, handroaha’o naho ho zamane’o aniany, amy nitsarae’ Iehovà ama’oy.
Know therefore today that Yahweh your God is he who goes over before you like a devouring fire; he will destroy them, and he will subdue them before you; so will you drive them out and make them to perish quickly, as Yahweh has said to you.
4 Ie hasiotsio’ Iehovà Andrianañahare’o aolo’o eo, le ko manao añ’ arofo’o ao ty hoe, Ty havantañako ty nanesea’ Iehovà ahy himoneñako an-tane atoy, te mone ty halò-tsere’ o fifeheañeo ty nandroaha’ Iehovà iareo aolo’o mb’eo.
Do not say in your heart, after Yahweh your God has thrust them out from before you, 'It was because of my righteousness that Yahweh has brought me in to possess this land,' for it was because of the wickedness of these nations that Yahweh is driving them out from before you.
5 Tsy ty havañona’o ndra ty havantañan’ arofo’o ty hionjona’o hitavañe ty tane’ iareo, te mone ty haratia’ o fifelehañe retiañe ty aniora’ Iehovà Andrianañahare’o iareo aolo’o eo hañenefa’ Iehovà i nitsara’e am-panta aman-droae’oy, amy Avrahame, Ietsàke vaho Iakobe.
It is not because of your righteousness or the uprightness of your heart that you are going in to possess their land, but it is because of the wickedness of these nations that your God is driving them out from before you, and so that he may make come true the word that he swore to your ancestors, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
6 Mahafohina te tsy ty hamarentane’o ty anolora’ Iehovà Andrianañahare’o ama’o ty tane fiaintane toy hitavana’o, ihe foko gan-katoke.
Know therefore, that Yahweh your God is not giving you this good land to possess because of your righteousness, for you are a stubborn people.
Remember and do not forget how you provoked Yahweh your God to anger in the wilderness; from the day that you left the land of Egypt until you came to this place, you have been rebellious against Yahweh.
8 Mbore nampiviñere’ areo e Korebe añe t’Iehovà, le akore ty haviñera’ Iehovà ama’ areo kanao ho zinama’e.
Also at Horeb you provoked Yahweh to anger, and Yahweh was angry enough with you to destroy you.
9 Izaho niañambone’ i vohitsey handrambe i ravem-bato rey, i ravem-batom-pañina nanoe’ Iehovà ho anahareoy, ie nitambatse am-bohitse ey efa-polo andro naho efa-polo haleñe, tsy nihinan-kane tsy ninon-drano.
When I went up the mountain to receive the tablets of stone, the tablets of the covenant that Yahweh made with you, I stayed on the mountain for forty days and forty nights; I neither ate bread nor drank water.
10 Le natolo’ Iehovà ahy i ravem-bato roe sinokin-drambom-pitàn’ Añahare rey; ama’e eo ze hene tsara nitsarae’ Iehovà ama’ areo boak’ añ’ afo ao amy vohitsey añ’ andro’ i valobohòkey.
Yahweh gave to me the two tablets of stone written with his finger; on them was written everything just like all the words that Yahweh announced to you on the mountain out of the middle of the fire on the day of the assembly.
11 Ie nimodo i efapolo andro naho efa-polo haleñe rey le natolo’ Iehovà ahiko i ravem-bato roe rey, i ravem-pañina rey.
It happened at the end of those forty days and forty nights that Yahweh gave me the two tablets of stone, the tablets of the covenant.
12 Le hoe t’Iehovà amako, Miongaha, naho mizotsoa mb’eo masìka amy te nameta vatañe ondaty nente’o boake Mitsraimeo, nitsile aniany amy lalañe liniliko am’iareo horiheñey, nampitranake saren-draha.
Yahweh said to me, 'Arise, go down quickly from here, for your people, whom you brought out of Egypt, have corrupted themselves. They have quickly turned aside out of the path that I commanded them. They have made for themselves a cast figure.'
13 Mbore nitsara amako t’Iehovà, ami’ty hoe, Fa nitreako ondaty retiañe, toe gan-katoke ondatio.
Furthermore, Yahweh spoke to me and said, 'I have seen this people; they are a stubborn people.
14 Apoho habaibaiko iareo le ho fòrako ambanen-dikerañe ao ty tahina’ iareo vaho hanoeko foko maozatse irehe, ho jabajaba te am’ iereo.
Let me alone, so that I may destroy them and blot out their name from under heaven, and I will make of you a nation mightier and greater than they.'
15 Aa le nitolike iraho nizotso amy vohitsey ie nisolebotse iaby i vohitsey; an-tañako roe i ravem-pañina roe rey.
So I turned around and came down the mountain, and the mountain was burning. The two tablets of the covenant were in my hands.
16 Le nitreako t’ie vata’e nanao hakeo am’ Iehovà Andrianañahare’ areo amy nampitranaha’ areo sare baniay; nalisa nandifik’ amy lalañe nandilia’ Iehovày.
I looked, and behold, you had sinned against Yahweh your God. You had molded for yourselves a calf. You had quickly turned aside out of the path that Yahweh had commanded you.
17 Nivontitireko amy zao i rave’e roe rey le naretsako boak’ an-tañako roe vaho nivolentsañe añatrefam-pihaino’ areo.
I took the two tablets and threw them out of my hands. I broke them before your eyes.
18 Nibabok’ añatrefa’ Iehovà amy zao iraho, manahake i teoy, efapolo andro naho efa-polo haleñe, tsy nihinan-kane tsy ninon-drano ty amo hakeo nanoe’ areo iabio naho nanao haratiañe añatrefa’ Iehovà hampiviñetse aze.
Again I lay facedown before Yahweh for forty days and forty nights; I neither ate bread nor drank water, because of all your sin that you had committed, in doing that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh, so as to provoke him to anger.
19 Fa nihemban-draho ami’ty filoroloron-kaviñera’ Iehovà ama’ areo hera harotsa’e, fe nañaoñ’ ahy henane zay ka t’Iehovà.
For I was afraid of the anger and hot displeasure with which Yahweh was angry enough against you to destroy you. But Yahweh listened to me that time also.
20 Akore ty haviñera’ Iehovà amy Aharone kanao ho nañohofa’e loza, fe nihalaliako ka henane zay.
Yahweh was very angry with Aaron so as to destroy him; I prayed for Aaron also at the same time.
21 Rinambeko amy zao ty tahi’ areo, i bania maleotse natrana’ areoy, le finorototoko añ’afo ao naho dinemodemoko naho linisako ho bo’e, eka ndra pilipito’e ampara’ te ni-deboke vaho nahifiko amy torahañe mikararake boak’ am-bohitsey i lembo’ey.
I took your sin, the calf that you had made, and burned it, beat it, and ground it very small, until it was as fine as dust. I threw its dust into the stream that came down from the mountain.
22 Mbore nampiviñere’ areo t’Iehovà e Taberà naho e Masà, naho e Kibrote-hatavà añe.
At Taberah, at Massah, and at Kibroth Hattaavah, you provoked Yahweh to wrath.
23 Le ie nirahe’ Iehovà mb’e Kadese-barnea mb’eo ami’ty hoe, Mionjona, tavano i tane natoloko anahareoy, le niola amy nandilia’ Iehovà Andrianañahare’ areoy, tsy niantoke vaho tsy nijanjiñe i fiarañanaña’ey.
When Yahweh sent you from Kadesh Barnea and said, 'Go up and take possession of the land that I have given you,' then you rebelled against the commandment of Yahweh your God, and you did not believe or listen to his voice.
24 Toe fa zineha’ areo t’Iehovà amo hene andro nahafohinako anahareoo.
You have been rebellious against Yahweh from the day that I knew you.
25 Aa le handro am-pohatse ty nibabohako añatrefa’ Iehovà, efa-polo andro naho efa-polo haleñe ty nibabohako ty amy tsinara’ Iehovày t’ie hanjamañe anahareo,
So I lay facedown before Yahweh those forty days and forty nights, because he had said that he would destroy you.
26 aa le nihalaly am’ Iehovà iraho nanao ty hoe, Ry Talè Iehovà, ko ampikoromahe’o ondati’oo—o lova’oo, o nijebañe’o ami’ty hajabahina’o, ie nampiengà’o i Mitsraime am-pitàñe maozatseo.
I prayed to Yahweh and said, 'O Lord Yahweh, do not destroy your people or your inheritance whom you have redeemed through your greatness, which you have brought out of Egypt with a mighty hand.
27 Tiahio i mpitoro’o rey, i Avrahame, Ietsàke, naho Iakobe, le ko haoñe’o ty fanjehara’ ondatio, ty halò-tsere’ iareo naho o hakeo’ iareoo,
Call to mind your servants Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; do not look at the stubbornness of this people, nor at their wickedness, nor at their sin,
28 tsy mone hanao ty hoe i tane’ nampiengà’o anaiy: Kanao tsy nahafanese iareo mb’an-tane nampitamae’e añe t’Iehovà, mbore ami’ty fihejea’e, le nasese’e am-patrambey ao hikoromake;
so that the land from where you brought us should say, “Because Yahweh was not able to bring them into the land that he promised to them, and because he hated them, he has brought them out to kill them in the wilderness.”
29 f’ie ondati’o naho lova’o, o nampiengà’o an-kaozara’o ra’elahy vaho am-pità’o natora-kitsio.
Yet they are your people and your inheritance, whom you brought out by your great strength and by the display of your power.'
