1 Josva, Nuns sønn, sendte hemmelig to speidere fra Sittim og sa: Gå avsted og se eder om i landet og særlig i Jeriko! De gikk avsted og kom inn i huset til en skjøge som hette Rahab, og de lå der om natten.

14 Da sa mennene til henne: Med vårt eget liv skal vi svare for eders liv! Så sant I ikke lar nogen få vite noget om vårt ærend, skal vi, når Herren gir oss landet, vise barmhjertighet og trofasthet mot dig.

15 Så firte hun dem ned gjennem vinduet med et rep; for hennes hus lå ved byens mur, så hun bodde like ved muren.
