1 Peters 1
1 Peter, Jesu Kristi apostel, til dei utlendingar som er spreidde i Pontus, Galatia, Kappadokia, Asia og Bitynia, utvalde
Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the choice sojourners of the dispersion of Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,
2 etter Gud Faders fyrevitende ved Andens helging til lydnad og yverskvetting med Jesu Kristi blod: Nåde og fred vere med dykk i rikt mål!
according to a foreknowledge of God the Father, in sanctification of the Spirit, to obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace be multiplied!
3 Lova vere Gud og vår Herre Jesu Kristi Fader, han som etter si store miskunn hev atterfødt oss til ei livande von ved Jesu Kristi uppstoda frå dei daude,
Blessed [is] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who, according to the abundance of His kindness did beget us again to a living hope, through the rising again of Jesus Christ out of the dead,
4 til ein uforgjengeleg og flekklaus og uvisneleg arv, som er gøymd i himmelen åt dykk,
to an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and unfading, reserved in the heavens for you,
5 de som ved Guds magt vert upphaldne ved trui til den frelsa som er ferdig til å verta openberra i den siste tid.
who, in the power of God are being guarded, through faith, unto salvation, ready to be revealed in the last time,
6 Det gled de dykk yver, um de og no ei lita stund - når so skal vera - er sorgtyngde i ymse freistingar,
in which ye are glad, a little now, if it be necessary, being made to sorrow in manifold trials,
7 so dykkar prøvde tru, som er mykje kostelegare enn det forgjengelege gull, som de veit vert prøvt i eld, må verta funni til lov og pris og æra i Jesu Kristi openberring,
that the proof of your faith — much more precious than of gold that is perishing, and through fire being approved — may be found to praise, and honour, and glory, in the revelation of Jesus Christ,
8 han som de ikkje hev kjent, men endå elskar, han som de no ikkje ser, men endå trur på og gled dykk med usegjeleg og herleggjord gleda,
whom, not having seen, ye love, in whom, now not seeing and believing, ye are glad with joy unspeakable and glorified,
9 når de vinn fram til målet for trui, frelsa for sjælerne.
receiving the end of your faith — salvation of souls;
10 Um denne frelsa var det profetarne granska og grunda, dei som spådde um den nåde de skulde få,
concerning which salvation seek out and search out did prophets who concerning the grace toward you did prophecy,
11 med di dei grunda på kva tid eller kva slag tid Kristi Ande som var i deim, viste fram til, når han vitna fyreåt um Kristi lidingar og um herlegdomen deretter;
searching in regard to what or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ that was in them was manifesting, testifying beforehand the sufferings of Christ and the glory after these,
12 for det var deim openberra, at dei tente ikkje seg sjølve, men oss med dette som no er kunngjort dykk ved deim som hev forkynt dykk evangeliet ved den Heilage Ande, som vart send frå himmelen - dette som englarne hev hug til å skoda inn i.
to whom it was revealed, that not to themselves, but to us they were ministering these, which now were told to you (through those who did proclaim good news to you, ) in the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, to which things messengers do desire to bend looking.
13 Difor, umgyrd dykkar hugs lender, ver ædrue og set dykkar von fullt og fast til den nåde som de fær tilførd ved Jesu Kristi openberring!
Wherefore having girded up the loins of your mind, being sober, hope perfectly upon the grace that is being brought to you in the revelation of Jesus Christ,
14 Som lyduge born skal de ikkje skikka dykk etter dei fyrre lysterne i dykkar vankunna,
as obedient children, not fashioning yourselves to the former desires in your ignorance,
15 men ver, etter den Heilage som kalla dykk, ogso de heilage i all dykkar ferd!
but according as He who did call you [is] holy, ye also, become holy in all behaviour,
16 for det stend skrive: «De skal vera heilage, for eg er heilag!»
because it hath been written, 'Become ye holy, because I am holy;'
17 Og når de påkallar honom som Fader, som dømer utan å gjera skilnad, etter kvar manns gjerning, so ferdast med otte den tid de liver i utlendingskapen;
and if on the Father ye do call, who without acceptance of persons is judging according to the work of each, in fear the time of your sojourn pass ye,
18 for de veit at de ikkje med forgjengelege ting, sylv eller gull, vart frikjøpte frå dykkar fåfengde ferd, som de hadde ervt ifrå federne,
having known that, not with corruptible things — silver or gold — were ye redeemed from your foolish behaviour delivered by fathers,
19 men med Kristi dyre blod, som blodet av eit ulastelegt og lytelaust lamb.
but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and unspotted — Christ's —
20 Han var kjend fyreåt, fyrr verdi vart grunnlagd, men vart openberra i dei siste tider for dykkar skuld,
foreknown, indeed, before the foundation of the world, and manifested in the last times because of you,
21 de som ved honom trur på Gud, som vekte honom upp frå dei daude og gav honom herlegdom, so trui dykkar og er von til Gud.
who through him do believe in God, who did raise out of the dead, and glory to him did give, so that your faith and hope may be in God.
22 Reinsa sjælerne dykkar i lydnad mot sanningi til uskrymta broderkjærleik, og elska kvarandre inderleg av hjarta,
Your souls having purified in the obedience of the truth through the Spirit to brotherly love unfeigned, out of a pure heart one another love ye earnestly,
23 de som er atterfødde, ikkje av forgjengelegt, men uforgjengelegt sæde, ved Guds ord, som liver og varer! (aiōn g165)
being begotten again, not out of seed corruptible, but incorruptible, through a word of God — living and remaining — to the age; (aiōn g165)
24 For alt kjøt er som gras, og all herlegdomen hjå det som blom på gras. Graset visna, og blomen på det fall av.
because all flesh [is] as grass, and all glory of man as flower of grass; wither did the grass, and the flower of it fell away,
