مراثی 1

1 اورشلیم که زمانی شهری پرجمعیت بود اینک متروک شده است! شهری که در بین قومها محبوب بود اینک بیوه گشته است! او که ملکهٔ شهرها بود اکنون برده شده است!

And it came to pass, after Israel was taken captive, and Jerusalem made desolate, [that] Jeremias sat weeping, and lamented [with] this lamentation over Jerusalem, and said, ALEPH. How does the city that was filled with people sit solitary! she is become as a widow: she that was magnified among the nations, [and] princess among the provinces, has become tributary.

2 اورشلیم تمام شب می‌گرید و قطره‌های اشک روی گونه‌هایش می‌غلتند. از میان یارانش یکی هم باقی نمانده که او را تسلی دهد. دوستانش به او خیانت کرده و همگی با او دشمن شده‌اند.

BETH. She weeps sore in the night, and her tears are on her cheeks; and there is none of all her lovers to comfort her: all that were her friends have dealt deceitfully with her, they are become her enemies.

3 مردم مصیبت‌زده و رنجدیدهٔ یهودا به اسارت رفته‌اند؛ به دیار غربت تبعید شده‌اند و اینک هیچ آسایش ندارند. دشمنان، آنها را احاطه نموده عرصه را بر آنها تنگ کرده‌اند.

GIMEL. Judea is gone into captivity by reason of her affliction, and by reason of the abundance of her servitude: she dwells among the nations, she has not found rest: all her pursuers have overtaken her between her oppressors.

4 راههای اورشلیم ماتم گرفته‌اند، زیرا دیگر مردم نمی‌آیند تا در روزهای عید عبادت کنند. دروازه‌های شهر ساکتند، کاهنانش آه می‌کشند و دوشیزگانش عزادارند. اورشلیم در اضطراب و تلخکامی فرو رفته است.

DALETH. The ways of Sion mourn, because there are none that come to the feast: all her gates are ruined: her priests groan, her virgins are led captive, and she is in bitterness in herself.

5 دشمنانش سَروَرِ او شده‌اند و خصمانش در آسایش‌اند. خداوند اورشلیم را برای گناهان بسیارش تنبیه کرده است. دشمنان، فرزندان او را اسیر کرده، به دیار غربت به بردگی برده‌اند.

HE. Her oppressors are become the head, and her enemies have prospered; for the Lord has afflicted her because of the multitude of her sins: her young children are gone into captivity before the face of the oppressor.

6 تمام شکوه و زیبایی اورشلیم از دست رفته است. بزرگانش مانند غزالهای گرسنه دنبال چراگاه می‌گردند و ناتوانتر از آنند که بتوانند از چنگ دشمن فرار کنند.

VAU. And all her beauty has been taken away from the daughter of Sion: her princes were as rams finding no pasture, and are gone [away] in weakness before the face of the pursuer.

7 اینک اورشلیم در میان مصیبتها، روزهای پرشکوه گذشته را به یاد می‌آورد. زمانی که او به محاصرهٔ دشمن درآمد، هیچ مدد کننده‌ای نداشت؛ دشمن او را مغلوب کرد و به شکست او خندید.

ZAIN. Jerusalem remembered the days of her affliction, and her rejection; [she thought on] all her desirable things which were from the days of old, when her people fell into the hands of the oppressor, and there was none to help her: when her enemies saw [it] they laughed at her habitation.

8 اورشلیم گناهان بسیاری مرتکب شده و ناپاک گردیده است. تمام کسانی که او را تکریم می‌کردند، اینک تحقیرش می‌کنند، زیرا برهنگی و خواری او را دیده‌اند. او می‌نالد و از شرم، چهرهٔ خود را می‌پوشاند.

HETH. Jerusalem has sinned a [great] sin; therefore has she come into tribulation, all that used to honour her have afflicted her, for they have seen her shame: yea, she herself groaned, and turned backward.

9 لکهٔ ننگی بر دامن اورشلیم بود، اما او اعتنایی نکرد؛ او به عاقبت خود نیاندیشید و ناگهان سقوط کرد. اینک کسی نیست که او را تسلی دهد. او فریاد برمی‌آورد، «خداوندا، به مصیبتم نگاه کن، زیرا دشمن بر من پیروز شده است.»

TETH. Her uncleanness is before her feet; she remembered not her last end; she has lowered her boasting [tone], there is none to comfort her. Behold, O Lord, my affliction: for the enemy has magnified himself.

10 دشمن، گنجینه‌های او را غارت کرد و قومهای بیگانه در برابر چشمانش به عبادتگاه مقدّسش داخل شدند، قومهایی که خدا ورود آنها را به عبادتگاهش قدغن کرده بود.

JOD. The oppressor has stretched out his hand on all her desirable things: for she has seen the Gentiles entering into her sanctuary, [concerning] whom thou didst command that they should not enter into thy congregation.

11 اهالی اورشلیم برای یک لقمه نان آه می‌کشند. هر چه داشتند برای خوراک دادند تا زنده بمانند. اورشلیم می‌گوید: «خداوندا، ببین چگونه خوار شده‌ام!

CHAPH. All her people groan, seeking bread: they have given their desirable things for meat, to restore their soul: behold, Lord, and look; for she is become dishonoured.

12 «ای کسانی که از کنارم می‌گذرید، چرا به من نگاه نمی‌کنید؟ نگاهی به من بیندازید و ببینید آیا غمی همچون غم من وجود دارد؟ ببینید خداوند به هنگام خشم خود به من چه کرده است!

LAMED. All ye that pass by the way, turn, and see if there is sorrow like to my sorrow, which has happened [to me]. The Lord who spoke by me has afflicted me in the day of his fierce anger.

13 «او از آسمان آتش فرستاد و تا مغز استخوان مرا سوزاند. سر راهم دام گسترد و مرا به زمین کوبید. او مرا در مصیبتم ترک گفت و در غمی بی‌پایان رهایم کرد.

MEM. He has sent fire from his lofty habitation, he has brought it into my bones: he has spread a net for my feet, he has turned me back: he has made me desolate [and] mourning all the day.

14 «گناهانم را به هم بافت و همچون طنابی بر گردنم انداخت و مرا زیر یوغ بردگی کشاند. تمام توانم را از من گرفت و مرا در چنگ دشمنانم که قویتر از من بودند رها کرد.

NUN. He has watched over my sins, they are twined about my hands, they have come up on my neck: my strength has failed; for the Lord has laid pains on my hands, I shall not be able to stand.

15 «خداوند تمام سربازان شجاع مرا از من گرفت. او لشکری بر ضد من فرا خواند تا جوانان مرا از بین ببرند. خداوند شهر محبوب خود را همچون انگور در چرخشت پایمال کرد.

SAMECH. The Lord has cut off all my strong men from the midst of me: he has summoned against me a time for crushing my choice men: the Lord has trodden a wine-press for the virgin daughter of Juda: for these things I weep.

16 «برای این مصیبتهاست که می‌گریم و قطره‌های اشک بر گونه‌هایم می‌غلتند. آن که به من دلداری می‌داد و جانم را تازه می‌ساخت از من دور شده است. دشمن بر من غالب آمده و فرزندانم بی‌کس شده‌اند.»

AIN. Mine eye has poured out water, because he that should comfort me, that should restore my soul, has been removed far from me: my sons have been destroyed, because the enemy has prevailed.

17 اورشلیم دستهای خود را دراز می‌کند و کمک می‌طلبد، اما کسی نیست که به دادش برسد. خداوند قومهای همسایه را بر ضد اسرائیل فرا خوانده است تا اورشلیم را همچون پارچه‌ای کثیف دور اندازند.

PHE. Sion has spread out her hand, [and] there is none to comfort her: the Lord has commanded [concerning] Jacob, his oppressors are round about him: Jerusalem has become among them as a removed woman.

18 «اما خداوند عادلانه حکم فرموده است، زیرا من از فرمان او سرپیچی کرده بودم. ای مردم جهان، اندوه مرا بنگرید و ببینید چگونه پسران و دخترانم را به اسیری برده‌اند.

TSADE. The Lord is righteous; for I have provoked his mouth: hear, I pray you, all people, and behold my grief: my virgins and my young men are gone into captivity.

19 «از یاران کمک خواستم، اما ایشان به من خیانت کردند. کاهنان و ریش‌سفیدان در حالی که به دنبال لقمه نانی بودند تا خود را زنده نگه دارند، در کوچه‌های شهر از شدت گرسنگی جان دادند.

KOPH. I called my lovers, but they deceived me: my priests and my elders failed in the city; for they sought meat that they might restore their souls, and found [it] not.

20 «ای خداوند، ببین چقدر پریشان و نگرانم! به خاطر گناهانی که انجام داده‌ام جانم در عذاب است. در خانه، بلای کشنده در انتظارم است و در بیرون، شمشیر مرگبار.

RHECHS. Behold, O Lord; for I am afflicted: my belly is troubled, and my heart is turned within me; for I have been grievously rebellious: abroad the sword has bereaved me, even as death at home.

21 «مردم ناله‌هایم را می‌شنوند، اما کسی به دادم نمی‌رسد. دشمنانم چون شنیدند چه بلایی بر سرم آوردی، شاد شدند. ای خداوند، به وعده‌ات وفا کن و بگذار دشمنانم نیز به بلای من دچار گردند.

CHSEN. Hear, I pray you, for I groan: there is none to comfort me: all mine enemies have heard [of] mine afflictions, and rejoice because thou hast done [it]: thou hast brought on the day, thou hast called the time: they are become like to me.

22 «به گناهان آنها نیز نظر کن و همان‌گونه که مرا برای گناهانم تنبیه کرده‌ای، آنان را نیز به سزای کردارشان برسان. ناله‌های من بسیار و دلم بی‌تاب است.»

THAU. Let all their wickedness come before thy face; and strip them, as they have made a gleaning for all my sins: for my groans are many, and my heart is grieved.
