Jeremias 15

1 Disse-me, porém, o Senhor: Ainda que Moysés e Samuel se pozessem diante de mim, não seria a minha alma com este povo: lança-os de diante da minha face, e saiam.

Then Yahweh said to me, “Even if Moses or Samuel were standing in front of me, I would still not be in favor of this people. Send them out from before me, for them to go away.

2 E será que, quando te disserem: Para onde sairemos? dir-lhes-has: Assim diz o Senhor: O que para a morte, para a morte; e o que para a espada, para a espada; e o que para a fome, para a fome; e o que para o captiveiro, para o captiveiro.

It will happen that they will say to you, 'Where should we go?' Then you must say to them, 'Yahweh says this: Those who are for death should go to death; those who are for the sword should go to the sword. Those who are for famine should go to famine; and those who are for captivity should go to captivity.'

3 Porque visital-os-hei com quatro generos de males, diz o Senhor: com espada para matar, e com cães, para os arrastarem, e com as aves dos céus, e com os animaes da terra, para os devorarem e destruirem.

For I will assign them to four groups—this is Yahweh's declaration—the sword to slaughter some, the dogs to drag some away, the birds of the skies and the beast of the earth to consume and destroy some.

4 Entregal-os-hei ao desterro em todos os reinos da terra; por causa de Manassés, filho d'Ezequias, rei de Judah, pelo que fez em Jerusalem.

I will make of them a horrifying thing to all the kingdoms of the earth, because of what Manasseh son of Hezekiah, king of Judah, did in Jerusalem.

5 Porque quem se compadeceria de ti, ó Jerusalem? ou quem se entristeceria por ti? ou quem se desviaria a perguntar pela tua paz?

For who will have compassion for you, Jerusalem? Who will grieve for you?

6 Tu me deixaste, diz o Senhor, e tornaste-te para traz; por isso estenderei a minha mão contra ti, e te destruirei; já estou cançado de me arrepender.

You have forsaken me—this is Yahweh's declaration—you have gone back from me. So I will strike you with my hand and destroy you. I am tired of having mercy on you.

7 E padejal-os-hei com a pá nas portas da terra: já desfilhei, e destrui o meu povo; não se tornaram dos seus caminhos.

So I will winnow them with a pitchfork at the gates of the land. I will bereave them. I will destroy my people since they will not turn from their ways.

8 As suas viuvas mais se me multiplicaram do que as areias dos mares; trouxe ao meio dia um destruidor sobre a mãe dos mancebos: fiz que caisse de repente sobre ella, e enchesse a cidade de terrores.

I will make their widows number more than the sands of the seashore. Against the mothers of young men I will send the destroyer at noonday. I will make shock and horror suddenly fall on them.

9 A que paria sete se enfraqueceu; expirou a sua alma; poz-se o seu sol sendo ainda de dia, confundiu-se, e envergonhou-se: e os que ficarem d'ella entregarei á espada, diante dos seus inimigos, diz o Senhor.

The mother who has borne seven children will waste away. She will gasp. Her sun will set while it is still day. She will be ashamed and embarrassed, for I will give those who remain to the sword in the presence of their enemies —this is Yahweh's declaration.”

10 Ai de mim, mãe minha, porque me pariste homem de rixa e homem de contendas para toda a terra? nunca lhes dei á usura, nem elles me deram a mim á usura, todavia cada um d'elles me amaldiçoa.

Woe to me, my mother! For you have borne me, I who am a man of controversy and argument through all the land. I have not lent, nor has anyone lent to me, but they all curse me.

11 Disse o Senhor: Decerto que os teus residuos serão para bem, que intercederei por ti, no tempo da calamidade e no tempo da angustia, com o inimigo.

Yahweh said: “Will I not rescue you for good? I will certainly make your enemies beg for help in the time of calamity and distress.

12 Porventura quebrará algum ferro, o ferro do norte, ou o aço?

Can one smash iron? Especially iron from the north that is mixed with bronze?

13 A tua fazenda e os teus thesouros darei sem preço ao saque; e isso por todos os teus peccados, como tambem em todos os teus limites.

I will give to your enemies your wealth and treasures as free plunder. I will do this because of all your sins committed within all your borders.

14 E levar-te-hei com os teus inimigos para a terra que não conheces; porque o fogo se accendeu em minha ira, e sobre vós arderá.

Then I will make you serve your enemies in a land that you do not know, for a fire will ignite, kindled in my wrath against you.”

15 Tu, ó Senhor, o sabes; lembra-te de mim, e visita-me, e vinga-me dos meus perseguidores: não me arrebates emquanto differes o teu furor: sabe que por amor de ti tenho soffrido affronta.

Yahweh, you know! Remember me and help me. Bring vengeance for me against those who persecute me. You are patient, but do not allow them to take me away; know that I suffer reproach for your sake.

16 Achando-se as tuas palavras, logo as comi, e a tua palavra foi para mim o gozo e alegria do meu coração; porque pelo teu nome me chamo, ó Senhor, Deus dos Exercitos.

Your words have been found, and I consumed them. Your words became to me a joy and the delight of my heart, for I bear your name, Yahweh, God of hosts.

17 Nunca me assentei no congresso dos zombadores, nem saltei de prazer: por causa da tua mão me assentei solitario; porque me encheste de indignação.

I did not sit in the circle of those who celebrated or rejoiced. I sat in solitude because of your powerful hand, for you filled me with indignation.

18 Porque dura a minha dôr continuamente, e a minha ferida me doe, e já não admitte cura? Porventura ser-me-hias tu como um mentiroso e como aguas inconstantes?

Why is my pain ongoing and my wound incurable, refusing to be healed? Will you be like deceitful waters to me, waters that dry up?

19 Portanto assim diz o Senhor: Se tu te tornares, então te farei tornar, e estarás diante da minha face; e se apartares o precioso do vil, serás como a minha bocca: tornem-se elles para ti, porém tu não te tornes para elles.

Therefore Yahweh said this, “If you repent, Jeremiah, then I will restore you, and you will stand before me and serve me. For if you separate the foolish things from the precious things, you will be like my mouth. The people will come back to you, but you yourself must not go back to them.

20 Portanto puz-te contra este povo por um muro forte de bronze; e pelejarão contra ti, porém não prevalecerão contra ti; porque eu estou comtigo para te guardar, para te arrebatar d'elles, diz o Senhor.

I will make you like an impenetrable bronze wall to this people, and they will wage war against you. But they will not defeat you, for I am with you to save and rescue you—this is Yahweh's declaration—

21 E arrebatar-te-hei da mão dos malignos, e livrar-te-hei da palma dos fortes.

for I will rescue you from the hand of the wicked and redeem you from the hand of the tyrant.”
