Provérbios 21
1 Como ribeiros de águas, assim é o coração do rei na mão do Senhor; a tudo quanto quer o inclina.
The king's heart is in the LORD's hand like the watercourses. He turns it wherever he desires.
2 Todo o caminho do homem é reto aos seus olhos, mas o Senhor pondera os corações.
Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but the LORD weighs the hearts.
3 Fazer justiça e juízo é mais aceito ao Senhor do que lhe oferecer sacrifício.
To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.
4 Altivez dos olhos, e inchação de coração, e a lavoura dos ímpios é pecado.
A high look, and a proud heart, the lamp of the wicked, is sin.
5 Os pensamentos do diligente tendem só à abundância, porém os de todo o apressado tão somente à pobreza.
The plans of the diligent surely lead to profit; and everyone who is hasty surely rushes to poverty.
6 Trabalhar por ajuntar tesouro com língua falsa é uma vaidade impelida daqueles que buscam a morte.
Getting treasures by a lying tongue is a fleeting vapor for those who seek death.
7 As rapinas dos ímpios os virão a destruir, porquanto recusam fazer a justiça.
The violence of the wicked will drive them away, because they refuse to do what is right.
8 O caminho do homem é todo perverso e estranho, porém a obra do puro é reta.
The way of the guilty is devious, but the conduct of the innocent is upright.
9 Melhor é morar num canto do terraço, do que com a mulher contenciosa, e isso em casa em que mais companhia haja.
It is better to dwell in the corner of the housetop, than to share a house with a contentious woman.
10 A alma do ímpio deseja o mal: o seu próximo lhe não agrada aos seus olhos.
The soul of the wicked desires evil; his neighbor finds no mercy in his eyes.
11 Castigado o escarnecedor, o simples se torna sábio; e, ensinado o sábio, recebe o conhecimento.
When the mocker is punished, the simple gains wisdom. When the wise is instructed, he receives knowledge.
12 Prudentemente considera o justo a casa do ímpio, quando Deus transtorna os ímpios para o mal.
The Righteous One considers the house of the wicked, and brings the wicked to ruin.
13 O que tapa o seu ouvido ao clamor do pobre ele também clamará e não será ouvido.
Whoever stops his ears at the cry of the poor, he will also cry out, but shall not be heard.
14 O presente que se dá em segredo abate a ira, e a dádiva no seio a grande indignação.
A gift in secret pacifies anger; and a bribe in the cloak, strong wrath.
15 O fazer justiça é alegria para o justo, mas espanto para os que obram a iniquidade.
It is joy to the righteous to do justice; but it is a destruction to evildoers.
16 O homem, que anda errado do caminho do entendimento, na congregação dos mortos repousará.
The man who wanders out of the way of understanding shall rest in the assembly of the dead.
17 Necessidade padecerá o que ama a galhofa: o que ama o vinho e o azeite nunca enriquecerá.
He who loves pleasure shall be a poor man. He who loves wine and oil shall not be rich.
18 O resgate do justo é o ímpio; o do reto o iníquo.
The wicked is a ransom for the righteous; the treacherous for the upright.
19 Melhor é morar numa terra deserta do que com a mulher contenciosa e iracunda.
It is better to dwell in a desert land, than with a contentious and fretful woman.
20 Tesouro desejável e azeite há na casa do sábio, mas o homem insensato o devora.
There is precious treasure and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man swallows it up.
21 O que segue a justiça e a beneficência achará a vida, a justiça e a honra.
He who follows after righteousness and kindness finds life, righteousness, and honor.
22 Á cidade dos fortes sobe o sábio, e derruba a força da sua confiança.
A wise man scales the city of the mighty, and brings down the strength of its confidence.
23 O que guarda a sua boca e a sua língua, guarda das angústias a sua alma.
Whoever guards his mouth and his tongue keeps his soul from troubles.
24 O soberbo e presumido, zombador é seu nome: trata com indignação e soberba.
The proud and haughty man, "scoffer" is his name; he works in the arrogance of pride.
25 O desejo do preguiçoso o mata, porque as suas mãos recusam trabalhar.
The desire of the sluggard kills him, for his hands refuse to labor.
26 Todo o dia deseja coisas de cobiçar, mas o justo dá, e nada retém.
There are those who covet greedily all day long; but the righteous give and do not withhold.
27 O sacrifício dos ímpios é abominação: quanto mais oferecendo-o com intenção maligna?
The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination: how much more, when he brings it with a wicked mind.
28 A testemunha mentirosa perecerá, porém o homem que ouve com constância falará.
A false witness will perish, and a man who listens speaks to eternity.
29 O homem ímpio endurece o seu rosto, mas o reto considera o seu caminho.
A wicked man hardens his face; but as for the upright, he establishes his ways.
30 Não há sabedoria, nem inteligência, nem conselho contra o Senhor.
There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.
31 O cavalo prepara-se para o dia da batalha, porém do Senhor vem a vitória.
The horse is prepared for the day of battle; but victory is with the LORD.
