Efeseni 2

1 Voi ați fost înviați, când erați morți în fărădelegi și păcate,

And you hath he made alive who were dead in trespasses and sins,

2 în care umblați odinioară, după cursul acestei lumi, după prințul puterii aerului, duhul care lucrează acum în copiii neascultătorilor. (aiōn g165)

in which ye formerly walked after the manner of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that still operates in the children of disobedience: (aiōn g165)

3 Și noi toți am trăit odinioară printre ei în poftele cărnii noastre, împlinind poftele cărnii și ale minții, și eram din fire copii ai mâniei, ca și ceilalți.

among whom also we were all conversant heretofore in our carnal desires, indulging the appetites of the flesh and of our imaginations; and were by nature children of wrath, even as others.

4 Dar Dumnezeu, fiind bogat în îndurare, pentru marea Sa dragoste cu care ne-a iubit,

But God being rich in mercy, through his great love wherewith He loved us,

5 chiar și atunci când eram morți din cauza greșelilor noastre, ne-a făcut vii împreună cu Hristos — prin har ați fost mântuiți —

hath made us alive in Christ, even when we were dead in trespasses, (for by grace ye are saved) and hath raised us up together,

6 și ne-a înviat împreună cu El și ne-a făcut să ședem cu El în locurile cerești în Hristos Isus,

and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.

7 pentru ca în veacurile viitoare să arate bogăția nespus de mare a harului Său în bunătatea Sa față de noi în Hristos Isus; (aiōn g165)

That in the ages to come He might shew the superabundant riches of his grace, in his kindness towards us through Christ Jesus. (aiōn g165)

8 căci prin har ați fost mântuiți prin credință, și aceasta nu de la voi înșivă; este un dar al lui Dumnezeu,

For by grace ye are saved, through faith: and this not of yourselves; it is the gift of God: not by works, that no one may boast:

9 nu prin fapte, ca nimeni să nu se laude.

for we are his workmanship,

10 Căci noi suntem lucrarea Lui, creați în Hristos Isus pentru fapte bune, pe care Dumnezeu le-a pregătit mai dinainte ca noi să umblăm în ele.

created in Christ Jesus unto good works, for which God before prepared us, that we might walk in them.

11 Aduceți-vă aminte că odinioară, voi, neamurile în trup, care sunteți numiți “netăiați împrejur” prin ceea ce se numește “tăierea împrejur” (în trup, făcută de mâini),

Wherefore remember that ye were formerly Gentiles in the flesh, called uncircumcision by that which is called circumcision made by hands in the flesh;

12 erați în vremea aceea despărțiți de Hristos, înstrăinați de comunitatea lui Israel și străini de legămintele făgăduinței, fără nădejde și fără Dumnezeu în lume.

and ye were at that time without Christ, aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: but now in Christ Jesus,

13 Dar acum, în Hristos Isus, voi, care altădată erați departe, ați fost apropiați prin sângele lui Hristos.

ye, who were formerly afar off, are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

14 Căci el este pacea noastră, care i-a făcut pe amândoi una și a dărâmat zidul de mijloc al despărțirii,

For He is our peace, who hath made both one, and removed the wall of partition from between us;

15 după ce a desființat în trupul său ostilitatea, legea poruncilor cuprinse în rânduieli, ca să creeze în sine un singur om nou din cei doi, făcând pace,

having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances, that He might form the two into one new man, in Himself, so making peace;

16 și să-i împace pe amândoi într-un singur trup cu Dumnezeu prin cruce, după ce a ucis prin ea ostilitatea.

and that He might reconcile both in one body unto God, by the cross, having thereby slain the enmity:

17 El a venit și a propovăduit pacea atât vouă, care erați departe, cât și celor apropiați.

and He came and preached peace to you that were afar off, and to them that were nigh.

18 Căci prin el amândoi avem acces la Tatăl într-un singur Duh.

For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father.

19 Așadar, voi nu mai sunteți străini și străini, ci sunteți concetățeni ai sfinților și ai casei lui Dumnezeu,

Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow-citizens with the saints, and of the houshold of God;

20 fiind zidiți pe temelia apostolilor și a profeților, piatra unghiulară principală fiind Cristos Isus însuși;

being built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner-stone:

21 în care toată clădirea, bine închegată, se dezvoltă într-un templu sfânt în Domnul;

in whom the whole building fitly joined together increaseth to an holy temple in the Lord:

22 în care și voi sunteți zidiți împreună pentru a fi locuința lui Dumnezeu în Duhul Sfânt.

in whom ye also are built up together for an habitation of God by the Spirit.
