੧ ਕਰਿਨ੍ਥਿਨਃ 9
1 ਅਹੰ ਕਿਮ੍ ਏਕਃ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਤੋ ਨਾਸ੍ਮਿ? ਕਿਮਹੰ ਸ੍ਵਤਨ੍ਤ੍ਰੋ ਨਾਸ੍ਮਿ? ਅਸ੍ਮਾਕੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਰ੍ਯੀਸ਼ੁਃ ਖ੍ਰੀਸ਼਼੍ਟਃ ਕਿੰ ਮਯਾ ਨਾਦਰ੍ਸ਼ਿ? ਯੂਯਮਪਿ ਕਿੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੁਨਾ ਮਦੀਯਸ਼੍ਰਮਫਲਸ੍ਵਰੂਪਾ ਨ ਭਵਥ?
Am not free? Am I not an apostle? Jesus our Lord, have I not seen? Are not, ye, my work, in the Lord?
2 ਅਨ੍ਯਲੋਕਾਨਾਂ ਕ੍ਰੁʼਤੇ ਯਦ੍ਯਪ੍ਯਹੰ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਤੋ ਨ ਭਵੇਯੰ ਤਥਾਚ ਯੁਸ਼਼੍ਮਤ੍ਕ੍ਰੁʼਤੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਤੋ(ਅ)ਸ੍ਮਿ ਯਤਃ ਪ੍ਰਭੁਨਾ ਮਮ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਤਤ੍ਵਪਦਸ੍ਯ ਮੁਦ੍ਰਾਸ੍ਵਰੂਪਾ ਯੂਯਮੇਵਾਧ੍ਵੇ|
If, unto others, I am not an apostle, certainly at least, unto you, I am; for, the seal of my apostleship, ye, are in the Lord.
3 ਯੇ ਲੋਕਾ ਮਯਿ ਦੋਸ਼਼ਮਾਰੋਪਯਨ੍ਤਿ ਤਾਨ੍ ਪ੍ਰਤਿ ਮਮ ਪ੍ਰਤ੍ਯੁੱਤਰਮੇਤਤ੍|
My defence, unto them who are examining me, is this:
4 ਭੋਜਨਪਾਨਯੋਃ ਕਿਮਸ੍ਮਾਕੰ ਕ੍ਸ਼਼ਮਤਾ ਨਾਸ੍ਤਿ?
Have we not a right to eat and drink?
5 ਅਨ੍ਯੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਤਾਃ ਪ੍ਰਭੋ ਰ੍ਭ੍ਰਾਤਰੌ ਕੈਫਾਸ਼੍ਚ ਯਤ੍ ਕੁਰ੍ੱਵਨ੍ਤਿ ਤਦ੍ਵਤ੍ ਕਾਞ੍ਚਿਤ੍ ਧਰ੍ੰਮਭਗਿਨੀਂ ਵ੍ਯੂਹ੍ਯ ਤਯਾ ਸਾਰ੍ੱਧੰ ਪਰ੍ੱਯਟਿਤੁੰ ਵਯੰ ਕਿੰ ਨ ਸ਼ਕ੍ਨੁਮਃ?
Have we not a right to take round, a sister wife, —as even the rest of the apostles, and the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas?
6 ਸਾਂਸਾਰਿਕਸ਼੍ਰਮਸ੍ਯ ਪਰਿਤ੍ਯਾਗਾਤ੍ ਕਿੰ ਕੇਵਲਮਹੰ ਬਰ੍ਣੱਬਾਸ਼੍ਚ ਨਿਵਾਰਿਤੌ?
Or have, only I and Barnabas, not a right to forbear working?
7 ਨਿਜਧਨਵ੍ਯਯੇਨ ਕਃ ਸੰਗ੍ਰਾਮੰ ਕਰੋਤਿ? ਕੋ ਵਾ ਦ੍ਰਾਕ੍ਸ਼਼ਾਕ੍ਸ਼਼ੇਤ੍ਰੰ ਕ੍ਰੁʼਤ੍ਵਾ ਤਤ੍ਫਲਾਨਿ ਨ ਭੁਙ੍ਕ੍ਤੇ? ਕੋ ਵਾ ਪਸ਼ੁਵ੍ਰਜੰ ਪਾਲਯਨ੍ ਤਤ੍ਪਯੋ ਨ ਪਿਵਤਿ?
Who serveth as a soldier, at his own charges, at any time? Who planteth a vineyard, —and, the fruit thereof, doth not eat? [Or] who shepherdeth a flock, —and, of the milk of the flock, doth not eat?
8 ਕਿਮਹੰ ਕੇਵਲਾਂ ਮਾਨੁਸ਼਼ਿਕਾਂ ਵਾਚੰ ਵਦਾਮਿ? ਵ੍ਯਵਸ੍ਥਾਯਾਂ ਕਿਮੇਤਾਦ੍ਰੁʼਸ਼ੰ ਵਚਨੰ ਨ ਵਿਦ੍ਯਤੇ?
Is it, after the manner of men, that these things I am saying? Or doth not, even the law, the same things, say?
9 ਮੂਸਾਵ੍ਯਵਸ੍ਥਾਗ੍ਰਨ੍ਥੇ ਲਿਖਿਤਮਾਸ੍ਤੇ, ਤ੍ਵੰ ਸ਼ਸ੍ਯਮਰ੍ੱਦਕਵ੍ਰੁʼਸ਼਼ਸ੍ਯਾਸ੍ਯੰ ਨ ਭੰਤ੍ਸ੍ਯਸੀਤਿ| ਈਸ਼੍ਵਰੇਣ ਬਲੀਵਰ੍ੱਦਾਨਾਮੇਵ ਚਿਨ੍ਤਾ ਕਿੰ ਕ੍ਰਿਯਤੇ?
For, in the law of Moses, it is written—Thou shalt not muzzle an ox when it is treading out the corn: —Is it, for the oxen, God is caring?
10 ਕਿੰ ਵਾ ਸਰ੍ੱਵਥਾਸ੍ਮਾਕੰ ਕ੍ਰੁʼਤੇ ਤਦ੍ਵਚਨੰ ਤੇਨੋਕ੍ਤੰ? ਅਸ੍ਮਾਕਮੇਵ ਕ੍ਰੁʼਤੇ ਤੱਲਿਖਿਤੰ| ਯਃ ਕ੍ਸ਼਼ੇਤ੍ਰੰ ਕਰ੍ਸ਼਼ਤਿ ਤੇਨ ਪ੍ਰਤ੍ਯਾਸ਼ਾਯੁਕ੍ਤੇਨ ਕਰ੍ਸ਼਼੍ਟਵ੍ਯੰ, ਯਸ਼੍ਚ ਸ਼ਸ੍ਯਾਨਿ ਮਰ੍ੱਦਯਤਿ ਤੇਨ ਲਾਭਪ੍ਰਤ੍ਯਾਸ਼ਾਯੁਕ੍ਤੇਨ ਮਰ੍ੱਦਿਤਵ੍ਯੰ|
Or, for our sakes altogether, is he saying it? For our sakes, it was written; because, he that ploweth, ought, to plow, in hope, —and, he that thresheth, [to thresh] in hope of partaking.
11 ਯੁਸ਼਼੍ਮਤ੍ਕ੍ਰੁʼਤੇ(ਅ)ਸ੍ਮਾਭਿਃ ਪਾਰਤ੍ਰਿਕਾਣਿ ਬੀਜਾਨਿ ਰੋਪਿਤਾਨਿ, ਅਤੋ ਯੁਸ਼਼੍ਮਾਕਮੈਹਿਕਫਲਾਨਾਂ ਵਯਮ੍ ਅੰਸ਼ਿਨੋ ਭਵਿਸ਼਼੍ਯਾਮਃ ਕਿਮੇਤਤ੍ ਮਹਤ੍ ਕਰ੍ੰਮ?
If, we, unto you, the things of the Spirit have sown, is it a great matter, if, we, of you, the things of the flesh shall reap?
12 ਯੁਸ਼਼੍ਮਾਸੁ ਯੋ(ਅ)ਧਿਕਾਰਸ੍ਤਸ੍ਯ ਭਾਗਿਨੋ ਯਦ੍ਯਨ੍ਯੇ ਭਵੇਯੁਸ੍ਤਰ੍ਹ੍ਯਸ੍ਮਾਭਿਸ੍ਤਤੋ(ਅ)ਧਿਕੰ ਕਿੰ ਤਸ੍ਯ ਭਾਗਿਭਿ ਰ੍ਨ ਭਵਿਤਵ੍ਯੰ? ਅਧਿਕਨ੍ਤੁ ਵਯੰ ਤੇਨਾਧਿਕਾਰੇਣ ਨ ਵ੍ਯਵਹ੍ਰੁʼਤਵਨ੍ਤਃ ਕਿਨ੍ਤੁ ਖ੍ਰੀਸ਼਼੍ਟੀਯਸੁਸੰਵਾਦਸ੍ਯ ਕੋ(ਅ)ਪਿ ਵ੍ਯਾਘਾਤੋ(ਅ)ਸ੍ਮਾਭਿਰ੍ਯੰਨ ਜਾਯੇਤ ਤਦਰ੍ਥੰ ਸਰ੍ੱਵੰ ਸਹਾਮਹੇ|
If, others, of this right, over you, are partaking, [should] not rather, we? nevertheless, we used not this right; but, all [such] things, do we conceal, —lest we should cause any hindrance unto the glad message of the Christ.
13 ਅਪਰੰ ਯੇ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰਵਸ੍ਤੂਨਾਂ ਪਰਿਚਰ੍ੱਯਾਂ ਕੁਰ੍ੱਵਨ੍ਤਿ ਤੇ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰਵਸ੍ਤੁਤੋ ਭਕ੍ਸ਼਼੍ਯਾਣਿ ਲਭਨ੍ਤੇ, ਯੇ ਚ ਵੇਦ੍ਯਾਃ ਪਰਿਚਰ੍ੱਯਾਂ ਕੁਰ੍ੱਵਨ੍ਤਿ ਤੇ ਵੇਦਿਸ੍ਥਵਸ੍ਤੂਨਾਮ੍ ਅੰਸ਼ਿਨੋ ਭਵਨ੍ਤ੍ਯੇਤਦ੍ ਯੂਯੰ ਕਿੰ ਨ ਵਿਦ?
Know ye not that, they who labour in the holy rites, do eat the provisions out of the holy place? They who at the altar wait, do, with the altar, share?
14 ਤਦ੍ਵਦ੍ ਯੇ ਸੁਸੰਵਾਦੰ ਘੋਸ਼਼ਯਨ੍ਤਿ ਤੈਃ ਸੁਸੰਵਾਦੇਨ ਜੀਵਿਤਵ੍ਯਮਿਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁਨਾਦਿਸ਼਼੍ਟੰ|
Thus, also, hath the Lord, appointed—that, they who the glad message tell, should, of the glad-message, live.
15 ਅਹਮੇਤੇਸ਼਼ਾਂ ਸਰ੍ੱਵੇਸ਼਼ਾਂ ਕਿਮਪਿ ਨਾਸ਼੍ਰਿਤਵਾਨ੍ ਮਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਤਿ ਤਦਨੁਸਾਰਾਤ੍ ਆਚਰਿਤਵ੍ਯਮਿਤ੍ਯਾਸ਼ਯੇਨਾਪਿ ਪਤ੍ਰਮਿਦੰ ਮਯਾ ਨ ਲਿਖ੍ਯਤੇ ਯਤਃ ਕੇਨਾਪਿ ਜਨੇਨ ਮਮ ਯਸ਼ਸੋ ਮੁਧਾਕਰਣਾਤ੍ ਮਮ ਮਰਣੰ ਵਰੰ|
I, however, have not used any of these things; and have not written these things, in order that, so it should be done, in my case; for it were, good for me, rather to die than——my boast, shall, no man, make void!
16 ਸੁਸੰਵਾਦਘੇਸ਼਼ਣਾਤ੍ ਮਮ ਯਸ਼ੋ ਨ ਜਾਯਤੇ ਯਤਸ੍ਤਦ੍ਘੋਸ਼਼ਣੰ ਮਮਾਵਸ਼੍ਯਕੰ ਯਦ੍ਯਹੰ ਸੁਸੰਵਾਦੰ ਨ ਘੋਸ਼਼ਯੇਯੰ ਤਰ੍ਹਿ ਮਾਂ ਧਿਕ੍|
For, if I be telling the glad-message, it is, with me, no matter of boasting; for, necessity, upon me, lieth, —for it is, Woe to me, if I should not be telling the glad-message;
17 ਇੱਛੁਕੇਨ ਤਤ੍ ਕੁਰ੍ੱਵਤਾ ਮਯਾ ਫਲੰ ਲਪ੍ਸ੍ਯਤੇ ਕਿਨ੍ਤ੍ਵਨਿੱਛੁਕੇ(ਅ)ਪਿ ਮਯਿ ਤਤ੍ਕਰ੍ੰਮਣੋ ਭਾਰੋ(ਅ)ਰ੍ਪਿਤੋ(ਅ)ਸ੍ਤਿ|
For, if, by choice, this thing I am doing, I have, a reward; but, if not by choice, with a stewardship, have I been entrusted!
18 ਏਤੇਨ ਮਯਾ ਲਭ੍ਯੰ ਫਲੰ ਕਿੰ? ਸੁਸੰਵਾਦੇਨ ਮਮ ਯੋ(ਅ)ਧਿਕਾਰ ਆਸ੍ਤੇ ਤੰ ਯਦਭਦ੍ਰਭਾਵੇਨ ਨਾਚਰੇਯੰ ਤਦਰ੍ਥੰ ਸੁਸੰਵਾਦਘੋਸ਼਼ਣਸਮਯੇ ਤਸ੍ਯ ਖ੍ਰੀਸ਼਼੍ਟੀਯਸੁਸੰਵਾਦਸ੍ਯ ਨਿਰ੍ਵ੍ਯਯੀਕਰਣਮੇਵ ਮਮ ਫਲੰ|
What, then, is my reward? that, in telling the glad-message, free of cost, I should put the glad-message, —to the end I should not use to the full my right in the glad-message.
19 ਸਰ੍ੱਵੇਸ਼਼ਾਮ੍ ਅਨਾਯੱਤੋ(ਅ)ਹੰ ਯਦ੍ ਭੂਰਿਸ਼ੋ ਲੋਕਾਨ੍ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਦ੍ਯੇ ਤਦਰ੍ਥੰ ਸਰ੍ੱਵੇਸ਼਼ਾਂ ਦਾਸਤ੍ਵਮਙ੍ਗੀਕ੍ਰੁʼਤਵਾਨ੍|
For, though free from all, unto all, myself, I enslaved, —that, the larger number, I might win:
20 ਯਿਹੂਦੀਯਾਨ੍ ਯਤ੍ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਦ੍ਯੇ ਤਦਰ੍ਥੰ ਯਿਹੂਦੀਯਾਨਾਂ ਕ੍ਰੁʼਤੇ ਯਿਹੂਦੀਯਇਵਾਭਵੰ| ਯੇ ਚ ਵ੍ਯਵਸ੍ਥਾਯੱਤਾਸ੍ਤਾਨ੍ ਯਤ੍ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਦ੍ਯੇ ਤਦਰ੍ਥੰ ਵ੍ਯਵਸ੍ਥਾਨਾਯੱਤੋ ਯੋ(ਅ)ਹੰ ਸੋ(ਅ)ਹੰ ਵ੍ਯਵਸ੍ਥਾਯੱਤਾਨਾਂ ਕ੍ਰੁʼਤੇ ਵ੍ਯਵਸ੍ਥਾਯੱਤਇਵਾਭਵੰ|
Therefore became I, to the Jews, as, a Jew, —that, Jews, I might win; to them who were under law, as, under law, not being, myself, under law, —that, them who were under law, I might win;
21 ਯੇ ਚਾਲਬ੍ਧਵ੍ਯਵਸ੍ਥਾਸ੍ਤਾਨ੍ ਯਤ੍ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਦ੍ਯੇ ਤਦਰ੍ਥਮ੍ ਈਸ਼੍ਵਰਸ੍ਯ ਸਾਕ੍ਸ਼਼ਾਦ੍ ਅਲਬ੍ਧਵ੍ਯਵਸ੍ਥੋ ਨ ਭੂਤ੍ਵਾ ਖ੍ਰੀਸ਼਼੍ਟੇਨ ਲਬ੍ਧਵ੍ਯਵਸ੍ਥੋ ਯੋ(ਅ)ਹੰ ਸੋ(ਅ)ਹਮ੍ ਅਲਬ੍ਧਵ੍ਯਵਸ੍ਥਾਨਾਂ ਕ੍ਰੁʼਤੇ(ਅ)ਲਬ੍ਧਵ੍ਯਵਸ੍ਥ ਇਵਾਭਵੰ|
To them who were without law, as, without law, —not being without law to God, but lawfully subject to Christ, —that I might win them who were without law.
22 ਦੁਰ੍ੱਬਲਾਨ੍ ਯਤ੍ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਦ੍ਯੇ ਤਦਰ੍ਥਮਹੰ ਦੁਰ੍ੱਬਲਾਨਾਂ ਕ੍ਰੁʼਤੇ ਦੁਰ੍ੱਬਲਇਵਾਭਵੰ| ਇੱਥੰ ਕੇਨਾਪਿ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰੇਣ ਕਤਿਪਯਾ ਲੋਕਾ ਯਨ੍ਮਯਾ ਪਰਿਤ੍ਰਾਣੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪ੍ਨੁਯੁਸ੍ਤਦਰ੍ਥੰ ਯੋ ਯਾਦ੍ਰੁʼਸ਼ ਆਸੀਤ੍ ਤਸ੍ਯ ਕ੍ਰੁʼਤੇ (ਅ)ਹੰ ਤਾਦ੍ਰੁʼਸ਼ਇਵਾਭਵੰ|
I became, unto the weak, weak, —that, the weak, I might win; —to all men, have I become all things, that, by all means, some, I might save.
23 ਇਦ੍ਰੁʼਸ਼ ਆਚਾਰਃ ਸੁਸੰਵਾਦਾਰ੍ਥੰ ਮਯਾ ਕ੍ਰਿਯਤੇ ਯਤੋ(ਅ)ਹੰ ਤਸ੍ਯ ਫਲਾਨਾਂ ਸਹਭਾਗੀ ਭਵਿਤੁਮਿੱਛਾਮਿ|
But, all things, am I doing, for the sake of the glad-message, that a joint-partaker thereof, I may become.
24 ਪਣ੍ਯਲਾਭਾਰ੍ਥੰ ਯੇ ਧਾਵਨ੍ਤਿ ਧਾਵਤਾਂ ਤੇਸ਼਼ਾਂ ਸਰ੍ੱਵੇਸ਼਼ਾਂ ਕੇਵਲ ਏਕਃ ਪਣ੍ਯੰ ਲਭਤੇ ਯੁਸ਼਼੍ਮਾਭਿਃ ਕਿਮੇਤੰਨ ਜ੍ਞਾਯਤੇ? ਅਤੋ ਯੂਯੰ ਯਥਾ ਪਣ੍ਯੰ ਲਪ੍ਸ੍ਯਧ੍ਵੇ ਤਥੈਵ ਧਾਵਤ|
Know ye not that, they who, in a racecourse, run, all, indeed, run, —but, one, receiveth the prize? So, be running, that ye may lay hold.
25 ਮੱਲਾ ਅਪਿ ਸਰ੍ੱਵਭੋਗੇ ਪਰਿਮਿਤਭੋਗਿਨੋ ਭਵਨ੍ਤਿ ਤੇ ਤੁ ਮ੍ਲਾਨਾਂ ਸ੍ਰਜੰ ਲਿਪ੍ਸਨ੍ਤੇ ਕਿਨ੍ਤੁ ਵਯਮ੍ ਅਮ੍ਲਾਨਾਂ ਲਿਪ੍ਸਾਮਹੇ|
But, every man who striveth in the games, in all things, useth self-control; —they, indeed, then, that a corruptible crown, they may receive; but, we, an incorruptible!
26 ਤਸ੍ਮਾਦ੍ ਅਹਮਪਿ ਧਾਵਾਮਿ ਕਿਨ੍ਤੁ ਲਕ੍ਸ਼਼੍ਯਮਨੁੱਦਿਸ਼੍ਯ ਧਾਵਾਮਿ ਤੰਨਹਿ| ਅਹੰ ਮੱਲਇਵ ਯੁਧ੍ਯਾਮਿ ਚ ਕਿਨ੍ਤੁ ਛਾਯਾਮਾਘਾਤਯੰਨਿਵ ਯੁਧ੍ਯਾਮਿ ਤੰਨਹਿ|
I, therefore, so, am running, as, not uncertainly, so, am boxing, as not thrashing air;
27 ਇਤਰਾਨ੍ ਪ੍ਰਤਿ ਸੁਸੰਵਾਦੰ ਘੋਸ਼਼ਯਿਤ੍ਵਾਹੰ ਯਤ੍ ਸ੍ਵਯਮਗ੍ਰਾਹ੍ਯੋ ਨ ਭਵਾਮਿ ਤਦਰ੍ਥੰ ਦੇਹਮ੍ ਆਹਨ੍ਮਿ ਵਸ਼ੀਕੁਰ੍ੱਵੇ ਚ|
But am beating my body under, and leading it captive, lest, by any means, —unto others, having proclaimed, [the contest], I myself, should be rejected.
