1 Samuel 7

1 Los hombres de Quiriat Jearim vinieron y tomaron el arca de Yahvé, y la llevaron a la casa de Abinadab en la colina, y consagraron a Eleazar, su hijo, para que guardara el arca de Yahvé.

And the men of Kirjath-jearim came, and brought up the ark of the LORD, and brought it into the house of Abinadab on the hill, and sanctified Eleazar his son to keep the ark of the LORD.

2 Desde el día en que el arca permaneció en Quiriat Jearim, el tiempo se prolongó, pues fueron veinte años; y toda la casa de Israel se lamentaba en pos de Yahvé.

And it came to pass, while the ark abode in Kirjath-jearim, that the time was long; for it was twenty years: and all the house of Israel lamented after the LORD.

3 Samuel habló a toda la casa de Israel, diciendo: “Si volvéis a Yahvé de todo corazón, quitad de en medio los dioses extranjeros y el Astarot, y dirigid vuestro corazón a Yahvé, y servidle sólo a él; y él os librará de la mano de los filisteos.”

And Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying, If ye do return to the LORD with all your hearts, [then] put away the strange gods, and Ashtaroth, from among you, and prepare your hearts to the LORD, and serve him only: and he will deliver you from the hand of the Philistines.

4 Entonces los hijos de Israel eliminaron a los baales y a Astarot, y sólo sirvieron a Yahvé.

Then the children of Israel put away Baalim, and Ashtaroth, and served the LORD only.

5 Samuel dijo: “Reúnan a todo Israel en Mizpa, y yo oraré a Yahvé por ustedes.”

And Samuel said, Gather all Israel to Mizpeh, and I will pray for you to the LORD.

6 Se reunieron en Mizpa, sacaron agua y la derramaron ante Yahvé, y ese día ayunaron y dijeron allí: “Hemos pecado contra Yahvé.” Samuel juzgó a los hijos de Israel en Mizpa.

And they assembled at Mizpeh, and drew water, and poured [it] out before the LORD, and fasted on that day, and there said, We have sinned against the LORD. And Samuel judged the children of Israel in Mizpeh.

7 Cuando los filisteos oyeron que los hijos de Israel estaban reunidos en Mizpa, los señores de los filisteos subieron contra Israel. Cuando los hijos de Israel lo oyeron, tuvieron miedo de los filisteos.

And when the Philistines heard that the children of Israel were assembled at Mizpeh, the lords of the Philistines went up against Israel. And when the children of Israel heard [it], they were afraid of the Philistines.

8 Los hijos de Israel dijeron a Samuel: “No dejes de clamar por nosotros a Yahvé, nuestro Dios, para que nos salve de la mano de los filisteos.”

And the children of Israel said to Samuel, Cease not to cry to the LORD our God for us, that he will save us from the hand of the Philistines.

9 Samuel tomó un cordero lechal y lo ofreció en holocausto a Yahvé. Samuel clamó a Yahvé por Israel, y Yahvé le respondió.

And Samuel took a sucking lamb, and offered [it for] a burnt-offering wholly to the LORD: and Samuel cried to the LORD for Israel; and the LORD heard him.

10 Mientras Samuel ofrecía el holocausto, los filisteos se acercaron para combatir contra Israel; pero aquel día Yahvé tronó con gran estruendo sobre los filisteos y los confundió, y fueron derribados ante Israel.

And as Samuel was offering the burnt-offering, the Philistines drew near to battle against Israel: but the LORD thundered with a great thunder on that day upon the Philistines, and discomfited them; and they were smitten before Israel.

11 Los hombres de Israel salieron de Mizpa y persiguieron a los filisteos, y los golpearon hasta que llegaron debajo de Bet Kar.

And the men of Israel went out of Mizpeh, and pursued the Philistines, and smote them, until [they came] under Beth-car.

12 Entonces Samuel tomó una piedra y la puso entre Mizpa y Shen, y la llamó Ebenezer, diciendo: “El Señor nos ha ayudado hasta ahora.”

Then Samuel took a stone, and set [it] between Mizpeh and Shen, and called the name of it Eben-ezer, saying, Hitherto hath the LORD helped us.

13 Así los filisteos fueron sometidos y dejaron de entrar en la frontera de Israel. La mano de Yahvé estuvo contra los filisteos todos los días de Samuel.

So the Philistines were subdued, and they came no more into the borders of Israel: and the hand of the LORD was against the Philistines all the days of Samuel.

14 Las ciudades que los filisteos habían arrebatado a Israel fueron devueltas a éste, desde Ecrón hasta Gat, e Israel recuperó su frontera de manos de los filisteos. Hubo paz entre Israel y los amorreos.

And the cities which the Philistines had taken from Israel were restored to Israel, from Ekron even to Gath; and the borders of it did Israel deliver from the hands of the Philistines: and there was peace between Israel and the Amorites.

15 Samuel juzgó a Israel todos los días de su vida.

And Samuel judged Israel all the days of his life.

16 Iba de año en año en un circuito a Betel, Gilgal y Mizpa, y juzgaba a Israel en todos esos lugares.

And he went from year to year in circuit to Beth-el, and Gilgal, and Mizpeh, and judged Israel in all those places.

17 Su regreso fue a Ramá, porque allí estaba su casa, y allí juzgó a Israel; y allí construyó un altar a Yahvé.

And his return [was] to Ramah; for there [was] his house; and there he judged Israel; and there he built an altar to the LORD.
