1 Halleluja! Lova HERREN, min själ.

Praise the Lord! With my whole being I praise the Lord!

2 Jag vill lova HERREN, så länge jag lever, jag vill lovsjunga min Gud, så länge jag är till.

I will praise the Lord while I live; I will sing praises to my God while I have breath.

3 Förliten eder icke på furstar, icke på en människoson, han kan icke hjälpa.

Don't put your confidence in human leaders—they cannot save you.

4 Hans ande måste sin väg, han vänder tillbaka till den jord varav han är kommen; då varda hans anslag om intet.

Once they breathe no more, they go back to dust. On that very day everything they planned dies with them.

5 Säll är den vilkens hjälp är Jakobs Gud, den vilkens hopp står till HERREN, hans Gud,

Happy are those who have the God of Jacob to help them—their hope is in the Lord their God—

6 till honom som har gjort himmelen och jorden och havet och allt vad i dem är, till honom som håller tro evinnerligen,

the one who made heaven and earth, and the sea along with everything it contains. He is trustworthy forever.

7 som skaffar rätt åt de förtryckta, som giver bröd åt de hungrande. HERREN löser de fångna,

He makes sure the oppressed receive justice. He gives food to the hungry. The Lord sets the prisoners free.

8 HERREN öppnar de blindas ögon, HERREN upprättar de nedböjda, HERREN älskar de rättfärdiga,

The Lord makes the blind see. The Lord lifts up those who are bowed down. The Lord loves those who do what is right.

9 HERREN bevarar främlingar, faderlösa och änkor uppehåller han; men de ogudaktigas väg vänder han i villa.

The Lord takes care of strangers among us. He looks after widows and orphans. But he makes life difficult for the wicked.

10 HERREN är konung evinnerligen, din Gud, Sion, från släkte till släkte. Halleluja!

The Lord will reign forever. Zion, he will be your God for all generations. Praise the Lord!
