< Hiob 5 >

1 “Wobɛfrɛ a frɛ, na hena na obegye wo so? Akronkronfo no mu hena nkyɛn na wobɛkɔ?
Call now, if there be any that will answer you; and to which of the saints will you turn?
2 Ahisɛm kum ɔkwasea, na anibere kum atetekwaa.
For wrath kills the foolish man, and envy slays the silly one.
3 Mʼankasa mahu ɔkwasea a ɔrefefɛw, nanso mpofirim, wɔdomee ne fi.
I have seen the foolish taking root: but suddenly I cursed his habitation.
4 Ne mma ne bammɔ ntam kwan ware, wɔdwerɛw wɔn wɔ asennii a wonni ɔkamafo.
His children are far from safety, and they are crushed in the gate, neither is there any to deliver them.
5 Nea ɔkɔm de no no di ne nnɔbae, na ɔfa fi nsɔe mu mpo, na nea osukɔm de no no pere di nʼahode akyi.
Whose harvest the hungry eats up, and takes it even out of the thorns, and the robber swallows up their substance.
6 Ahokyere mpue mmfi dɔte mu na ɔhaw nso mfifi mmfi fam.
Although affliction comes not out of the dust, neither does trouble spring out of the ground;
7 Nanso wɔwo nnipa to ɔhaw mu mpɛn dodow a gyaframa turuw kɔ soro no.
Yet man is born unto trouble, as the sparks fly upward.
8 “Nanso sɛ ɛyɛ me a, anka meguan atoa Onyankopɔn; na mede mʼasɛm ato nʼanim.
I would seek unto God, and unto God would I commit my cause:
9 Ɔyɛ anwonwade a wontumi nhwehwɛ mu, ne nsɛnkyerɛnne a wontumi nkan ne dodow.
Which does great things and unsearchable; marvellous things without number:
10 Ɔtɔ osu gu asase so; na ɔde kɔ wuram.
Who gives rain upon the earth, and sends waters upon the fields:
11 Ɔde ahobrɛasefo si nea ɛkorɔn, na ɔma wɔn a wodi awerɛhow nya asomdwoe.
To set up on high those that be low; that those which mourn may be exalted to safety.
12 Ɔsɛe aniferefo nhyehyɛe, ma wɔn nsa si fam.
He dissapoints the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise.
13 Ɔkyere anyansafo wɔ wɔn anifere mu, na ɔbɔ anitewfo nhyehyɛe gu.
He takes the wise in their own craftiness: and the counsel of the perverse is carried headlong.
14 Sum duru wɔn awia ketee; na wɔkeka wɔ owigyinae mu te sɛ anadwo.
They meet with darkness in the day time, and grope in the noonday as in the night.
15 Ogye ahiafo fi afoa a ɛhyɛ wɔn anom; ogye wɔn fi ahoɔdenfo nkyehama mu.
But he saves the poor from the sword, from their mouth, and from the hand of the mighty.
16 Enti ahiafo wɔ anidaso, na ntɛnkyew ka nʼano to mu.
So the poor has hope, and iniquity stops her mouth.
17 “Nhyira ne onipa a Onyankopɔn teɛ no, enti mmu Otumfo nteɛteɛ no animtiaa.
Behold, happy is the man whom God corrects: therefore despise not you the chastening of the Almighty:
18 Efisɛ ɔno na opira na ɔno ara akyekyere; opira nanso ne nsa sa yare.
For he makes sore, and binds up: he wounds, and his hands make whole.
19 Obegye wo afi ɔhaw ahorow asia mu; ason so no, bɔne biara renka wo.
He shall deliver you in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch you.
20 Ɔkɔm ba a, obegye wo afi owu mu, na ɔko mu nso, obegye wo afi afoa ano.
In famine he shall redeem you from death: and in war from the power of the sword.
21 Wɔbɛbɔ wo ho ban afi ntwirii ho na sɛ ɔsɛe ba a ɛnsɛ sɛ wusuro.
You shall be hid from the scourge of the tongue: neither shall you be afraid of destruction when it comes.
22 Wobɛserew ɔsɛe ne ɔkɔm; na ɛnsɛ sɛ wusuro asase so mmoa.
At destruction and famine you shall laugh: neither shall you be afraid of the beasts of the earth.
23 Wo ne afuw so abo bɛyɛ apam, na emu nkekaboa nso ne wo bɛtena asomdwoe mu.
For you shall be in league with the stones of the field: and the beasts of the field shall be at peace with you.
24 Wubehu sɛ wo ntamadan wɔ bammɔ; na sɛ wosese wʼahode a wubehu sɛ hwee nyeraa ɛ.
And you shall know that your tabernacle shall be in peace; and you shall visit your habitation, and shall not sin.
25 Wubehu sɛ wo mma bɛyɛ bebree; na wʼase bɛfɛe sɛ asase so sare.
You shall know also that your seed shall be great, and your offspring as the grass of the earth.
26 Wode ahoɔden bɛkɔ ɔda mu, te sɛ afiafi a wɔaboa ano wɔ otwabere mu.
You shall come to your grave in a full age, like a shock of corn comes in in his season.
27 “Yɛahwehwɛ eyi mu, na ɛyɛ nokware ɛno nti tie na fa toto wʼabrabɔ ho.”
Lo this, we have searched it, so it is; hear it, and know you it for your good.
