< 1 Kings 17 >

1 Elijah ará Tiṣibi láti Tiṣbi ní Gileadi wí fún Ahabu pé, “Bí Olúwa Ọlọ́run Israẹli ti wà, ẹni tí èmi ń sìn, kì yóò sí ìrì tàbí òjò ní ọdún díẹ̀ tí ń bọ̀ bí kò ṣe nípa ọ̀rọ̀ mi.”
And Elijah the Tishbite, of the inhabitants of Gilead, said to Ahab, "As the LORD, the God of Israel, lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, except by my word."
2 Nígbà náà ni ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa tọ Elijah wá pé,
And the word of the LORD came to him, saying,
3 “Kúrò níhìn-ín, kọjú sí ìhà ìlà-oòrùn, kí o sì fi ara rẹ pamọ́ níbi odò Keriti, tí ń bẹ níwájú Jordani.
"Go away from here, turn eastward, and hide yourself by the Wadi Cherith, that is near the Jordan.
4 Ìwọ yóò mu nínú odò náà, mo sì ti pàṣẹ fún àwọn ẹyẹ ìwò láti máa bọ́ ọ níbẹ̀.”
And it shall be that you will drink from the wadi. I have commanded the ravens to feed you there."
5 Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni ó sì ṣe gẹ́gẹ́ bí Olúwa ti sọ fún un. Ó sì lọ sí ẹ̀bá odò Keriti, tí ń bẹ níwájú Jordani, ó sì dúró síbẹ̀.
So he went and did according to the word of the LORD; for he went and lived by the Wadi Cherith, that is near the Jordan.
6 Àwọn ẹyẹ ìwò sì mú àkàrà àti ẹran wá fún un ní òwúrọ̀, àti àkàrà àti ẹran ní alẹ́, ó sì ń mu nínú odò náà.
And the ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning, and bread and meat in the evening. And he drank from the wadi.
7 Ó sì ṣe lẹ́yìn ọjọ́ díẹ̀, odò náà sì gbẹ nítorí kò sí òjò ní ilẹ̀ náà.
And it happened after a while that the wadi dried up, because there was no rain in the land.
8 Ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa sì tọ̀ ọ́ wá wí pé,
The word of the LORD came to him, saying,
9 “Lọ nísinsin yìí sí Sarefati ti Sidoni, kí o sì dúró síbẹ̀. Èmi ti pàṣẹ fún obìnrin opó kan níbẹ̀ láti máa bọ́ ọ.”
"Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and stay there. Look, I have commanded a widow there to provide for you."
10 Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni ó sì lọ sí Sarefati. Nígbà tí ó sì dé ibodè ìlú náà, obìnrin opó kan ń ṣa igi jọ níbẹ̀. Ó sì ké sí i, ó sì béèrè pé, “Ǹjẹ́ o lè bu omi díẹ̀ fún mi wá nínú ohun èlò kí èmi kí ó lè mu?”
So he got up and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, look, a widow was there gathering wood. And he called to her, and said, "Please bring me a little water in a pitcher, that I may drink."
11 Bí ó sì ti ń lọ bù ú wá, ó ké sí i pé, “Jọ̀ ọ́, mú òkèlè oúnjẹ díẹ̀ fún mi wá lọ́wọ́ rẹ.”
And as she was going to get it, he called to her, and said, "Please bring me a piece of bread in your hand."
12 Obìnrin opó náà sì dá a lóhùn wí pé, “Bí Olúwa Ọlọ́run rẹ ti wà, èmi kò ní àkàrà, bí kò ṣe ìkúnwọ́ ìyẹ̀fun nínú ìkòkò àti òróró díẹ̀ nínú kólòbó. Èmi ń ṣa igi díẹ̀ jọ láti kó lọ ilé, kí èmi kí ó sì pèsè rẹ̀ fún mi àti fún ọmọ mi, kí àwa lè jẹ ẹ́: kí a sì kú.”
She said, "As the LORD your God lives, I do not have anything baked, except a handful of flour in a jar, and a little oil in a jug. Look, I am gathering a couple of sticks, that I may go in and bake it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die."
13 Elijah sì wí fún un pé, “Má ṣe bẹ̀rù. Lọ, kí o sì ṣe gẹ́gẹ́ bí o ti wí. Ṣùgbọ́n kọ́kọ́ ṣe àkàrà kékeré kan fún mi nínú rẹ̀ ná, kí o sì mú fún mi wá, lẹ́yìn náà, kí o ṣe tìrẹ àti ti ọmọ rẹ.
And Elijah said to her, "Do not be afraid. Go and do as you have said. But make me of it a little cake first, and bring it out to me, and afterward make some for yourself and for your son.
14 Nítorí báyìí ni Olúwa Ọlọ́run Israẹli wí: ‘Ìkòkò ìyẹ̀fun náà kì yóò ṣófo, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni kólòbó òróró náà kì yóò gbẹ, títí di ọjọ́ tí Olúwa yóò rọ òjò sí orí ilẹ̀.’”
For thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, 'The jar of flour shall not empty, neither shall the jug of oil be empty, until the day that the LORD sends rain on the surface of the land.'"
15 Ó sì lọ, ó sì ṣe gẹ́gẹ́ bí Elijah ti sọ fún un. Oúnjẹ sì wà fún Elijah àti obìnrin náà àti ilé rẹ̀ ní ojoojúmọ́.
And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah. And she, and he, and her household, ate for a long time.
16 Nítorí ìkòkò ìyẹ̀fun náà kò ṣófo, kólòbó òróró náà kò gbẹ, gẹ́gẹ́ bí ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa tí ó ti ipa Elijah sọ.
The jar of flour did not empty, neither did the jug of oil become empty, according to the word of the LORD, which he spoke by Elijah.
17 Ó sì ṣe lẹ́yìn nǹkan wọ̀nyí, ọmọ obìnrin tí ó ni ilé náà ṣe àìsàn, àìsàn náà sì le tó bẹ́ẹ̀, tí ó fi kú.
It happened after these things, that the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, fell sick. And his illness was so severe that there was no breath left in him.
18 Obìnrin náà sì wí fún Elijah pé, “Kí lo ní sí mi, ènìyàn Ọlọ́run? Ìwọ ha tọ̀ mí wá láti mú ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ mi wá sí ìrántí, àti láti pa mí ní ọmọ?”
And she said to Elijah, "What do we have in common, O man of God? You have come to me to bring my sin to memory, and to kill my son."
19 Elijah sì wí fún un pé, “Gbé ọmọ rẹ fún mi.” Ó sì yọ ọ́ jáde ní àyà rẹ̀, ó sì gbé e lọ sí iyàrá òkè ilé níbi tí òun ń gbé, ó sì tẹ́ ẹ sí orí ibùsùn tirẹ̀.
And he said to her, "Give me your son." And he took him out of her lap and carried him up into the room where he stayed, and laid him on his own bed.
20 Nígbà náà ni ó sì ké pe Olúwa wí pé, “Olúwa Ọlọ́run mi, ìwọ ha mú ibi wá bá opó náà pẹ̀lú lọ́dọ̀ ẹni tí èmi ń ṣe àtìpó, nípa pípa ọmọ rẹ̀?”
He cried to the LORD, and said, "LORD my God, have you also brought disaster on the widow with whom I sojourn, by killing her son?"
21 Nígbà náà ni ó sì na ara rẹ̀ lórí ọmọdé náà ní ẹ̀ẹ̀mẹta, ó sì ké pe Olúwa pé, “Olúwa Ọlọ́run mi, jẹ́ kí ẹ̀mí ọmọdé yìí kí ó tún padà tọ̀ ọ́ wá!”
And he stretched himself upon the child three times, and called out to the LORD, and said, "LORD my God, please let this child's soul come into him again."
22 Olúwa sì gbọ́ igbe Elijah, ẹ̀mí ọmọdé náà sì tún padà tọ̀ ọ́ wá, ó sì sọjí.
The LORD listened to the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came into him again, and he revived.
23 Elijah sì mú ọmọdé náà, ó sì gbé e sọ̀kalẹ̀ láti inú yàrá òkè náà wá sínú ilé. Ó sì fi lé ìyá rẹ̀ lọ́wọ́; Elijah sì wí pé, “Wò ó, ọmọ rẹ yè!”
And Elijah took the child and brought him down out of the room into the house and gave him to his mother. And Elijah said, "See, your son lives."
24 Obìnrin náà sì wí fún Elijah pé, “Nísinsin yìí mo mọ̀ pé ènìyàn Ọlọ́run ni ìwọ ń ṣe, àti pé òtítọ́ ni ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa ní ẹnu rẹ.”
And the woman said to Elijah, "Now I know that you are a man of God and that the word of the LORD in your mouth is the truth."
